I've never had such a bad experience at a car dealership. The service departments in particular are not only sub-par but are also concerning. I bought a 2016 Subaru Outback last August 2023. I understand th The service departments in particular are not only sub-par but are also concerning. I bought a 2016 Subaru Outback last August 2023. I understand that it's been nearly a year, but I discovered a mistake done by one of their service shops before I bought the vehicle and now they are refusing to fix it. They put new tires on the vehicle incorrectly. They put on asymmetrical tires, meaning they need to go on a certain way. It says on the side wall of each tire which way needs to be facing outwards. Well, ALL four tires were put on the wrong way. ALL FOUR of the tires say 'this side facing inwards' on the outer facing side wall. I did not discover this until running into an issue with a tire. I've done my research and have found that there are indeed issues that arise from making this error including traction control, especially in the rain which can lead to hydroplaning. This is a safety concern and I've been driving like this, with my two children, for some time now. Tires put on incorrectly in this way wear more quickly and uneven. The salesman and GM's deferred to the service department to deal with this. One told me the tires can be put on any way, which is not correct. I have no trust that these individuals know what they're doing. Before I purchased the vehicle, I was told upon inspection, it was also stated the brakes were in good shape, but I immediately noticed squealing. Low and behold, the brakes were shot. Again, it's hard to believe this dealership is being honest. Back to the tires.. This could've been caught when they replaced the brakes and later on when replacing a caliper. It's also interesting to me that all four were put on wrong. If they weren't paying attention, you'd think that at least one would've been put on the rim correctly if you think about the law of probability. I don't think it's too wild to think that whoever did it, realized they did it wrong, but didn't want to take the time to fix their mistake. I also spoke to two former service employees of McGrath and they both stated that in they think McGrath absolutely needs to rectify this error. In addition, everyone I've spoken to regarding my issues has a story to tell about McGrath and they have not been good stories. Never again will I purchase a vehicle, used or new, from a McGrath dealership. And I highly advise others to go elsewhere. I traded in a very nice, fully loaded 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My jeep was worth more than the Subaru but I still did a "straight" trade. They saw a little scratch on a rim and had me pay $250 I believe. After all this, that $250 shouldn't have been required. My jeep had brand new tires put on CORRECTLY. And I was given a vehicle with tires installed incorrectly. I have called multiple times, emailed, and came into the Coralville location and spoke with a GM in person. I was told I'd get a call back today but did not and had to call myself. I basically was told this isn't a problem and it was my responsibility to notice this mistake earlier. I gave them ample opportunity to make this right. Come on McGrath, up your standards, this should be embarrassing!! More
This was the easiest car deal I've ever had! Mario was awesome! I was at work and not able to talk so he texted me with all the information and answers to my questions. Kaden really did a nice job for us when we purchased our new Toyota Camry. He was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable about all the vehicle's features. The Finance Department could have done a better job though. Even though we made an appointment several days in advance to pick up the car, they did not have the paper work ready and it took almost two full hours to complete the purchase! None of this was Kaden's fault though. More

I was greeted right away.
