To Thorobred: I usually never write reviews because of the time it takes, but when I received exceptional service I knew that I had to share my experience. 2 weeks ago my family and I were in a car accide the time it takes, but when I received exceptional service I knew that I had to share my experience. 2 weeks ago my family and I were in a car accident; no one was harmed thank God. My insurance recommended to take my car in to the body shop at Thorobred Chevrolet, they assured me that they would take good care of me and my car, that their guys there were all about safety and that I would have my car back in no time. I was given a 10 day estimate and received the call on the 8th day that my car was ready. That alone saved me money on the rental I was paying for. My car looked amazing. I would highly recommend the body shop at Thorobred Chevrolet. Thank You. Lisa Anderson More
I went to Thorobred Chevrolet on 10/10/2012 to look at a 2012 CPO Chevy Malibu Ls I saw online for $13, 995. I was greeted by Carl Maton. I looked the car over, test drove it and after this I asked Carl to 2012 CPO Chevy Malibu Ls I saw online for $13, 995. I was greeted by Carl Maton. I looked the car over, test drove it and after this I asked Carl to get me the price of the car with taxes & etc. (Certification is $400 extra). We got a trade appraisal done ($4000), which was at least $1000 short. I was there about an hour & told Carl I'd think it over. I returned Friday 10/12/2012 to talk price & certification again, the car I wanted turned out to be in the process of being sold so Carl showed me a 2012 Malibu LT listed for $14,995 but would do it for $13,995. After test driving car I asked Carl about scratches & dull spots on the car that needed to be buffed & polished he said the car had been in the back & had not been detailed yet so don't worry about it it'll get done. We talked price & trade value again for about an hour I got ($4700). We couldn't agree on who should pay for the GM "Certification cost" I voted the dealer. I told Carl I'd think it over again & left. I returned the following morning Saturday 10/13/2012 & told Carl if he would pay the $400 Cert we had a deal, he went to his manager John S & got it approved. As a preface to what occurred next let me say I had my own financing lined up thru my credit union & on my 3 trips to the dealer I was felt like I was being pressured to fill out a credit app which I refused since I felt they couldn’t beat the rate I got & I didn’t want a dozen inquiries on my credit file. Carl & I began filling out all the paperwork, I was asking questions about what I was signing & this appeared to annoy Carl since his answers weren’t very informative. I felt very uncomfortable with this part of the sale because of Carl’s answers. When time came to sign a “Dealer Work Order” which stated no work will be performed on the car unless it was written here. I asked Carl if we could put the Buffing & Polishing of the paint on this form, he stated that it wasn’t needed & it’ll be done. I told Carl that the form states that verbal agreements are not acceptable & to get it in writing, so I would feel better if we wrote it down. Carl got upset & stated he has been doing this 9 years & has never had this happen so he said here I’ll do this, Carl then wrote (Detail Car) on the form. After this Carl placed a ALLY Bank Credit app on the desk & said I needed to fill out the top portion with my name & address, I asked why & he said it was just Dealer policy that he get it filled out. I asked why again since I had my own financing & Carl said it was Dealer policy & it was required. Carl walked away & came back a few minutes later, Carl noticed that I hadn’t filled out the form so I asked him why it was needed, he got frustrated & said he wasn’t going to apply for financing just to fill it out, he said he doesn’t even need my SSN but I needed to fill out my name & address. I said why again & he got upset & blurted out angrily (practically shouting) “I need it to make sure you’re not a terrorist, fill it out or don’t fill it out I don’t care. “ Carl then walked out of his cubical & went to his manager’s office (John S.) John S. came out & greeted me; he shook my hand & asked how everything was going I explained to John what had just happen & he apologized on behalf of Carl. John then explained the reason behind the Credit App which was for a OFAC check required by federal law. I understand this & said all Carl had to do was explain it but he was just pressuring me to do something without explaining the reasoning. I was upset & asked to speak with the General Manager Markus Gluvna. I spoke with Markus & explained the situation to him. Markus again apologized for Carl & said it should have never happened & Carl should have just taken the time to explain things properly. I told Markus that I wasn’t even sure if I wished to purchase a car from this dealership at this point, I was offered 1 years’ worth of oil changes (which is already free thru the GM CPO program, Markus then offered me free window tint. Markus stated I could take the weekend to think it over; he would pull the car to the side along with all my paperwork & that I could just call him in a few days if I wished to proceed with the sale. I took Markus business card & went home. On Monday morning 10/15/2012 I received a call from a salesman Jim Bowman who asked if I would be in in to pick up my new Malibu today, I asked Jim if he was aware of my situation and he stated he was aware that I didn’t get along with the salesman. I told Jim that I had not yet made my decision but if he could look into the “authorization” of the buffing & polishing of the paint & window tint, he stated he would ask Markus & get back to me. Jim called me that evening & stated Markus approved the window tint, buffing, polishing & that they would do their best to remove the scratches & hazy dull spots. On Tuesday afternoon I went back to the dealership & met with Jim Bowman at the new car building since I did not wish to run into or see Carl. I was presented with the remaining paperwork, I asked Jim if I could see the car again & he stated of course but it was presently being cleaned & detailed. He stated I would need to make an appointment to comeback for the window tint & paint buffing after the deal was officially closed. I find this strange & don’t see a great reason why it couldn’t have been done prior to me arriving especially the paint polishing since anyone buying the car would want it nice looking. I’ll give them the excuse on the window tint since not everyone would want that. So its Friday 10/19/2012 & I’m waiting patiently to be called so I can drop off my car so I can get the paint buffed & windows tinted. Hopefully this gets settled & done so I'll be satisfied overall but if it doesn't I'm going to be pissed. Overall Carl M.-Terrible John S.-OK Markus G. -OK Jim B. -OK More
Brought in my 91 Buick Park Avenue because it needed a harmonic balancer replaced. I had the part but was not able to perform the repair myself. Rick suggested they replace the front oil seal since that i harmonic balancer replaced. I had the part but was not able to perform the repair myself. Rick suggested they replace the front oil seal since that is behind the balancer ( $14 part ). They completed the job quickly and professionally, gave me a ride home and washed my car afterwards. The price for the repair was very fair and I am very happy to have my car fixed. Thanks! More
I puchased a car back in May 2012. I discovered a few days ago that some sub-par body work had been performed on the car(literally a piece of the paint the size 1inch x 1 inch peeled off). i immediately days ago that some sub-par body work had been performed on the car(literally a piece of the paint the size 1inch x 1 inch peeled off). i immediately took it back to the dealership, and altough they sold it with the body work and agree the body work is sub-par, since they didnt do it, they arent going to cover it. They do not back up there product and i would caution anyone from buying from them. More

My wife and I live in Salt Lake City UT and flew to Thorobred to purchase a used Acura we found through the Autotrader website. The car had low miles, was in great condition and Thorobred was selling i Thorobred to purchase a used Acura we found through the Autotrader website. The car had low miles, was in great condition and Thorobred was selling it for quite a bit lower than other similar cars we had seen. Prior to making the trip, I called multiple times to ask questions about the vehicle and find out about their policies. They were very helpful each time I called, I asked for details about the condition of the car and they took the time to take additional photos and email them to me. When I told them I would be flying down, they offered to pick me up at the airport at no charge, which was extremely helpful to us. When we arrived at the dealership, everyone was friendly and very easy to work with. We found the car in fantastic condition, just as had been described to us. I specifically worked with Gary and Samantha and they were both very helpful and accomodating. Great dealership, I would definitely recommend them. More

I purchased a Used HHR from this dealership. My buying experience took almost 9 hours which is unheard of. The Salesman that helped me was very nice however he was working in between myself and another b experience took almost 9 hours which is unheard of. The Salesman that helped me was very nice however he was working in between myself and another buyer so I was left alone for hours on end at points during the buying phase. By the time I left the dealership it was 7pm and their service department had already closed. So the stench of cigar smoke could not be taken care of. Then to top it off they didn't even give me the vehicle with a full tank of gas. Fast forward 2 months and less than 3K miles on the car. The running board on the vehicle falls off while driving down the highway (this is not covered as I'm told by the service department). The power steering pump is bad and has to be replaced. Then upon this being serviced it is identified by the tech at the chevy delearship (a different chevy dealership then this one) that this vehicle has a recall on the ignition and this should have been replaced before the vehicle was purchased. It is also identified that the car needs a wheel alignment (again have driven the car less than 3K miles) and the cabin filter needs to be replaced already. This has been a complete dissappointment. In June I made the mistake of trusting a used truck dealer located in Mesa on Country Club Drive, and purchased a Chevy Silverado diesel truck that smokes and has other issues. So I took it to a Chevy dealer located in Mesa on Country Club Drive, and purchased a Chevy Silverado diesel truck that smokes and has other issues. So I took it to a Chevy dealer in Arrowhead for diagnostics and after 9 hours and $110 lighter it was obvious that what I had requested which was a determination of the problems with the engine , was not going to happen. They did replace some glow plugs which I appreciate, but also managed to break a coolant pipe and then try to say it was leaking when it came in. They were forced to replace it at their cost. Long story short, I requested why the engine was smoking at idle, loping, and a "balance" of the injectors for starters. A few days later I found Thorobred Chevrolet in Chandler, looking for a $500 part that they seemed to be the only one in the valley to have it. The parts dept. cut me a good deal on it, actually cheaper than Autozone, and OEM as well. I checked with service and spoke with Mike the service manager and explained my situation, and that all I wanted was an HONEST answer. He advised to bring it in and he would have his foreman Blaine personally check it out. When I arrived, I met Mike, Blaine, and Nick also with service. They immediately got on it using their scanner equipment and obvious knowledge of the problem. A short time later Blaine had determined the problems including the loping which was attributed to the emissions crap as well as possible injector problems. I really appreciate the professionalism and honesty that I received at Thorobred, and only wish that I had gone there first in the beginning. By the way, it only took about 30 minutes and didn't cost me a dime, and I would have gladly paid. That's the difference in competent people who actually care about doing their job ! Thanks to everyone there including John the general manager who took the time to speak with me on this matter unlike the other location. More
