I went to ELCO because I was hearing a noise in my wheels They told me, after 1.5 hrs waiting that I needed a new hub and wheel bearing and it would be about 650.00, I almost fainted. I called Royal Gate, They told me, after 1.5 hrs waiting that I needed a new hub and wheel bearing and it would be about 650.00, I almost fainted. I called Royal Gate, they told me to bring it over. ELCO said that I was taking a big risk because my wheel could fall off . Royal gate fixed it right away, they put in a new wheel bearing and saved my hub, also fixed my break light for 340.00. ELCO is a big rip off and scares you into buying things you don't need. They also charged for looking at it and took 3 hrs. before I left there. More
I've had two terrible experiences here in the past few months. I never had a reason to dislike Elco, but they've done everything they could to make me never come back. First experience: I got rear-end months. I never had a reason to dislike Elco, but they've done everything they could to make me never come back. First experience: I got rear-ended in my z28. I decided to take it to the closest dealer for the re-paint job. I figured the dealer could do the best job color matching the paint. While working things out with the insurance company, I went to Elco just to get an appraisal. They quoted me 750 dollars just to repaint my rear bumper. Kinda high I thought. After I finally got my insurance money (250 bucks) and the insurance company fought things out with them, they caved and decided to do it for that price. At the cheap price Elco really treated my car like a "filler" job. Working on it when it was convinent for them. It took them 5 days to repaint my bumper (excuse after excuse). Mind you I take pretty nice car of my car. When I went to pick it up I noticed an obvious flaw in the paint job. A huge crack in the finish. After a little arguing they agreed to repaint it. After a few more days, I went to pick it up. I didnt notice this time... but after about a week I noticed yet another crack in the paint. I give up with this body shop. I'll live with it. Second experience: Went to pick up some rocker arm bolts for my 96 v6 camaro. After waiting in the parts line for about 20 minutes (1 customer in front of me) I got my turn to speak with their parts attendant. I was nothing but polite but the man behind the counter made it his business to let me know that he knew everything and I was nothing but a dumb 27 year old. When he finally agreed that I had the right part number, he proceeded to let me know that the price for a set of bolts was going to be 40 bucks and they wouldnt be there until next week and that I had to order 15 (would not sell them individually). Who needs 15 rocker arm bolts anyway? I went home and ordered them from paceperformanceparts.com for 16 bucks to my door. Long story short, Elco must be doing plenty of business, cause they're not trying to hard to win new customers - especially not this one who's looking to buy a new SS Camaro. More

Elco's service department has a pattern, at least in my experience of recommending expensive services each time I go in. Recently I had a major tune-up and they recommended new valve cover gaskets at a pr experience of recommending expensive services each time I go in. Recently I had a major tune-up and they recommended new valve cover gaskets at a price of $1000. There has never been any evidence of leakage. Two weeks later I had a coolant leak. It required a couple of gaskets and oh, by the way, change the water pump. Total bill $1200. At that time they also recommended new head gaskets ($4500), replace side maker light ($85)(which I replaced my self in 15 minutes), flush the brakes ($135), flush the power steering ($100), and drain and refill the tires with nitrogen. They stopped short of a precision floor mat reallignment. The unknowledgible and unwary can easily be sucked into expensive and possibly completely unnecessary repairs. More
I have had a very negative experience with this dealership regarding warranty work. The story is way too long to write here. In short, they denied a warranty claim for a body panel that fell off. dealership regarding warranty work. The story is way too long to write here. In short, they denied a warranty claim for a body panel that fell off. Actually, they performed half of the work under warranty and then put the unassembled parts (the body panel) in my SUV and sent me home. They also stated upon drop-off that they would pay for the rental car they provided, but my credit card was charged $240 for the car without any mention to me. I still haven't gotten the $240 back, but am still working on it.

After all was said and done, I took them to arbitration to get the car properly repaired and won. After losing the arbitration they refused to perform the work (and actually never did). Chevy had another dealer perform the work. More
