Dear TFB, I'm sorry that you feel there was a lack of communication. Our Quick Lane department is not set up for diagnostics for mechanical issues, therefore whether she told you at the beginning or the end, the answer would be the same. Changing batteries will not affect fuel economy. Change in weather will. When it gets as hot as it does here, you are blasting your A/C on high, pretty much all the time. Your vehicle is working harder to get you down the road. That will cause you to get fewer miles per gallon. If you are not having mechanical issues, paying our main line a $192.00 diagnostic fee would probably be a waste of money. The best thing to do is, a painstaking process of recording exactly how much fuel you use, and the mileage, over at least three cycles, or fill-ups. But again, if you are not getting any engine lights or messages, it is very difficult to know exactly why your mileage has changed.
