They would not repair their damage, GM would not fix it and they basically denied all responsibility. We will never purchase another GM car ever again and we try to warn everyone that we encounter about Elco--do not go there!!! We are extremely happy with our new Infiniti and the level of service that we receive--thanks Elco for pushing us in that direction--we love it. More
HORRIBLE BODY SHOP EXPERIENCE HORRIBLE PLACE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO GET REPAIRED. We took our 2000 corvette into Elco in Sept 2014 to get repaired after an accident. There w HORRIBLE PLACE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO GET REPAIRED. We took our 2000 corvette into Elco in Sept 2014 to get repaired after an accident. There was an aftermarket part on the car that we were told was backordered and would be in before the end of the year. It is now May 2015 and we still do not have our part and have not heard from Elco at all. I had to call in today to see what was going in and no one knew. After getting pass around to 5-6 different people, the service manager Kyle tried to help. I am very disappointed in the service I received and would not recommend anyone to take their car here to get repaired. More
Really disappointed. I bought my used car from Elco 2.5 years ago. They did a tour of the service rea and encouraged me to return to have my maintenance done with them. Even though it is out of my way I ha years ago. They did a tour of the service rea and encouraged me to return to have my maintenance done with them. Even though it is out of my way I have done so, with no problems. I went in for an oil change today. When I got the car back the "change oil" digital message was still there. I called to ask how to remove it - this hadn't happened before. Shaun, the person I spoke to, told me that I needed to call the manufacturer and ask them how to do it because it wasn't a Chevrolet. When I explained that it hadn't happened before I was told that then I had got lucky with a technician who knew how to do it, and the technician today didn't. When I asked if he could find out he told me again to call the manufacturer or take it to a Chrysler dealership. I asked him why I should continue to bring my vehicle to Elco for maintenance if this was their attitude. He told me it wasn't their problem. I called back to speak to the Service Manager who had already gone home, and the person at the service desk couldn't tell me who the most senior person was that I could speak to. I called back and asked for the Dealer Principal. After holding for a while I was offered his voicemail and told that he checks it every 30 minutes or so. Two and a half hours later I've not heard back. At the bottom of the invoice it says "Our goal at Elco Chevrolet is to make every customer Completely Satisfied, and we sincerely hope all your concerns were met. If for any reason you are not Completely Satisfied contact our service department so that we can make every effort to resolve your concern." I feel that this lip service only, and they have failed on both counts. Before this experience I would have happily recommended this dealership. I will not be returning. More
I was on a trip to Chicago and had a drivability problem that resulted in the vehicle not being able to run over 45mph. I got into town and was able to get it into the dealer ship in Chicago. The dealer cal that resulted in the vehicle not being able to run over 45mph. I got into town and was able to get it into the dealer ship in Chicago. The dealer called me up and stated the vehicle had a failure of the throttle position sensor. They replaced the throttle body assembly and charged me 600.00 for the repair. I ask if they would be able to fix it under warranty and they stated it would not be possible. I told that dealership that I was going to go to my dealer in St Louis. I returned to St Louis and contacted Elco Chevrolet and spoke to my sales person Eric Cromer. Eric spoke to the Chevrolet service manager and told me to bring down the paper work with the old part and they would review it. After looking at the repair, Elco noted that there was a service bulletin talking about throttle position sensor failure. After this review the service manager spoke to the Chevrolet rep. The rep decided to reimburse me the full amount of the repair. I am very thankful for all the help Eric provided me with this situation. Randy Luebbert More

I am a long time customer of Elco Chevrolet and have purchased 3 trucks and 2 cars from their dealership. I recently returned for service to their very modern facility and while there, stopped by the f purchased 3 trucks and 2 cars from their dealership. I recently returned for service to their very modern facility and while there, stopped by the front desk to say hello to Cort Howard, who recognized me immediately as a past...and future customer. As a long time Camaro enthusiast, Cort introduced me to Joe Gordan, and pointed us in the direction of the totally awesome ZL1 just outside the showroom window. Joe gave me a great tour of the car, both inside and out, pointing out many details and new features that he knew I would appreciate. Great job, Joe! He knew I would be thrilled to go for a test drive...and he made it happen. The hook was set. What a car!!! After the drive, we sat at Joe's desk to size up my experience and impressions. We did several extensive searches for other ZL1's in different colors and with different options. Joe wanted to sell me the one they had in stock, but new that ultimately, my happiness and total satisfaction was his goal too. He knew I would be a tough nut to crack, but never hesitated to explore other options The man has patience of a saint. Joe knew that I would not be parted from my hard earned money easily, nor fall to the "temptation" that he (and Chevrolet) presented in a most professional manner. In order to understand my "needs" more fully, Joe offered to explore other similar performance vehicles at a comparitive price. A Corvette maybe? Joe saw no "push-back" from me. A Corvette has always been my dream. So we looked, compared and drove some exceptional cars. What a great experience! So here comes the bottom line...After 5 hours of car "talk", Joe new me very well, and I, him. I though of him as a trusted friend. He went waaaaay beyound the efforts of any salesman I have met before. Obviously, he wanted to make a sale, but I truely believe my satisfaction with the car-buying experience was what he wanted to make happen. I didn't buy a new ZL1 or a very slightly, previously owned Z06 Corvette at a super price. No, it didn't happen. But, Joe, Cort and I know...I'll be back! There is no Chevrolet dealership in St. Louis that would go so far to make their customers happy. Thanks Joe. Thanks Cort. Thanks Elco. BTW: My truck that I had brought in for sevice was fixed and ready to go...cleaner than I had seen it in weeks. The service rep. showed me the replaced parts along with a trip to the Technician's work bench to "demonstrate" the root cause of the repair work. These guys are outstanding! Another great job done by Elco and Chevrolet. More
We purchased out 2005 Trailblazer used in 2008. Since then, we have used the service department several times. There was an issue with the front differental right after we bought the truck. Elco made then, we have used the service department several times. There was an issue with the front differental right after we bought the truck. Elco made the repair with no cost to us and with a smile on their face. We have recommended this dealership to many of our friends and family. Everyone we know that has gone to Elco has had a positive experience. In today's world, when most companies have all but forgotten customer service, Elco stands above the rest. More
I had come in for service on my Cadillac. I was very agitated with the place I had taken it previously because they could not seem to figure out why one of my dash lights kept coming on after being in t agitated with the place I had taken it previously because they could not seem to figure out why one of my dash lights kept coming on after being in the shop on two seperate occasions. I wanted to speak with a manager about the issue before I let them take my car. Mr. Nickelson assured me they would do everything possible to diagnose the problem and correct it. I was skeptical, however I had little choice but to trust that Elco could do the job. I waited less than 45 minutes when my advisor informed me that not only did they pinpoint the problem but that it was already fixed and I was 'ready to go.' I couldn't believe it or thank him enough!!! The cashier was very professional, prepared and I was out of there quick. Even the gentleman whom I believe they call "D" that brought me my car was kind enough to help me with my things. Thank you Elco, A Future Repeater More
I went to ELCO because I was hearing a noise in my wheels They told me, after 1.5 hrs waiting that I needed a new hub and wheel bearing and it would be about 650.00, I almost fainted. I called Royal Gate, They told me, after 1.5 hrs waiting that I needed a new hub and wheel bearing and it would be about 650.00, I almost fainted. I called Royal Gate, they told me to bring it over. ELCO said that I was taking a big risk because my wheel could fall off . Royal gate fixed it right away, they put in a new wheel bearing and saved my hub, also fixed my break light for 340.00. ELCO is a big rip off and scares you into buying things you don't need. They also charged for looking at it and took 3 hrs. before I left there. More
I've had two terrible experiences here in the past few months. I never had a reason to dislike Elco, but they've done everything they could to make me never come back. First experience: I got rear-end months. I never had a reason to dislike Elco, but they've done everything they could to make me never come back. First experience: I got rear-ended in my z28. I decided to take it to the closest dealer for the re-paint job. I figured the dealer could do the best job color matching the paint. While working things out with the insurance company, I went to Elco just to get an appraisal. They quoted me 750 dollars just to repaint my rear bumper. Kinda high I thought. After I finally got my insurance money (250 bucks) and the insurance company fought things out with them, they caved and decided to do it for that price. At the cheap price Elco really treated my car like a "filler" job. Working on it when it was convinent for them. It took them 5 days to repaint my bumper (excuse after excuse). Mind you I take pretty nice car of my car. When I went to pick it up I noticed an obvious flaw in the paint job. A huge crack in the finish. After a little arguing they agreed to repaint it. After a few more days, I went to pick it up. I didnt notice this time... but after about a week I noticed yet another crack in the paint. I give up with this body shop. I'll live with it. Second experience: Went to pick up some rocker arm bolts for my 96 v6 camaro. After waiting in the parts line for about 20 minutes (1 customer in front of me) I got my turn to speak with their parts attendant. I was nothing but polite but the man behind the counter made it his business to let me know that he knew everything and I was nothing but a dumb 27 year old. When he finally agreed that I had the right part number, he proceeded to let me know that the price for a set of bolts was going to be 40 bucks and they wouldnt be there until next week and that I had to order 15 (would not sell them individually). Who needs 15 rocker arm bolts anyway? I went home and ordered them from paceperformanceparts.com for 16 bucks to my door. Long story short, Elco must be doing plenty of business, cause they're not trying to hard to win new customers - especially not this one who's looking to buy a new SS Camaro. More
