Great overall experience! Apron arriving at dealership we were promptly greeted by Reese (our salesman) and ask what he could hep us with. After explaining what we're trying to accomplish he set into action. Though he was busy (peek time on a busy Saturday...) he got us into the desired car we wanted to test drive then assisted us with questions we had and laying out the numbers in a straightforward manner once we decided on the new Jetta. Once we were seen by the finance guy he followed up with finishing up the transaction and getting us set up in our new car. Other employing also kept my mom entertained and accommodated (she's in a wheelchair). Reese was very laid back and yet professional. One of my favorite car purchasing experiences to date....and I have purchased A LOT of cars for my a 40 yr old man. Haha I have recommended Reese and the dealership to several people in passing in my town and it's only been a couple weeks since purchase. Most trusted sales person I've ever dealt with Let me tell you about Reese because this is the second car I've purchased through him. When my convertible was feeling too small, I went to him at the beginning of summer with a little hesitation about trading in when the weather was so nice. He directed me to go home! And to drive around all weekend with the top down so I could be sure this is what I wanted to do. After that, it was a couple of months I think before I was really ready to get in to a sedan. When the time came, I knew exactly the price, trim and color that I wanted and just like last time, Reese got it for me at another location and worked his magic to get the payment where I needed it. After the sale, he stays in contact, always ready to help with the smallest of issues. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy new or used! More
Bait and switch, overpriced Two visits in the span of a month, both very poor. First was to see a used sports car. It was beautiful, but easily 30% over market value, and according to CarGurus.com, had been on their lot over 340 days. Despite the fact that I'm a clean-cut 50+ guy who's owned many sports cars and could pay cash, the sales rep (Stephen Garrett) pressured me prior to the test drive, as though I were there to joy-ride the car. It was disrespectful and no way to begin a relationship. After the test, I began asking about room to negotiate the price and the salesman pretty much said I was way off (despite having multiple valuation sites' data in-hand). I mentioned I knew that the car was languishing for a year on their lot and he blew it off, explaining it's "just the way Mr. Dean wants to business". Ironically, while visiting that car, I noticed they had an unusually-high number of new (2015) VW TDI models that had just recently been approved for post-scandal sale. My 2009 TDI was being turned in for the VW scandal, so I was in need of a new family vehicle, too. Not wanting to buy from them, I checked a 250 mile radius and there were almost no other cars meeting my needs, so I begrudgingly visited Dean of KIRKWOOD with my kids. We test drove the car and I was ready to buy, knowing that VW was offering a $5k instant consumer rebate and 72 months @ 0-down/0%. So, that's when my sales guy (Reese Gayden) says "Oh, didn't anyone tell you? The car is being sold at $5,000 OVER STICKER" My chin hit the floor. That's when he sent over his boss, who seemed sheepish and embarrassed, explaining it's "just the way Mr. Dean wants to business". I had also spoken earlier on the phone with Pinky Persons and he also neglected to mention the bait-and-switch pricing. So, in my mind, they are both complicit in this strategy of deception. Here is the good ending: my sales guy from Dean of KIRKWOOD (Ryan Troll) explained to me that despite the common name, they are run by different Dean family members and he offered to get the very car I'd tested for me, which he did. 3 days later, I owned it, with full rebates. I liked Dean of Ballwin so much, I referred 2 more friends and got a $100 referral check for each. I walked away not so much faulting the 3 sales reps (and manager I forgot his name), but the management philosophy of the ownership. Not customer-centric, and reminiscent of the sleazy reputation car dealers have had in the past. Just not a place I want to do business with, ever. Moral of the story: Dean of KIRKWOOD- awful; Dean of BALLWIN - excellent. More

Every visit we made to the dealership, even with our one and a half year old son, was a good experience- comfortable waiting area with snacks, friendly faces making sure we had what we needed to be comfortable/help we needed when moving our items from the old car to the new car, a loaner car to drive while our car was customized.
