BT, I'm terribly sorry, but we can't determine who you are by just the intitials, BT. I've asked my general manager and service manager and none of the items you mention have been brought to either of their attention. Would you email me more information at pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com? Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Dear Peter, All vehicles that are not driven regularly can be subject to batteries’ loss of charge. Your vehicle was towed to us, we changed the battery on a timely basis, and your vehicle is now operating as designed. East Hills Subaru of Roslyn and East Hills Subaru of Sayville did nothing wrong. We service what we sell – even when the vehicle is brought to our sister store. I’m sure you can understand that we do not pick up and drop off for service outside of our market and only for emergency service in our local market. We weren’t being dismissive; it is not part of our business model to drop off vehicles from our Roslyn store to your home in Setauket. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Phil, As I told you service people, the vehicle is driven regularly, just not particularly far. The problem with your dealership is exemplified by your response, instead of dealing with the faulty battery and failure of the system you are blaming the user. The battery failed, it would not take a charge, even though the car is driven at least three times a week and has only 6000 miles. Your response is it's my fault for not driving enough. The car was driven for 3 hours and over 200 miles the day before it failed. Own the problem if you don't want to alienate your clients.

East Hills Subaru of Roslyn responded

Dear Peter, Perhaps I am not addressing the issue clearly. Subaru is the builder of your vehicle. For whatever reason, your vehicle’s battery died. Was it because you drove it little? Perhaps. Was it because the battery was weak from the outset? Perhaps. Was it because of something else? Perhaps. This could have happened with any vehicle from any manufacturer. Again, East Hills Subaru of Roslyn and East Hills Subaru of Sayville did not cause the issue. We retail vehicles and we service vehicles. We sold you a vehicle and we fixed it when you needed help. Own the problem? I did. And I will continue to do so as part of my pledge to you. Your vehicle is running with a new battery in it. Your negative reviews should be aimed at the manufacturer, not the dealers who are keeping you on the road. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

I hope Subaru takes note, the reason people buy these cars is reliability, basically you have said the car will die at random intervals and strand me and you are fine with that. I should be happy you fix it after I manage to find my way home. You sold me a 40K+ car that I don't want to drive because it is going to strand me. Terrible car terrible dealer STAY AWAY FROM BOTH

Dear Rudy, I spoke with my team about your recent visit. They said you had the following services performed: oil change, NY State inspection, tire rotation, cabin air filter replacement, front differential service, rear differential service, and brake fluid replacement with a $25.00 coupon. I'm told we reviewed the pricing and services with you in advance. I hope this explains more of what we did and underscores that you got good value for the money. Dear Ellen, I have struggled writing this response. The last thing I want to do is inflame you more. I have asked David Jacoby to reach out to you on multiple occasions. I have watched him dial and leave messages. I cannot explain the failure in my texting program, other than user error. The team realizes this is a critical tool and they need to bring communications to the attention of management as soon as they occur. As far as the rodent situation, I was not present when you brought in your car and told our service team what occurred. I believe if rodents want to get into a warm vehicle during a snow storm, they certainly could. As far as them doing damage, I am not even sure what suggestions I would have for you, other than to advise of your insurance coverage and have the insurance company pay for it. I was not privy to the conversation you had with Subaru of America; however, based on what you wrote, it does not sound like they felt they were responsible for where you parked your vehicle. Regarding the four cylinder engine and cold starts, it has been relayed to me that four cylinder motors are louder than six cylinder motors until they warm up. Then they are much quieter. I hope you and David are able to speak at some point. Till then, I wish you happy holidays. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com
