We purchased my 2011 Toyota Rav4 new at the end of 2011. I have been taking it to Earnhardt for service and repairs since that time (10 years). I had a repair shop that I liked before, but because of the I have been taking it to Earnhardt for service and repairs since that time (10 years). I had a repair shop that I liked before, but because of the new car warrantees and having moved away from the area of that repair shop, I started going to Earnhardt. Overall, I have been satisfied with the service and experience dealing with them, which is why I continued taking my Rav4 there. They had always been good about checking things out, when I had questions, always no charge. If they found something, I would get it fixed. If they didn’t, I wasn’t charged for them checking. On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, I called Earnhardt to get a service appointment. I had been hearing a noise when I drove on the freeway. The last time I had heard a noise like that it was a front wheel bearing, which I had Earnhardt fix. So I thought this might be the same thing. I had also been hearing another noise in a different location of the vehicle when stopped at traffic lights. When I called the Earnhardt service department, before making the appointment, the person in the service department informed me that it would be $125.00 for them to just check out the freeway noise. I asked if that charge would be applied to the repair charges, she said no. That was just for them to check it out. The repair charges would be on top of that. Then I mentioned the second noise and asked if that would be another $125.00 to check it out, and she said yes, if it wasn’t related to the first noise. So, I am thinking, I will be paying $250.00 just to find out what is wrong, and the repair costs would be on top of that. I asked if that was a new policy, and she said no that is what they do. I called my old repair shop and drove the extra miles to take it there. The owner of the shop said they would check out both items and let me know what needed to be done. I don’t think I will be taking my Rav4 back to Earnhardt. More
