Beware of this Service Department I brought my wife’s Honda Pilot in for an oil change on 9/30/16 at Duval Honda. The vehicle’s mileage was around 31,000. I was brought into the serv I brought my wife’s Honda Pilot in for an oil change on 9/30/16 at Duval Honda. The vehicle’s mileage was around 31,000. I was brought into the service advisor’s (Tom Martin) cubicle to checkout as the oil change was about to be completed. I was greeted with a handshake, which made me knew something shady was about to happen. He told me the air filters were in need of replacement. This was surprising, being that I replaced them approximately 2-3 weeks ago. He also said the windshield wipers and transmission fluid needed to be replaced. There was nothing wrong with the wipers and the vehicle didn’t have enough miles on it for the transmission fluid to be replaced. I noticed my wife’s name was on the paperwork. I’m assuming they attempted the upsell technique because they thought they would be dealing with a female. As I was leaving the service department, I asked the service advisor what they found out about the filters. He said the tech was wrong and that he was in trouble. I find it hard to believe a tech would act on his own to mislead a customer. Work procedures are usually guided by someone at a higher level. I believe this is done at the advisor level or above. I noticed Mr. Martin’s cubicle was lined up with numerous “Service Advisor of the Month” awards. If he is considered the cream of the crop, I would hate to see how his counterparts perform. For someone that helped purchase two vehicles from this dealership in the last two years, I felt betrayed. I felt like we were being treated as if we purchased the vehicle from another dealership in the same city. Needless to say, this will be the last time our vehicle will be brought to this dealership for service. I advise anyone looking to service their vehicle at this dealership to proceed with caution! More
