We truly apologize that another customer had a deposit and an appointment on the vehicle the customer was interested in. That gave the other customer first right of refusal on the vehicle. When the other customer wouldn't come to agreement to purchase the vehicle, we reached back out to the customer and allowed the customer to purchase the vehicle. This is a general practice in most of all car dealerships and we adhere to be fair to all of our customers.

This is inaccurate. When I inquired about the car the day prior, there was no mention of this holding policy or another customer when I asked if the car was available. That is why a customer would ask if it is available. If it is being held for an appointment, which is not a standard policy as stated by the attorney general's office I inquired with, then I should've been told the car was being held without a deposit for a test drive. In effect, this policy you've noted holds a vehicle without a deposit for a customer that simply has an appointment to view/test drive it. If that was truly standard practice across all dealerships, they would not allow appointments to be scheduled without additional financial obligations. I've gone to view a car on several occasions in several states over the years only to arrive and the car was sold. Shady practices by a shady dealership.

The general manager of this dealership, Scott, refused to sell me a vehicle through an out of state purchase until local buyers had an opportunity to purchase the vehicle, or if I used their financing. The local buyers that showed up throughout the day were not interested, as I simultaneously tried to purchase the car for 8 hours. Throughout this time, Scott gave me the run around to allow for local appointments to test drive the car and give them priority. Scott sent me a purchase order without calculated tax to waste more time, and told me he knows more about those appointments than I think, so he won’t take my deposit while I finish the purchase. Once Scott finally allowed me to purchase the car because local buyers weren’t interested, he raised the deposit amount from $1,000 to $3,000 and refused to repair the cracked windshield that ultimately FAILED state inspection (for several reasons). The car was held for days after my bank sent forms and payment because staff were on leave and not checking until I called. I had to become an expert in this process just to keep things moving efficiently. Either this is their way of doing business, or this was personally done towards me as an out-of-state purchaser. Regardless, Scott made sure to make each step of what should be an exciting process, purchasing my first Porsche, the worst sales transaction I’ve experienced. My local friends in Missouri had not heard good things about this dealership, and this transaction grounded those rumors. While I should have listened to their advice, the car kept me in the fight to make this purchase. Please understand, it was a FIGHT.
