After questioning their sale ethics, we were told by the sales manager that they screw customers over everyday. Also, if you don’t put down a non-refundable deposit on the vehicle, they can sell the car out from under you. I will never go to any of Doug Smith car dealers in Utah ever again. Beware of this dealer. More
There service was terrible. They took a week to look at my. car. They took another week to make the radiator repair that they said was needed, then they said I needed a whole n They took a week to look at my. car. When I asked why this was moving so slowly they said they had over 100 cars waiting to be repaired and they are short staffed and some of their mechanics have been taking days off without notice. They finally gave me a quote to replace the engine only for me to find out days later, when I asked about timing, that they could not find a new engine and had no timeframe on how many weeks or months it would take to get one. When I tried to have my car towed elsewhere and pay for their overpriced services they wouldn't release my. car until I paid the full amount of the invoice including the portion my extended warranty company authorized payment of over a week earlier. Our 24K mile Kia Niro EV stopped providing cold AC, so I scheduled an appointment to have my college age daughter take it in and have fixed, assuming our 100K warranty was good. Appointment was scheduled a month in advance so when she showed up at 7:30am on 6/27/24, after waiting 8 hours, they told her "Our EV guy is not here, you will have to come back tomorrow. Today, she is there at 7:30am. They diagnosed that the noise the AC is using requires a new blower. Mike said it was low on refrigerant, "but we can't find a leak, so it is going to cost you $700 for the refrigerant that we put in the unit. If you don't pay the $700, we will discharge the refrigerant that we put in." I told my daughter that $700 for refrigerant is too much and it should be under warranty so my daughter told them that I want you to perform whatever warranty service you are willing to provide. Their response "We are going to remove the refrigerant and It's going to blow hot air" So they removed all of the refrigerant from the system, even the refrigerant that was in the car when it arrived and the system won't blow any air, hot or cold. This morning when she took the car in, at least it would blow air, now it doesn't even blow. I regret buying a Kia and I regret scheduling an appointment with Doug Smith Kia. More

We bought the car anyway and left with a sour taste in our mouth. The service department never rotated our tires like they should have on the vehicle we purchased new and had serviced by them. This resulted in the two front tires needing to be replaced a lot sooner than the rear tires. March 2024 I test drove a vehicle with zero problems. I come back approximately a week later but want to test drive a significantly less expensive vehicle first. They end up now needing a copy of my personql insurance this time. I am treated completely different despite having the same salesperson that I liked. This time I have my wife and all my kids so I can drive a car home. I walk away despite being fully prepared to make a purchase. More
I will never take another vehicle to this dealership! I went in twice last week because my car said there was something wrong with the hybrid system (I have a Kia Optima Hybrid). I don’t know if the mechanics here are lazy, incompetent, or just downright stupid, but both times I was told everything was totally fine. The second time I was even told it would be a few days because they were going to have a hybrid specialist look at it. When I picked it up, they didn’t mention anything about the hybrid system, just said they had essentially reset the engine light. Here it is, four days after I picked it up for the second time, and I’m still getting warnings that the hybrid system is broken. I will never come here again. They are completely worthless. I will avoid Kias in the future, and especially anything from Doug Smith dealerships! More
Gah, I really hate negative reviews. .. but maybe it will generate some positive change. I've been a loyal customer of Doug Smith for nearly a decade. I have purchased multiple new cars .. but maybe it will generate some positive change. I've been a loyal customer of Doug Smith for nearly a decade. I have purchased multiple new cars from them and have referred about a dozen customers including my own family. My family currently owns 3 Kia/Hyundai cars. I'm a little stunned at my poor service interactions in the past few months with Doug Smith Kia Service. I can't really in good conscience purchase another car from Doug Smith or refer a friend when their service department treats customers poorly. I can't buy another Kia / Hyundai when I have no confidence in their service department when a mechanical problem comes up. When a service rep like Luis is unresponsive to questions and communication regarding a potential 5k repair It is frustrating. When Luis then requires me to physically come to the dealership rather than having a phone conversation to talk through it, it is more frustrating. It also puts me in an awkward situation. I basically had to take time off work and drive 40 minutes each way to have a conversation that could and should be handled over the phone. That's not good service folks! I expressed my frustration over this process to Luis he says something like, "Look, you aren't my only customer". Then I expressed my increasingly intense frustrations to the Service Manager Brad Holt and he responded by saying something to the effect that, "If you don't like it, you can take your car keys and go somewhere else." So in the end I passed up on the repair, took my keys, and went somewhere else. I had another mechanic complete the repair and it was 1/2 the price and 1/2 the time as it would have been at Doug Smith. The end result is that Doug Smith has lost a loyal car-buying customer and I'm left looking for a dealership and a new automotive brand (other than Kia / Hyundai) that I can trust. Honestly, It's disappointing and is a loose / loose for each of us. Be careful when you tell someone to "take their keys and go somewhere else" they are likely to follow your advice. In fairness... they did refund about $200 in repairs that were completed as part of their incorrect diagnosis, but that not great service it's just damage control. I hope others have a better service experience. Happy Driving! More
