This dealership has a nice staff. They treated me kindly and made the buying process very easy. I went to several other Volvo dealers...mostly Don Beyer Volvo stores and decided to shop someone different. I saved approximately $900 on my Volvo C70. They also gave me $500 more on my 2002 Volvo S80 than Don Beyer. I really don't enjoy the haggling part of the buying process, however Fairfax Volvo made it easy and saved me almost $1500 on the entire transaction. I hope one day Volvo can have just a one fixed price on all there vehicles. This would make it easier and less intimidating to buy a car. More
I was shopping for a new car and cross-shopped between Fairfax and Don Beyer Dulles. The difference between the two dealers was night and day - from the appearance of the dealership itself down to the wo Fairfax and Don Beyer Dulles. The difference between the two dealers was night and day - from the appearance of the dealership itself down to the workings of the deal. Appearance isn't everything though, so I'll just put down what I had issue w/ at Fairfax... I went in on my lunch our to have my trade-in appraised, - was interested in a '07 clearance model that had already been discounted, so I wasn't expecting much negotiation there. I politely mentioned to the salesperson that I was ready to buy the car if they could give me a reasonable trade value, and I was not interested in going back and forth in price negotiations. Low and behold, the salesman comes back w/ a ridiculous trade value for my car - so I reiterated that I didn't want to play around and just wanted a reasonable value for the trade. The sales manager comes over at that point and starts giving me reasons for the value and keeps pushing me to name a figure that I am looking to get. I named my figure (just above a quote from another dealer)- and then he goes through the whole shebang again.. At this point, I just told him that I could see I was wasting my time, and we should cut our losses and I would go elsewhere - which I did, and got $3,000 more for my trade, and the same price for the car I was buying. I don't know if they think people are idiots at this dealership, or if they just like to wear you out by haggling forever, but I would recommend going elsewhere and save time, effort, aggravation and energy. FYI - I had tried to buy a used car at this dealer a year or so ago and had a similar experience - endless haggling w/ no progress. More
Went there to look at a new Volvo. The salesperson who helped me look was very nice and friendly, and showed me around the lot and such. I really wanted to buy a car from him and we did sit down together helped me look was very nice and friendly, and showed me around the lot and such. I really wanted to buy a car from him and we did sit down together. But everything went downhill when I made the offer and he confessed that the "manager" had to review it. So he went and before I knew it he brought back one of those old-fashioned agressive and pressure-type salesman with him. This guy obviously tried to give the whole "we aren't making any profits with your offer; I can't feed my kids if I give you the car for that blah blah blah". I had to walk out at the end. I felt really really bad for the first salesperson, he was so nice and helpful and he certainly didn't have any agressive demeanor. But I could easily see part of his commission being eaten up by the other guy. I ended up buying the Volvo from another dealer after going through their internet salesperson. (The other dealer BEAT even my own offer!) More
Just a few bits of information for the fellow motorists, all pertains to Volvo service and sales only - no experience with VW:

Service (the reason I kept coming back is the 0 deductible on my extende all pertains to Volvo service and sales only - no experience with VW:

Service (the reason I kept coming back is the 0 deductible on my extended warranty at this particular dealer):

1. After the car has been serviced, I noticed a scratch on the front bumper. I addressed it with a sevice employee and they promised to get it fixed. After 3 month of having the "paint guy is out on vacation, busy, sick etc" and at least 3 visits to the dealership (a 15-mile drive) I realized it was not worth the trouble anymore.
2. When explicitly asked to check the upper engine mount before my warranty expires the reps told me it was fine. I did replace it at my own cost in 2 month.
3. The quality of the work performed was always good, however I almost always had to chase somebody in the service dept.(over the phone) to find out whether my car was ready or not. I think I only got a phone call with a status update once out of 5 or 6 times I serviced my car there.

Buying the car (all can possibly be attributed to one bad salesman):
1. The classic "trips to the manager" in an attempt to get an extra $500 after the deal has been verbally closed.
2. A promise to fix a few minor scratches that was never fulfilled.

Finally, if I may, I would like to recommend Don Bayer Volvo - Dulles. I really enjoyed dealing with both service and sales personnel there on all of the occasions. The staff was very helpful and willing to do minor things such as resetting an oil change light for free and with a smile. Cannot comment on the quality of their mechanical work since I have never had my car repaired there (only bought parts).

Best wishes to all of you,
S More
Bought a second hand Beetle Turbo last year. The process was unbelievably painful. This was my first experience of buying a second hand car at a dealer, and we had the fullrange of hard sell techniques, an was unbelievably painful. This was my first experience of buying a second hand car at a dealer, and we had the fullrange of hard sell techniques, anger(!), grovelling, schmoozing and 'let me speak to my manager' routines. We were there for 5 hours in total (including about an hour on the financing). Waste of a day. We did get a reasonably good price on the car in the end, but you'd think I'd just stolen food from the sales guys kids dinner plate. Tedious in the extreme. More
I would like to say about the service there. First of all I bought a car used a month ago and it is a very awesome car. But i had some service work done to it by under warranty. That went fine, but i all I bought a car used a month ago and it is a very awesome car. But i had some service work done to it by under warranty. That went fine, but i ask them to put some wiper blades on and they said we can just slip them on for you. First of all I bought them there and that was 10.00 and some change, then when he said it be done in five mintues he charge me 25.00$ extra dollars to slide them on. He said that is there 10 mintue rate for people. I want to say after that I would never take my car there just because of the rip off of that. He said it took five mintes but had to charge me for that. Give me a break people you just lost a customer for life. More
I dropped my car off for service. When I picked it up, it had a huge dent in the side. I brought it back the next day, and before I did I called and asked if I should have someone come with me to give me it had a huge dent in the side. I brought it back the next day, and before I did I called and asked if I should have someone come with me to give me a ride. They said yes. They said they couldn't give me a loaner car because they didn't have any cars there. When I showed up, they told me I couldn't leave the car, so my dad had to drive to Fairfax from Ashburn for no reason. They said I had to call to set up an appointment with their body shop, which I did. I asked if I could leave it on a Snday, but there was no drop box. Now the car has to be repainted, my resale value has dropped, I've had to drive out to Fairfax from Leesburg 3 times, and no one has ever apologized. This dealer sucks. More
