Great experience! Came down from central IL and was worth the drive! Great people! Small town business instead of big, uptight dealership. Love my new Tacoma! Called about a vehicle that was in stock and was told they won't sell outside a 25 mile radius of the dealership. Harley-davidson dealers tried that in the late 90s. That didn't work. After the sales rep they won't sell outside a 25 mile radius of the dealership. Harley-davidson dealers tried that in the late 90s. That didn't work. After the sales rep hung up on me, I have since then been warning friends and family to stay away from this dealership. More
After saving and searching for my dream car after getting out of the U.S. Army, I finally found it at Dan Hecht Chevrolet in Effingham, Illinois. A Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE. The sales process went OK, a few bu out of the U.S. Army, I finally found it at Dan Hecht Chevrolet in Effingham, Illinois. A Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE. The sales process went OK, a few bumps along the way because I was buying from a state away, but we got through it all and I thought I was in good shape when I took delivery of my Camaro. The car came with a certified pre-owned warranty, and I felt secure that I would be covered in the future should I have any issues. Not long after owning the car, the car started throwing codes for misfire and deterioration of the catalytic converters. No worries, I’ll just bring it in and the warranty will cover it. I brought the car in for repairs and it was discovered that there were aftermarket parts installed on the car that were causing the issue. Aftermarket parts that were installed on the car prior to me purchasing it, and not disclosed to GM by Dan Hecht Chevrolet on the certified pre-owned inspection. Because of this, GM has blocked my factory warranty and canceled the CPO warranty. GM’s response was to go back to Dan Hecht for any and all repairs or compensation as they misrepresented the vehicle when they sold it to me. Bob Hecht, one of the owners at the dealership, was initially OK to work with on the issue when he thought they were going to get GM to cover it. Once GM pulled back, Bob sent me the following message: “Based on the information that we have received and conversations from other professionals in this industry. We have came to a conclusion that we will not be offering any assistance in this current matter. Unfortunately this is a very bad situation for your vehicle to be broken down and we understand.” I am now stuck with a massive bill for diagnostics and repairs that neither GM nor Dan Hecht will cover, and a car that doesn’t run. I would caution anyone from doing business with this dealership. If you’ve experienced something similar with them, have any advice, or would simply like to know more about my experience with them, please feel free to reach out to me. More
Good buying experience but if, you purchase a used vehicle. Take your time and do a complete inspection. They did not advise me of any issues with the vehicle other than an error with the GPS. None of vehicle. Take your time and do a complete inspection. They did not advise me of any issues with the vehicle other than an error with the GPS. None of the issues were mechanical or affected the safety or operation of the vehicle. Dash vents inoperable, crack in windshield, just do a full inspection. They are charging too dollar, make them fix it. More
