So the Owner of Fairfax Volvo gave me a personal call. I wasn't aware he was the owner and thought he was one of the managers. In short, he sounded deeply apologetic and rather shocked of my bad reviews o wasn't aware he was the owner and thought he was one of the managers. In short, he sounded deeply apologetic and rather shocked of my bad reviews on this channel and also on yelp. We went over the negative comments I made and let's say things were either confirmed or changed of opinion. I am not receiving any special treatment or any 'gifts' for my change of my heart. The fact that the owner pays close attention to these social validity channels/rating sites gives me peace of mind. I thought my voice would only be heard through other volvo owners. So thanks Jim - I appreciate the value you see in customer connection/relationships. I think I do owe you guys a 2nd chance visit sometime soon. BTW. They do have loaners now.. :) More
I had a perceived position lamp failure with the associated indicator light going off...and I special ordered the LED replacement lamp. Clark had the technician thoroughly inspect the problem and d associated indicator light going off...and I special ordered the LED replacement lamp. Clark had the technician thoroughly inspect the problem and discovered that the replacement lamp was not necessary. A cheaper, smaller bulb and a faulty circuit program needed to be replaced/reset. He refunded my money for the more expensive lamp and got me going very quickly. Much appreciated Clark. I will return to this dealership for service. More
Once again, I had a very pleasant visit for my scheduled maintenance work. Clark Speaker is very thorough and doesn't talk down to women as I experienced at other dealerships. He truly cares about my happ maintenance work. Clark Speaker is very thorough and doesn't talk down to women as I experienced at other dealerships. He truly cares about my happiness and safety. When leaving, I ran into my sales rep, Wayne Smith, and he always remembers my name and always greets me with a smile and handshake. He also inquires about my satisfaction and makes sure I'm doing well. Although the job requirements are trained, these employees have the personality to go far beyond "doing their job". I feel that they really care about their clients. Way to go guys! More
Clark Speaker always helps me with all the little things I need for my vehicle, whether its the regular service or ordering an extra like a cargo liner for my new XC60. He and sales guy James Johnson even h I need for my vehicle, whether its the regular service or ordering an extra like a cargo liner for my new XC60. He and sales guy James Johnson even helped me unload dog show equipment (including a crate with a dog) so that we could install the liner right then and there. Clark always goes the extra mile. More

I have serviced my Volvo S40 at Fairfax Volvo exclusively since I bought it from Fairfax Volvo in 2000. Two Service Writers have supported me the whole time ... Terry Welcome from 2000-2010 when Terry retir since I bought it from Fairfax Volvo in 2000. Two Service Writers have supported me the whole time ... Terry Welcome from 2000-2010 when Terry retired and Clark Speaker since 2010 when he arrived. Terry and Clark are the reasons Fairfax Volvo continmues to get my business and will get the nod for a new Volvo, probably in 2013. It is most unfortunate that Terry Welcome retired because his cheerful support of customers and comprehensive assurance of quality service were superb all those years. Clark Speaker had big shoes to fill in my mind ... and he has done that superlatively. More to the point, Clark has had to deal with my "old car" and its inherent and substantial problems. To Clark's great credit, many problems have been hard to isolate and tedious if not challenging to remedy. I cannot say enough about (1) Clark's perseverance to root out the car problems ... all of the problems ... (2) his patience in dealing with me as some repairs required days of effort or sometimes revisits, (3) his leadership and quality assurance with his team of mechanics, and (4) his own personal knowledge of car mechanics and systems which give him insights that others may not have and more than once have led to solutions when his mechanics might have been stymied. Clark has "stepped up to the plate" very well in the last two years we have worked together and I can rely upon him and his team of mechanics to "get it right" and work diligently until they do. Fairfax Volvo will continue to reap my business. One other kudo is that I sincerely appreciate that Fairfax Volvo has a free WIFI for customers to use. I see many taking advantage if the WIFI. I do so all the time and at length. Its availability means I can take my Volvo for service and not lose much if any business time, because I can access my office work from remote. That's a big deal. Also, a word about Wayne Smith in Sales. Wayne has been a loyal supporter of my new car interests for some years and a welth of knowedge. Equally patient, he does not press and remains polite and cordial ... probably knowing he'll get my sale. More
I recently had an unacceptably poor experience with Fairfax Volvo, located at 11050 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, Va 22030. On Friday December 14th, my wife took her Volvo S70 in to their service department Fairfax Volvo, located at 11050 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, Va 22030. On Friday December 14th, my wife took her Volvo S70 in to their service department for routine maintenance, a head light was out, and one or two other minor things. We received and initial estimate of approximately $1,700 for “recommended repairs” and other maintenance from their service department. $1,700 was more than we were looking to spend, but at the time we had no reason to doubt the recommendation. At no time was any problem mentioned or identified with the clutch, there was no problems presenting with the clutch when we brought the vehicle in, and in what I can only assume must have been a through inspection to produce $1,700 in “recommended repairs” no issues with the clutch were identified. This will come up again. We ended up going with approximately $1,500 worth of repairs; we opted out of the power steering system flush. When we picked the vehicle up Saturday 15 December, my wife instantly noticed that there was now a problem with the clutch, it appeared much tighter and the vehicle was having trouble accelerating. After both of us taking turns driving it we concluded that there was a new and very significant problem with the vehicle and ultimately unsafe for our 2 year-old son to ride in. We called the service department and after some time and discussion they agreed to take it back. About an hour and a half after paying their service department $1,500 to fix our vehicle, it was back in there with new problems apparently caused by the Fairfax Volvo department. The issue sat unresolved until Monday 17 December, when we were finally contacted by their department, they claimed they had done nothing wrong during their initial workmanship, but the clutch was slipping, and it would be an additional $2,300 to fix. They believed it was only a coincidence that the problem developed after they had worked on the vehicle. I am not a believer in coincidence and to believe that the two events are not connected defies all reason. The clutch was fine, the Fairfax Volvo service department then worked on the vehicle, and we got the vehicle back in worse condition than we provided it in. In effect I paid Fairfax Volvo $1,500 to BREAK my vehicle. I opted not to have any more repairs done at their service department, as I had not reason to believe they would actually fix my vehicle no matter how much money I paid. I picked up my vehicle on Tuesday 18 December and will NOT be returning. Of particular note, the Fairfax Volvo Assistant Service Manager, Clark Speaker, is either dishonest or incompetent. As soon as we contacted him that there was a problem with the vehicle after the initial workmanship, he became difficult to work with and often hostile or outright rude. He did not appear to want to acknowledge an issue or make any effort to ensure this issue came to a satisfactory resolution. Beyond being incredibly rude to both my wife and me, he refused to acknowledge the possibility that the Fairfax Volvo service department could have been culpable in damaging my vehicle, refused to back up or stand behind the workmanship, and implied that I should simply “take his word” as a mechanic, that they had done nothing wrong. Well, the mechanic broke my vehicle; I cannot trust his opinion or judgment. The only two conclusions I can reach from this is that either, he intentionally broke my vehicle to run up the bill, or he or his tech’s poor work caused a new problem with my vehicle that they refuse to take responsibility for. Neither reflects well on Mr. Speaker or their service department. Ultimately, I would rather have my car die on the side of the road than use the Fairfax Volvo service department ever again. The poor workmanship, abhorrent customer service, particularly the professional conduct of Mr. Speaker, and refusal to correct mistakes are no way to run a business. Never will I, any members of my family, or my friends ever do business with Fairfax Volvo again. I regret going to their service department in the first place and wish I had been more through in my online research, and seen all the negative reviews and feedback against that service department, to know I never should have trusted them. I've had many experiences with auto dealers and I can say the service, price and overall experience was outstanding. This was by far the easiest, least stressful, most professional car buying transaction I have ever experienced. After spending time at another dealership, I called Sales Manager Pete Kesterson to ask professional car buying transaction I have ever experienced. After spending time at another dealership, I called Sales Manager Pete Kesterson to ask a few questions. It was immediately evident that Pete knows a great deal about Volvos and the company's programs. I learned more true facts in a 10 minute phone call with Pete than I did from an entire afternoon at that other place. Pete located several outstanding cars that met my specifications, described the differences of each vehicle, and helped me reach an informed decision. His communications style, whether in person, on the phone, or via electronic media is clear, direct, and respectful. I really appreciated that Pete would tell me if he didn't know the answer to a question, but he would also commit to finding an answer and let me know when he would be back in touch -- he was true to his word and answered all questions in a timely manner. His professional demeanor, customer service-oriented approach, and no-pressure tactics were a refreshing change. Best of all, once I committed to the purchase, the paperwork process was smooth and really fast. A great car buying experience. More
