OMG, I can't believe how Desert Toyota does business. Greed, manipulation, bold faced lies and unethical practices. 1. Greed. They offered me a New 2022 Toyota Camry for $46688.00. That's like $15000.00 Greed, manipulation, bold faced lies and unethical practices. 1. Greed. They offered me a New 2022 Toyota Camry for $46688.00. That's like $15000.00 over MSRP. 2. They called and told me they had what I wanted in stock and should come down look, test and buy. I made appointment to go in but after talking to salesman I realized it's was bate and switch. It was a used one with only 5 miles on it. That's when the $46k was revealed. 3. Lie. I asked why it was so much over sticker price and sales said I quote "We sell our used cars for what we pay for them" 4. Unethical. I'm sure Toyota USA would not allow dealers to sell their cars for $15k over sticker, so Desert Toyota New car sales sells the new car to their used car department and now they can sell it for any price (my opinion). If you really like getting ripped off, this is the place. 2nd day It gets better. I get a call from the General Manager Mr Bettencourt. He was very nice and concerned about the situation. We had a nice little chat and he wanted to resolve the situation. He asked what I wanted and I responded with, I just want a fair price price and fair means I'm willing to pay full price for a Toyota, not the $15,000 over retail. Mr Bettencourt acknowledged my request and offered a Like new Prius 2022 than came off the rental fleet with 6400 miles on it. Now we're talking. I go down today to buy a used {one of their fleet rentals} 2022 Prius with an MSRP of about $30,000 give or take a few dollars. The price goes up again to $42,000 or $12000 over retail MSRP aka FULL PRICE! Let me say it again a nearly new Toyota for $12,000 OVER THE MANUFACTUERS LIST PRICE! Of course I was just livid wasting my time going down there. Sales manager asked what I expected to pay and my response was MSRP the General Manager knew I was expecting from our phone conversation. A BIG NO WAY from sales mgr and you don't have to buy it. I called him a snake and left. So, again if you need to buy a car and want to pay thousands, I mean thousand over fair value, open your wallet and let them take what ever they want or just do go to Desert Toyota and get ripped off big time! More
