Now that everyone is back to buying cars after COVID, I wanted everyone to know about this dealer during a visit to lease a car during the COVID days. I was looking for an Atlas Cross Sport. This dealer wanted everyone to know about this dealer during a visit to lease a car during the COVID days. I was looking for an Atlas Cross Sport. This dealer, at the time, had 2 only. I really liked the SUV, and was excited after test driving. Ready to buy for sure. Now the buying experience. FYI, I have been leasing cars for more than 20 years. When we sat down to do the deal, with a very inexperienced salesperson, he put a piece of paper in front of me that had dealer fees that equaled almost $5,000. Additionally, there was no negotiation on the sticker price. I told him I have never leased a vehicle and paid sticker price. Also, there would be NO WAY i would pay $5,000 in dealer fees. His inexperienced response was, "we do not negotiate on price and the dealer fees were required because the dealer had to maintain all the vehicles full of gas... blah, blah, blah. Now, I am not dumb enough to believe selling cars during COVID was difficult for the car industry. The point here is, cars dealers have been making a lot of money with COVID impact for years and years. Now that ALL OF US TOGETHER were dealing with COVID, this dealer took it as an opportunity to "stick it to the consumer." Would never do business with the dealer or Volkswagen in the future. More
