**One-Star Review for Courage Kia, Lowell** I had an extremely disappointing experience at Courage Kia on December 18th. I visited the dealership to address an error message regarding my front left turn extremely disappointing experience at Courage Kia on December 18th. I visited the dealership to address an error message regarding my front left turn signal, even though all signals were functioning. Since I had just purchased the vehicle two weeks prior, I also requested a full inspection for peace of mind. Initially, the service team informed me that the headlight would need replacing, and they claimed it wouldn’t be covered under warranty due to a scratch on the right headlight, quoting me $3,000 for the repair. I pointed out that the issue was with the left turn signal, so why would the right headlight need fixing? After some back-and-forth, they abruptly changed their story, stating it would be covered under warranty and providing me with a date for the part’s arrival. However, the day after my visit, I noticed what appeared to be damage on the passenger side door, which looked consistent with a lift point. Concerned, I called the dealership immediately, and a manager told me to bring the car in at 7:45 AM on December 20th. This was quite an inconvenience as I live two hours away in Asheville. Upon my arrival, the service representative was initially helpful and acknowledged the damage. He mentioned that they would need to schedule a visit to the body shop and apologized for the inconvenience. As we began filling out the paperwork, a man from the back office interrupted and asked about the issue. I explained the situation and showed him the damage. What followed was shocking. He outright denied that the lift could have caused the damage and aggressively asserted that I had done it myself. He pointed to scratches on the undercarriage, claiming they were evidence of a wreck, completely ignoring my explanations and the condition of the opposite side, which showed no damage. His demeanor quickly escalated; he began berating me and yelling. For my safety, I started recording to document the interaction. As tension rose, I told him that he was being unreasonable. He then said I was banned from Kia and dismissed any concerns I had about my warranty claim, insisting it was “my problem now.” His face was inches from mine when he yelled at me to leave, which made me feel threatened. I walked to the parking lot to call Kia of America for assistance, and he continued to shout threats regarding trespassing. To my dismay, after this encounter, I received paperwork indicating that my warranty claim for the headlight was denied due to the same scratch they initially mentioned—on the right side—and the fact that I had considered seeking legal advice because of the treatment I received. The behavior exhibited by this head service manager reflects poorly on the entire Courage Kia dealership. I’ve never experienced such unprofessional behavior at any business, especially early in the morning when I was seeking assistance. I strongly advise potential customers to avoid Courage Kia if you value respectful and courteous service—it’s simply not worth the stress. More
They sold us a car without telling us they did not have the title. They sold us a car that was not clean but promised to get it to the standards of the 160 point checking system Kia promises. After selling the title. They sold us a car that was not clean but promised to get it to the standards of the 160 point checking system Kia promises. After selling us the car, they did not give us any selling paperwork. We went times to get it. They said the system was down and no word on the title yet. They finally said the car had been properly inspected and no issues were found. Well, we found several. Headlight cover severely scratched, paint chipped and a huge chunk of paint off of the hood, door handle on passenger side would not lock wby pushing the button on the handle. We were promised that these would be corrected. The 1st time we took it in, they kept it 10 days without giving us a loaner car and I had to call and find out they just hadn't gotten to it yet.No word on when it would be ready. When we did pick up the car and it appeared that it had been driven over 100 miles. Since I didn't take a picture of the odometer, I said nothing. The next time one of the 2 paint jobs were done. They advised that because a pinstripe was involved in the other, the awful toichuo would have to do. The 2nd time they had it for service it had 123 miles to empty. When we picked up the car 7 days later, it indicated less than 30, get gas on the panel. They will not fix the other items promised. They texted to say the handle had come in and to schedule an appointment. I called that day. Set an appointment for the next Wednesday and asked how long they'd have it so we could make car arrangements. I was told they'd get back to me that afternoon. The day before the scheduled appointment, I texted that we were canceling because we had not received a call about the time for the repair. They then said it would only take a few hours, but I had already made an appointment with another places to get it fixed and will.not be using or recommending anybody to use Courage Kia. More
Do not! Do not deal with this dealership if it comes to maintenance or anything recall related. Went to have an engine replacement done due to a catalytic co Do not deal with this dealership if it comes to maintenance or anything recall related. Went to have an engine replacement done due to a catalytic converter problem. Metal shavings in the exhaust. Even though the recall for that year Kia was for an engine rod bearing hole had been wrongly bored. But if it didn't have that problem. Where does the metal shavings come from? They agreed to let us have the catalytic converter replaced so our car could pass inspection. Even went so far as to price match another dealership because they overprice their part. 1800 dollars for a cat at courage...1500 dollars from another. Not to mention the second dealership went as far as saying they could get one for 800. Ummm...that wasn't mentioned at this dealership? No it was after all going to be their quote of 3800 for the cat, sensors (which didn't need to be done) and that wasn't including labor. So anyways....we did the work ourselves, even when promised by this dealership that it wouldn't affect the recall process. Oh and not to mention everyone that agreed to that got canned. Got rid of the check engine light ...so they come back with" Well if the check engine light isn't on then they won't touch it and the engine won't be replaced. Not to mention that when we got the light to go off we decided unfortunately to have them to do one of their free inspections for all NC Kias. We go up there. Asked for an inspection...they didn't ask for the registration right off as any other garage would. An hour later we find out we don't have any tail lights. They claim that would be a 200 dollar fix. Um ..excuse me for light bulbs? 16 dollar light bulbs at an AutoZone. Let's not forget that I live so close to this dealership that my engine can't even reach proper operating temperature and I did a walk around my car to make sure all the lights, horn, and everything was working beforehand. So they're telling me within a minute drive that my taillights went out? Sure. This dealership is full of xxxx mechanics that'll basically vandalize your car to make a buck ..several thousand if you're not lucky. Staff is rude and dismissive, and don't really like to be called out on their xx. I was kicked out when I was showing my disdain for the way I've been treated over my visits. I repeat...do not deal with this dealership...xxxx not only with maintenance. I wouldn't even buy a car from them. More

They promised free oil changes and when I went in for the first one they denied that I got free oil changes with my new car. The only reason I gave this dealership 2 stars was because the service guys were very nice and did do 1 free but said there would not be any more. Also I was told I got the best interest rate they had but came home and that same day saw an ad on TV with an interest rate 1 percent less than what I got. If they are talking they are lying! More
DISHONEST, Distasteful, Unethical, Unprofessional are just a few words to describe Courage Kia. Funny how they call themselves Courage Kia because they really have no courage at all! My experience with just a few words to describe Courage Kia. Funny how they call themselves Courage Kia because they really have no courage at all! My experience with this dealership was bad start to finish and just keeps getting worse more than 6 months later. It began in October 2022 when I purchased a new Sportage from them. I live 2 hours away and they were the only dealership nearby who had the exact model I wanted. So we settled on a price over the phone and I drove up the next morning and was there when they opened. Upon arrival to purchase the car, it was the wrong interior and not the interior the Website showed nor the one the salesman confirmed it had. Due to the limited inventory and having already agreed to a price, I proceeded with the purchase even though it was not the interior I wanted. Problem #1. Problem #2 involved the finance person, Donald Grant. He was rude and got extremely angry when my father advised that I should not sign up for the extended warranty. He aggressively berate me about the “bad advice.” Problem #3 has been ongoing. As part of the deal a maintenance plan was included – it was $599 and included oil changes for 3 years or 36,000 miles (6 oil changes). I had a maintenance plan through Kia (fidelity) with my previous Kia Sportage and loved it so I happily agreed to purchase another. However, I outright asked and was assured multiple times that I could use this maintenance plan at any Kia dealership and that it wouldn’t be a problem. I specifically asked if they were sure because I didn’t live in Charlotte and would need to have my car serviced in South Carolina where I live. They promised me it wouldn’t be a problem. Fast forward to March 2023, I was ready to get my first oil change. I went to my local Kia dealership and tried to use my maintenance plan. They looked up my VIN and told me I didn’t have a maintenance plan with Kia but one from a third party that they do not accept. I paid for the oil change and called Courage. I spoke with David Pritchard, the sales manager, who gave me his personal cell number and assured me that this was a mistake, and he would call my dealership and straighten it out. In the meantime, he would mail me a check for the oil change. I never got that check. After some investigation, I discovered that the maintenance plan is theoretically “nationwide” because any dealership can opt into this third-party warranty but many do not. So it’s not actually nationwide because it is dependent on the dealership being part of the Power Protect network. Never was I told this and never did they suggest calling my local dealership to ensure they accepted this plan. I’ve now been dealing with this since March and its June. Nobody from Courage will return my phone calls. I’ve been trying to cancel the plan that I can’t use and have it credited back to my loan. I tried to go around Courage and call the maintenance plan company, Power Protect, myself and talked with a woman named Crystal Harris. She discovered the check had been sent to the wrong address which is baffling. 2 weeks ago I was promised by both Rachel Cook at the Courage Finance office and by Harris that a new check was being issued and mailed and then my contract would be cancelled. I haven’t received the check nor will either party return my emails. This dealership has made countless mistakes at my expense and have done nothing to rectify the situation. I have tried to handle this over the phone like an adult and have made countless attempts to fix the problem since none of the 3 Kia dealerships near me accept this plan. It seems Courage Kia wants to play games. So let’s the games begin! I am in the process of writing a formal complaint to any/all necessary entities Including Kia corporate for this dealership’s dishonesty, misleading and downright unethical practices! More

Charles Yates I had similar experience over the phone. A vehicle I was interested in is in transit,. I stated I would be interested but without dealer added options. I was told they couldn't sell a car w A vehicle I was interested in is in transit,. I stated I would be interested but without dealer added options. I was told they couldn't sell a car without adding extras. Salesman attitude and comment was well if you don't buy someone else will. They don't get it. Doesn't sound like much as changed since the Kia dealership was sued and forced to sell and change the name back in 2019. Maybe the Keffer auto group needs to be contacted. Oh but wait Keffer Kia only gets a 2.6 on here. I will not do business here and tell everyone I can not to buy here either. Businesses just think they can treat customers anyway and have no pride in their name, reputation or service. Without customers you have no business. More
Sorry David has to take the fall for the Dealership because those "up the line" are too sorry to put their name(s) on anything. Loved the vehicle, was ready to buy, and then the lies and manipulation because those "up the line" are too sorry to put their name(s) on anything. Loved the vehicle, was ready to buy, and then the lies and manipulations ruined everything. There were two identical vehicles for sale. One had $7K worth of Dealer add on options and one did not. I hade no interest in said options - so that was the first $7K "problem." I was offered a trade in value for my vehicle which I accepted. Over 4 days we went back and forth and both sides made some give and take. We went from a variance in excess of $7K down to $2K. I reminded them that their last "purchase agreement" still included a $2K item they had previously agreed would be removed. OK - you take off the $2K - send me the final so I can get the Cashiers Check cut and I will be there tomorrow to complete the transaction. THEN the faceless soul sent me another email to tell me I was till $4K "SHORT" because "only a fool would presume your trade in could POSSIBLY be worth what had been offered by THE DEALERSHIP in writing for the last 4 days." At that point, I knew for a fact - I was dealing with a company that presumed I was a fool. I hope no one EVER is "foolish" enough to let their tactics manipulate you into signing a contract. Get EVERYTHING in WRITING. Use a calculator to keep track of the numbers, and ONLY sign a contract once you have let your banker, or some other impartial party review all that was written down by the dealership to make sure you have not been bamboozled by a manipulative hustle. The service manager here has made me lose faith in KIA warranty and products. Brought a 2020 kia optima sx turbo in with a miss now have to tow it away with a bad engine. Warranty work was denied due to warranty and products. Brought a 2020 kia optima sx turbo in with a miss now have to tow it away with a bad engine. Warranty work was denied due to an unbelievable explanation from the hot headed service manager. I should've read all these negative reviews/complaints on here or even Google and the BBC before stopping in Courage kias service department More
