Mr. Mills, On Nov.24,2014, we diagnosed a clunking noise on your 2011 Cadillac SRX and found the following. 1) Upper strut mount bearings were loose and clunking. 2) Rear upper control arm bushings were loose. 3) Steering gear had excessive play, making a crunching and clunking noise on turns. At this time we had 3 probable items, all contributing to clunking noises, and all 3 of these items were making noise to some degree. We explained and disclosed everything to you so you could decide what repairs you wanted us to proceed with. Parts were ordered and the repairs were completed on schedule. Months went by without hearing anything from you that there were any concerns with the repairs that were performed. We would have expected that you would have either called or brought your Cadillac back immediately if the noises that you were hearing were still there, even more so after just paying $2404.74. The first time we heard anything was after you had sold the vehicle, and the new owner had taken the car to an independent shop, Glacier Automotive, for a pre-sale inspection. This shop recommended additional repairs and the buyer used this inspection to negotiate a lower price. You sold the vehicle and the new owner has already had the work performed. And now you tell us that the work we did back in November was not needed. Mr. Mills, we warranty our work, but you have to inform us of any concerns in a timely manner. Even after you contacted the Cadillac Customer Assistance Center, they concurred that they may have been able to help you, but the vehicle has since been sold, and the repairs in question have already been performed.
