This was my best ever auto purchase. I used USAA buying service, receiving three prices from dealers in Orlando, St. Petersburg and Tampa (Courtesy). While dealing with the Courtesy Hyundai of Tampa, Florida, I was greeted in a friendly manner with out pressure. The salesman, Scott McInnes, nor Mr. Starling did not pressure us to buy that day. My husband and I were waiting on news of a job for my husband that would determine if I need a vehicle or not. Scott called to check in and just let us know that he valued our business and that he hoped that my husband got good news soon. The car was for me and Scott understood that but never made my husband or I feel any less invested in the vehicle. My husband got the job and I called Scott to come in and purchase the vehicle. At the time that we came to Courtesy the color selection for the vehicle I desired were very very limited; of which I was not remotely interested in purchasing. Scott understood and the search was on; he located the exact color and standard transmission that I wanted. He drove down to and from Miami to pick up while making a trade with them for the car I wanted. The transaction was done quick and efficient once the car arrived. I have received calls from: Hyundai Headquarters, Courtesy Hyundai as well as from Scott McInnes to make sure everything was okay and if I needed any further assistance with the new car. More

I bought my last 2 cars from Courtesy. True to their name,each time I was treated with courtesy and professionalism and made to feel welcome. He was an educator more than a salesman, patiently walking me through several test drives in a logical fashion that helped me determine which vehicle was right for me. No pressure; no feeling like he was trying to control the selling process. We had a relaxed conversation where he answered every question from me and my girlfriend. By his guidance, I found a car I fell in love with. Throughout the negotiation process, offers and counter-offers were mixed with personal experiences, fun and humor. We always felt respected and were treated as Steve's guests. When the deal was closed, he worked quickly to get the car through the final detailing process while we wrapped up with the finance manager, who was equally personable and polite. We left with a new car that exceeded my expectations and at a very comfortable price. No stress, no worries and a great looking Sonata with one of the best warranties in the business. I have never been so insulted. A little back-story: I'm purchasing a car by myself for the first time without my parents (I'm a 23 year old woman), so I'm taking this decision seriously. I've gone to every major car dealership in order to see what car I want, and I've narrowed it down to the Hyundai Sonata and the Volkswagen Jetta, both of which I really like in different ways. I can pay cash for either (though if interest rates are low enough, I’ll finance). I'm extremely busy right now, and I'm going out of town this week, so I don't want to make my final purchase until I get back in a little over a week. Today, I went to the Kuhn Volkswagen dealer on West Kennedy Blvd, and they were extremely nice and helpful and worked with me answering my questions for at least 2 hours, even though I was very clear that I wasn't going to buy a car today, but in a couple weeks. They even appraised my car for a trade in. Then I went to Courtesy Hyundai so I could drive the Sonata again and see which car I really want (I'm leaning towards the Sonata). The previous day, I went to Crowne Hyundai in St. Petersburg, and the sales people there treated me great. But since Courtesy Hyundai was right around the corner from Kuhn Volkswagen, I decided to check it out. I met a salesman who seemed to not take me seriously from the get-go, maybe because of my age, but I'm not sure (I thought he told me his name was Carlos, but his business card says Carlo Camacho). From the very beginning, I thought he just didn't care about me. He let me drive the car again, but when we got to his office to talk, everything really went downhill. I told him that I was still deciding between the Sonata and the Jetta, and that I wanted to see what kinds of deals he could offer me after what I saw at the Volkswagen dealer. I said I would be purchasing in a couple weeks once I got back in town, he then (in so many words) told me that he wouldn't deal with me since I wasn't buying a car today. I then asked him if he would at least appraise my car (I wanted to see if they would appraise it higher than the Volkswagen dealer did), and he said no. He said to come back in two weeks when I was "serious,” since this was his “livelihood” and he would work with me then. I told him I was serious, and that I would not be coming back. I really don’t understand why he wouldn’t talk to me- there were only 30 minutes left in the workday and no other customers around. All I wanted to get from him were some answers- what interest rate could he offer me, what were the dealer fees, etc. I just wanted to ask some financial questions, not start the negotiation process. The Volkswagen dealer gave me all this and more. Suffice to say, I will never again go to Courtesy Hyundai. I will also be calling them tomorrow to get their corporate number and I will be making a formal complaint. More
