Went to buy a new 2022 Volkswagen Taos from Dick Hannah but the process to get a fair price (MSRP) was cumbersome. First, they are asking almost $5k over MSRP for a “regional demand markup”. Only thing is they are the only dealership in the Northwest that is adding this markup. I was able to get them down to MSRP but only because I found the same car down the road at MSRP. Second, once they committed to sell me the car at MSRP and we were finalizing the deal, I found out that they planned on charging me a $460 add on for some vehicle anti theft program. I certainly was not interested in that and they were not upfront about this. It wasn’t until I insisted the quote be put into writing that I found this out. I tried to get them to remove it but they wouldn’t budge. Lastly, they also insisted that I had to finance it to get the car at MSRP versus paying cash for it. Ultimately, I went to Tacoma to buy the car and actually paid less for it than I would have locally, even with paying more in taxes there. I am sure others have had good luck there but if you are looking for an easy buying process, no strings attached, and transparency, I wouldn’t buy a vehicle here unless it was your only option. Spend the time and shop around, you will find out they are not that competitive. More

This was obviously NOT a small purchase and I am NOT happy with the overall deal. If i could unwind it, i most certainly would. Adrian was helpful and courteous, as was Collin in finance, but it was Jacob (I believe) that talked to us in a condescending way at times. I understand the current new and used car market, and with high demand and low supply, it can encourage price gouging and profiteering. That is what’s going on at Dick Hannah. There are other VW dealers in the area, and you don’t see the $3,000-$5,000 added markup over MSRP at those locations. It took hours and a hard line approach to get down to MSRP, and that’s just ridiculous. To make matters worse, I wasn’t given a reasonable valuation on my trade. $2,000-$4,000 below market value. I can’t wait to see it listed for $15,000 above what you paid for it. In the end, obviously the deal is on me and I have to accept the terms. Any auto purchase is a give and take, and you really have to pay attention and stick to your guns to avoid being taken advantage of. It was my own impatience and excitement in the moment that drove me to make a bad deal, rather than drive down to Armstrong to buy my next Atlas (they sold me my 2018 Atlas R-Line). It’s just unfortunate that I’m disappointed after buying such a great car at a great interest rate. My advice to others (I manage 20 stores and 250 employees) will be to make that extra drive. Dick Hannah doesn’t believe in nice, they believe in padding their bottom line. Rest assured, this will be the first and LAST car I ever buy from Dick Hannah. More
I sold my car to to Dick Hannah VW and I was lucky to work with Esteban the whole time. He gave me a price that I liked that was also fair for them to make some money on the car as well. Great experience! Greg and Cooper were outstanding and a pleasure to work with. Greg was low pressure and patient. He answered our questions over the two weeks we were looking. He showed us a variety of cars, let us wonder around on our own without pressure but was available when we had questions or wanted to test drive. He was diligent about sanitizing each vehicle for us before test drives. Once we found “the car”, he stayed late to help us and came in early the next morning to finish up the deal. Cooper helped us with the paperwork. He was professional and very personable! I’ve bought a lot of vehicles over the years and always dread the paperwork. This was by far the best experience in finance because of Cooper! We will be back to Dick Hannah and we’ll make sure to ask for Greg and Cooper. Heck, my mother in law might go look at a car soon based on our experience. I’ll trust Greg and Cooper to get her into a car she wants, at a fair price and with patience and respect. Thanks again! From Greg setting up the test drive, locating the vehicle of my choice and overseeing the final preparation in the shop, he was personable and efficient.
