We had a very positive experience buying a car from Dahle Used Automart Murray. The sales person, Eliot, was very respectful and responsive, as was Juan, the Finance Manager. They made the pricing structure very clear to us, and also made an effort to get us the best deal on our vehicle - and without pressuring us like often occurs at other dealers. We were so impress that our daughter also purchased a vehicle form Dahle Used Automart Murray two days later! More
I don't usually post reviews. If I’m going to turn on my computer over the weekend, an experience must be over the top fantastic, or bottom of the barrel miserable. Also, our sale If I’m going to turn on my computer over the weekend, an experience must be over the top fantastic, or bottom of the barrel miserable. Also, our salesperson Diana, was wonderful so this review is no reflection on her. Her managers, however, appear to be in the extended car warranty business, not the business of selling cars. Perhaps they should get jobs as a robo-callers instead of car salesmen. We found a truck we wanted to purchase, and the proposed payments did not even come close to lining up with the supposed purchase price, the $8k down payment we had already told them we had planned on using, or even the high interest rate (a ridiculous 8%, considering my husband's near perfect credit score). We asked for an itemized proposal, showing how the final financed amount was calculated. After being given the run around, the "finance manager" finally came out with a breakdown revealing a $4200 extended warranty. We told them we were not interested in the warranty. He explained that the warranty, trade-ins, & preferred financing is where their profit margin comes from. Since we didn’t have a trade in, if we wanted the price listed on the website, if we didn’t buy the extended warranty, (add $4200) we'd be required to use their financing, and we could only put $3000 down. I understand all of that– we've played the game plenty of times before. The problem came next. He asked me what our budget is. I told him our initial budget # ($3-5k less than the listed price) and proceeded to explain that we came in knowing that we may have to make concessions and would be willing to do so for the right vehicle. He never let me finish that part, however, because he immediately interrupted me and began to demand (yes, demand!) to know why we came in to look at a truck that's over our budget. He asked the question multiple times, and every time I would begin to answer, he would immediately interrupt me, demanding again that I answer to the question I was literally trying to answer as he was interrupting me. I have purchased a LOT of vehicles over the years for personal as well as business use, and I have NEVER had a worse experience. We are not unreasonable people. We do our research, and knew the asking price was a fair one, which is why we were willing to go over budget, (without the BS warranty and any other hidden garbage) but we never got that far because he couldn’t stop berating me long enough to get there. At one point, before his defensive and disrespectful attitude sent us walking out the door, he told us they don't need to sell us the truck because they sell plenty without our business. He said he was just trying to help Diana out so she could get a sale. We hadn't even asked them to lower the price or anything at this point– we just wanted to see the details of what they were proposing! I sure hope our salesperson Diana knows that her "boss" or supervisor, or coworker (however the "finance manager" falls in the chain of command) took food from her table today-- he seemed to have a major chip on his shoulder, and it truly cost her the commission. Had we been treated with respect, and had a straight-forward, two-sided conversation, I believe we would have been able to reach a reasonable agreement– more than likely at the advertised price. I also hope my 18 year-old son knows that this is not the norm at other dealerships for the most part. I feel terrible that his first vehicle buying experience started so miserably-- especially after he spent months saving for a sizable down payment, and countless hours researching vehicles to find one he was ready to purchase. We've bought 6 vehicles from "Dahle" dealerships over the years. Not sure if they're all related, but I probably won't take the chance again. If you go to #dahleautomart in Murray, go with caution. Make sure you get all of the details about what they're trying to sell you BEFORE you take a hit to your credit for the inquiry, and definitely BEFORE you spend $4200 more than the advertised price for a warranty you don’t want or need.
