It The best thing I can say about the people at Crystal Lake Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Illinois is that they are slimy, duplicitous, manipulative xxxx. It was like the undercoating scene from “Fargo”. I went in there to buy a Jeep Cherokee for my niece. The finance manager was a complete b*xxx, employing strong-arm tactics to get us to buy useless add-ons. Through a bit of sleight of hand, the salesman misled us on the number of months for our payments, which actually increased our total price. We didn’t recognize the error until we were so deep into the buying process that we didn’t want to turn back. The salesman and finance manager carefully calculated this ruse. They knew my niece was in love with the car, and that it was unlikely that I would break her heart at that stage of the game. I left this dealership feeling like I was covered with the thin film of mucous and nauseated by their tactics. Anyone else who gives this dealership a positive review either is a relative, and employee, or a customer who doesn’t realize that they were taken. More
Run far far away from this unethical, rude dealership and the used car manager Tom! This dealer either does not inspect their used cars at all, or their service department is unable to do the inspection cor the used car manager Tom! This dealer either does not inspect their used cars at all, or their service department is unable to do the inspection correctly. Even worse, they have absolutely the worst customer service I have seen in years! My family bought a used 2008 Buick Rendezvous two months ago from them, and have had nothing but problems. We bought the car after an decent experience with the salesman, and just before we drove off the lot I noticed they did not give us an extra key. They said that they would get one for us, and call me later that week. Well, after two weeks with no calls we called them and they said we were out of luck. They were all of a sudden not OK with making us a second key like they promised. There were no apologies and we were rudely told that they could not get the prior owner to hand in their second set. And they refused to make us a new key, which was the first sign that we were not dealing with professionals that will say anything to make a sale. Knowing how cheap a key is for a dealer to make and how they refused, I started to get really worried about the car in the my driveway. Two weeks after buying the car, we took it in as we noticed that the shifting was not right. The car ended up having 6 major issues with it (Transmission repair, Power Steering leak, Two tie rods & an alignment, & the rear door latch was broken). We were gutted and got a second opinion, which came back with the same repairs. Both repair shops we brought the car to were disgusted that the dealer sold us a car in this condition. They confirmed that if they had completed an inspection they would have noticed these problems. We were able to get some repairs done under warranty, but we contacted the dealer letting them know about the repairs that were not covered. The sales manager Tom’s reply was, “So…what do you want me to do about it?” I was floored when I witnessed first-hand how rude Tom was when a customer calls and wants to calmly discuss a problem. There was no empathy and certainly no apology from Tom. If Tom had any pride in his dealership, he would want to confront an issue head on and at the very least apologize. But he doesn’t, so you will get attitude and rude comments. Bottom line. If you want to buy a car that needs multiple repairs, go to this dealer. If you want the manager to be rude and condescending, go to this dealer. IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN BEING AND BUY A CAR THAT HAS ACTUALLY BEEN INSPECTED, RUN FAR FAR AWAYS FROM THIS SHADY RUDE DEALERSHIP!!!!!!!!! Let my mistake be a lesson for others, do NOT even walk on to this dealer’s lot. More
DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM JACK IRWIN OR ROBERT MURPHY. These two are the epitome of dishonest used car salesman. If I could, I would rate this dealership as a ZERO. I purchased a car online from t MURPHY. These two are the epitome of dishonest used car salesman. If I could, I would rate this dealership as a ZERO. I purchased a car online from them, sight unseen. They have 15 pictures on the internet and it looked great for a price I was looking for. I had Mr. Irwin do a complete inspection, walk around the car, check the engine, heat/AC, electronics, etc. for me since I was an out-of-state buyer. He assured me that the car was in excellent condition with light scratches on the bumper, but nothing else. He also confirmed that the car had a sunroof, new tires, had been freshly detailed, and the engine was as clean as could be, not a drop of anything leaking. He was also very clear that the car was a non-smoker car. I went ahead and trusted his opinion, purchased the car, and had it shipped to me. When it arrived, the car was absolutely filthy. I picked it up at night, so I believed as was well. On the drive home, I noticed there was not a moonroof, and that there was a heavy SMOKER smell to the car. Those were must-haves for me, and I immediately emailed Mr. Irwin and informed him of my disappointment. He didn't email back for a couple of days. Meanwhile, the next day in the daylight, I discovered a large oil leak, a cracked front bumper, a multiple rust bubbles on the roof of the car. Mr. Irwin had now told several lies-he said the car was in excellent condition (cracked bumper and rust), he said it has a moonroof (none), and he said the engine was in excellent condition (large oil leak). When Mr. Irwin finally emailed back, he said they would do nothing and said I should expect such defects with a used car. I didn't expect a brand new vehicle-but I did expect the features and description that he gave. I called Mr. Murphy (sales manager) to inform him of my dissatisfaction. He laughed over the phone when I said I wanted them to address the problems. The problem for them is that I hadn't signed the bill of sale, so since they wouldn't do anything to fix their lies, I told them I would be returning the car. Immediately Mr. Murphy offered to do something when he found out that they were still liable for the car. He offered a whopping $200 to fix over $1,000 worth of repairs. Not worth it. Then the manager, Mr. Rosenberg, told me to return his F***ing car. Very professional. I returned the car to them, and it got back to them within 2 days (they were extremely rude, not to mention it cost me over $600 in shipping back and forth that I had to pay for because of their deceit). When I called Mr. Murphy to inquire about when I would receive a refund, he hung up on me and would not answer my calls. Finally, 3 weeks after returning the car, I finally received a full refund. This dealership is unreal. By far the most sleazy, untrustworthy, deceitful individuals I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Robert Murphy and Jack Irwin-be upfront and we would have completely avoided this unpleasant experience. Shop here at your own risk, but there are many other dealerships who are willing to deal ethically with you and be upfront in the first place. More
DO NOT USE THIS DEALERSHIP!!! BEWARE of snakes, dogs, wolves, and vampires!!! All they want to do is suck your blood, drain your bank account, and sell you premium, A-1 CRAP! After 12,000 miles standar wolves, and vampires!!! All they want to do is suck your blood, drain your bank account, and sell you premium, A-1 CRAP! After 12,000 miles standard driving on local roads with a brand new pick-up truck, they insisted I needed to replace my brakes and rotors. Because the truck was right at the 12,000 mile mark, they weren't covered under the warranty. THIEVES - THEY ARE ALL THIEVES. Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm stupid. If you have to replace the rotors and brakes after 12,000 miles then your product SUCKS and no one should buy Chrysler products EVER! More
July 2011: This company doesn't even deserve 1 star. The techs put our lives in danger. Our 2008 Chrysler Town and Country was serviced twice for brakes within 1 month. The first time while changing the rea techs put our lives in danger. Our 2008 Chrysler Town and Country was serviced twice for brakes within 1 month. The first time while changing the rear brake pads, they incorrectly installed the caliper and a clip broke off, resulting in a unusual noise. We took it back to have the mistake fixed prior to leaving for a vacation, traveling from IL to NC. Due to ANOTER technician mistake (while fixing the first mistake) the lug nuts were not tightened enough or over torqued. All but 1 lug nut and stud sheered off completely. The rear wheel was being held on by 1 lug nut (on a highway going 75mph)!! Leaving our family in a very dangerous, possibly fatal situation. Their poor service and negligent technicians are fully to blame. After having the vehicle serviced in Kentucky. We took the faulty part to Crystal Lake Chrysler to show the mistake that had been made. We were mistreated and every person we dealt with was disrespectful stating "well, cars break" not taking responsibility for the negligent mistakes. July 2012: Now a year later we are being mistreated again by the Service Manager, George. We took it in to have a recall fixed and the brakes done. We were very skeptical due to our last experience but gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked to have the best of their service team only touch the vehicle. They remembered us from our incident last year. The service manager argued stating "they never touched the rear brakes" and raised his voice, being very rude. But when confronted as to why last year our rear wheel/brake was the problem (DUE TO THE BRAKES BEING DONE), he gets very defensive. I am speechless. They are so unprofessional and rude and do not take responsibility for their negligence. I advise everyone to not go anywhere near this dealership. We plan to contact Chrysler's corporate office and the BBB to report this terrible facility. More
I went in to look at a used car. I offered $4000 cash for the vehicle with a down payment of 2000 and a "total loss check" coming Monday to complete the transaction. The salesman came backa dn stated we do the vehicle with a down payment of 2000 and a "total loss check" coming Monday to complete the transaction. The salesman came backa dn stated we don't take deposits but on Tuesday we had another inquiry and they are coming ion this weekend and said they would pay the full asking price of 4997.00...well the car was allright and for the price I would have taken it but I placed a phone call to another dealership and ended up buying a car for $9000....their loss as I had CASH !!!!!!!!!
