They h I was recently in the market for a used vehicle and was searching far and wide for a good deal, during my search i came across Deacon's Jeep. They had a vehicle i was interested in at a very good price and after some information gathering i decided to go through with a purchase through Deacons. Since i live far away Deacons assured me the vehicle was in great condition, the paperwork was all accurate and i had nothing to worry about. On 3/23/16 I gave Deacons a Non-Refundable payment of $1000.00 and they assured me the vehicle would be reserved for me and taken off the market. After this payment i purchased a plane ticket from NYC to Cleveland with the intention of driving the vehicle home. The plane ticket cost me $288.00. On 3/30/2016 (5 days before i was to make the trip to pickup the vehicle) I received a phone-call from one of the managers at Deacons stating "I am sorry but one of the other managers sold your vehicle." I was understandably upset but to add insult to injury they then proceeded to try to sell me the same model of car, a year older, with more miles and less equipped than the original, AT A HIGHER PRICE! A true insult to my intelligence. Deacons did refund me my down payment of $1000.00 but refused to refund me the money i used to purchase a plane ticket with the sole intention of picking up the vehicle, stating that the miles could be used for another flight the next time i needed one. The reasoning behind the dealer not refunding me the money for my plane ticket was because i COULD use the miles IF i ever needed them. It seems to me i wouldnt have purchased this ticket if i didnt intend on doing business with them and when they broke the terms of our deal, they refused to refund me on the basis that ONE DAY I MIGHT use said funds. I do not travel often and those $288.00 would be better served in my pocket vs. an airlines bank account on the premise i may one day use them. Its like telling someone who came to a supermarket to return an apple with a worm in it they wont be refunded their money because they MIGHT ONE DAY go fishing and could use the worm as bait. In conclusion: Deacons operated incredibly dishonestly, adding insult to injury trying to sell me a less equipped older car for more money than i intended to pay, acting like they were "trying to make it right." It appears to me Deacons sold the car i intended to purchase for more money, and then knowing i was in a vulnerable situation tried to unload a vehicle on me. I suggest anyone looking to do business with them consider other options. More
