Ed used profanity when daughter brought up vehicle inspection details. Ed hung on me three times when I called to speak with him about this. Potential buyer, please read other reviews. They seem nice inspection details. Ed hung on me three times when I called to speak with him about this. Potential buyer, please read other reviews. They seem nice in beginning and are typical used car deals after they get your money. Buyer beware. More
On August 18, 2020, I walked into Drive 5280 to look at a used Hummer, end up purchasing it and have regretted it since. I completely understand that there is risk when purchasing a used vehicle. But I purc used Hummer, end up purchasing it and have regretted it since. I completely understand that there is risk when purchasing a used vehicle. But I purchased the vehicle from Ed Bronstine (Owner) because of two reasons: the warranty offered; and the fact that Ed gave me his word that he would work with me if significant issues arose. Then it began……….Within a day I sent a text to Ed notifying them that the vehicle needed an alignment and that a leak was found. Then, on August 29th, the vehicle did not start, so I replaced the battery. Two days later it did not start again. So I was instructed to call the firm that handles potential warrant items and was instructed to bring the vehicle into one of their pre-determined garages for inspection. On September 2nd, I was informed that the Power Steering Pump, Power Steering Line, Motor Mount, Transmission Mount, Radiator, and Radiator Line needed to be replaced and it needed an electronic key (FOB). How in the xxxx was this not identified when 5280 did their inspection of the vehicle???? At this point the bill was already over $2000 and I have only drove it three times. I assumed Ed was going to work with me s after informing him of the issues but instead he replied and I quote “his hands were tied.” So I paid for the repairs and final got the vehicle back after 10 days. On Sept 17th the vehicle would not start again so back to the garage it went. After 33 more days and another $500 bill I finally get the vehicle back home on October 20th. Two days later the vehicle would not start again. From what I am being told this issue was likely present prior to Ed selling me this vehicle. So for the last 90 days I have not drove the vehicle as it is not fit for its intended use. It is not a reliable vehicle. A used piece of junk that I will likely have to sink another $2000 into it just to make it reliable. There is a reason why major banks do not do business with firms like 5280, it because of these issues. That was told to me by my bank, hence the reason you have to get financing from a credit union. It’s sad that Ed bought a vehicle from auction then pawned that headache on me, just to make a profit. I assume people work hard for their money and why you would risk buying a car from this dealership when these potential issues could arise. I have paid an additional $3000 over what I paid for this vehicle and it still is not reliable. What Ed sold me was a headache, a vehicle that is unreliable, just like his word. Go somewhere else. First Time Buyer I am 20 years old and this was my first car purchase on my own-so I was very nervous. Buzz and Ed could not have been more helpful and honest. Even wi I am 20 years old and this was my first car purchase on my own-so I was very nervous. Buzz and Ed could not have been more helpful and honest. Even with my limited credit history, they got me an amazing first time buyer rate. The car was making an intermittent noise, which made it difficult for them to determine the cause. They promised they would fix it if their mechanic could hear the noise. It took me a couple of trips, but they finally heard and fixed it right away. I am extremely happy with the car and their service!! More
Stands behind their product I would encourage you to read the entire story of our visit and why I would give this company 6 stars. But in summary, I have been overly shocked at Ed's honesty and integrity. We got a great vehicle at a great price. Please keep reading to get an idea of why I would recommend Drive 5280 to everyone. It is an example of how they do business and stand behind their product. We just bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid from them. We worked with both Buzz and Ed. The experience was very straightforward and no hard salesman techniques (and I have seen quite a few techniques). We test drove the vehicle prior to buying it and it drove fantastic. However, there was a rattling noise coming from the steering column. It was driving my wife pretty crazy (and after a week of driving it, I don't blame her). We asked if they would fix it before we purchase the car. They tried, but to no avail. They told us to take it into a dealer and they will cover the costs. We took it in twice for them to figure out the cause of the noise and diagnosed a new steering column. It ended up costing quite a bit of money, and when I spoke to Ed I could tell that he wasn't expecting to pay for that much. This is where I was floored. He said, "I made a promise to you and your wife that we would fix it, and we will. I have learned a hard lesson for the future." I know that it was not a large profit opportunity for them to sell us the vehicle and do the repairs. But they valued the customer and having integrity over making money. My wife told me what I was thinking: "You don't see that very much in this day and age." And she is right. Thank you Ed. More
Drive 5280 was a totally different car buying experience for me. It was fantastic! Ed & Buzz were knowledgable, friendly, respectful and accommodating. They had the car i was looking for and several othe for me. It was fantastic! Ed & Buzz were knowledgable, friendly, respectful and accommodating. They had the car i was looking for and several others that would have met my needs. They seem to have a good system for get quality cars that have been well maintained. After an exhausting week of traditional dealerships and sales people pushing me to buy sub par vehicles at prices above what i stated i wanted to spend I went to drive 5280. I was of course skeptical but quickly learned that Ed & Buzz are not car sales men, they are good business men that happen to sell cars. Yes, there is a difference! They let me take the vehicle on my own with out them, they were happy to let me take it to my mechanic for his blessing (which I did & he loved it), they were consultive not pushy or rushing to make the sale and their prices were very fair.....i didn't ever feel the need to work them down on the price. (i had to do that at every other dealer to even get close to what i thought was reasonable for a vehicle). I'm sold on Drive 5280 and intend on starting there for all my future car purchases. Every car dealer I went to this past week tried to tell me how different they are from every other dealer & then proceeded to be exactly the same. Neither Ed or Buzz tried to tell me how different or better they were, they just showed me. More
