I had been looking on the Internet for a few weeks for a used truck. Conklin Cars of Newton prices were very competitive. I would in my search compare trucks from different dealerships. Conklin Cars of Newton's description of the truck on the Internet was very accurate and truthful with very good pictures. I spoke to my wife about the truck and said what I thought the trade difference would by on my trade in. I said if they offered close to that I would buy the truck. They offered the exact dollar amount I had told the wife. Marshall Kindrick was very professional and a very likable person. Marshall was friendly without being overly friendly. Marshall came across to me as a person I would like and call a friend. Marshall and the entire staff at Conklin Cars of Newton were very good to do business with and I am sure I will do business with them again. More
My wife and I were looking for a new jeep or truck and shopped at a Wichita dealer. We did find a jeep we liked and was at the financing step. That is where everything fell apart. We ended up leaving becuase for some reason the deal fell apart and we decided to come home and look. Actually stopped at the local Jeep dealer and talked to a salesperson about the situation we just went through. Verbally he prmised to treat us better but than wanted to meet another day (My wife had to run home real quick for 30 minutes) and proceeded to tell me he was on the way to a meeting. I left and went to Conklin Cars and started looking around the lot. The selection was a little light at the moment but I wanted to see if something else would work (my wife wanted 4 wheel drive and space for seating and to put some photo gear. That was her main requirements. In the most pleasant manner came Josh. I explained my issue and what we were looking for and he showed me a possibility and proceeded to also show his product knowledge, which was great. If theer was a question he could not answer on the spot and left and returned with the correct answer. We found him to be a great person who listened well and was attentive to our needs. His recommendations were great and he was not out to push for the sale. WE purchased the following day (It was very late). We were already familiar with this dealership for service on our other cars and found that department to be great. If it were not for the search for the new jeep, we would have came here first. The end result is we made the right decision with the right salesperson. He is an asset to that organization. I would recommend him and the dealership as a whole to anyone looking to purchase new or used. More
Great, and I mean great, customer service! Helped me find exactly what I was looking for very quickly! Listened to me and remembered what I said I liked and didn't like! I can't say enough good things about this dealership. I was trying to help a dear friend of mine find the perfect car. She was wanting a 2010, but was open on the model. She was willing to test drive whatever I thought would be good for her, but was taking me along to be "The Negotiator"... she was not interested in any kind of harsh sales tactics. We spent 3 separate days out test driving cars... and in a sense... test driving dealerships as well. Trust me when I say they're very different. We saw everything from the full on commando type of tactics where they practically followed us to our car, threatening that we'd never be offered the same deal again if we didn't sign on the dotted line that day.... to one dealership where the salesman actually blocked our path to the door and apparently wasn't going to move till we proved we would be worth his while. Needless to say we turned around and went back to our own vehicle and left! I was so fed up that I decided to just email the next dealership in advance to tell them what we wanted in a car, and what we didn't want in regards to pressure. My first pleasant surprise was to find not one but two emails waiting for me the very next morning. One letting me know that my email request had been received, and that a salesperson would be contacting me that day, and the second one from Josh Spooner... letting me know he was ready to help me in any way possible. He had located the two models we wanted to test drive, he knew the price range I wanted us to be in. We weren't quite there yet, but we were close enough that we agreed to come out and drive both that evening. The conversation on the phone went well... so that seemed promising! I can not tell you how nice an experience this was. Josh had both cars waiting right at the door. Side by side, ready to be able to compare their different sizes, shapes, the trunk size, how easy to lay the seats flat, etc, etc. One was a Chevy and one was a Ford. Being able to look at them side by side was a huge help. We'd brought along a 3rd friend from work, so poor Josh was stuck with 3 women on those test drives, all 3 hammering him with questions, and comments. He never missed a beat. He knew the answers, he explained different features, he laughed as we picked on each other as well as him, and he did it all with a big smile. By the end of the test drive, it was a forgone conclusion that we were going to buy from Conklin. There is not another dealership that even came close to the way they treated my friend thru her entire buying experience. When it came time for me to "get tough" about the price... it wasn't even necessary. I feel sure that they'd have given my friend the same great deal if she'd come out all alone. That's just the kind of people they are. We got a chance to meet Bud Conklin who spent over an hour talking with us and helping work out the final price. He was very good natured thru all my best "haggling skills"! Tony, their finance manager, was wonderful! There was no pressure to try to make her go with one finance company over another. Josh even picked her up at her house the next day to bring her out to pick up her car. It was sitting there all sparkling clean, ready to go to it's new home. She ended up with the Ford and drove it to work for the first time this morning. We all piled out in the parking lot to admire it. It's beautiful, but what's even lovelier is the smile on her face as she talked to our employees about what a great time she had and how wonderfully she was treated. Two of us now have Josh's # in our cell to give to friends when they mention they need a car. Conklin in Newton is amazing. I'd feel very comfortable recommending them to anyone. Thanks! More
Pegging the sales price to top-end KBB retail is not negotiation. The car was and is OK. The experience was quite a bit less so. Follow up later in the day. Jerrod Guthrie called to explain some of the difficulties I had and offered to make some things right. I accept his apology. He has been unfailingly polite and responsive throughout. Now, a note to the dealership. I assume you participate in this for constructive criticism -- so that you can identify areas that may need improvement in the perception of your customers and suggestions of how to effect those improvements. I offer the following in that light: I suspect that the problems I had were systemic rather than individual. That there is no reliable system to help cover salesmen on keeping appointments bespeaks a management failing and problems in setting priorites at the corporate rather than the individual level. Possible solution is use the electronic calendar/appointment system available on exchange or related office communication systems. Have some administrative assistant make sure that all appointments are scheduled and if there is a conflict notice is given to the people involved promptly. Never miss an appointment by more than 10 minutes without some kind of contact. Second, the "let me talk to my boss" remark is a red-flag with me and has been for 40 years. What I hear in that is "this is our company policy to stall you and make you give up on your request." Okay. Solution could be establish a black book for the lot so that salesmen know what the bottom line sale price of a vehicle is and let them negotiate diddly stuff like spare keys and filling the gas tank however works for company good will--without having to leave the sales table and talk to an anonymous, possibly mythical, third party. Another solution is to let the customer talk to the boss directly. Either would work. Finally, I seldom recommend a dealer. Everyone differs in what they expect, and my recommendation may or may not be effective. So,I tell people what I think, and let them make up their own mind. More

Ths is the best experience we have had with Conklin Cars. This is the 5th car/truck we have purchased from them. Marshall came on his day off to hand over our used Uplander. We had asked for a second key and it was ready the day we picked up our van. We had some questions about some of the features and he was very patient and either answered them or found the answer for us. We had a question about how the rear seats would be removed. Marshall and my husband worked on it awhile. Then Marshall found a co-worker who was able to help. During the sale and paperwork process, Tony was very easy to work with and and did everything in a timely manner. Everyone we met and worked with were friendly and easy to work with. We will refer our friends and family to Conklin Cars and especially to Marshall who we enjoyed working with. More

Both Jerrod and Bud were very knowledgable and friendly. They promptly inspected my trade-in and made we an offer on purchasing the vehicle. The offer as reasonable considering my trade-in as a buyer you always wish the offer was lower but after a little haggling a price was agreed on. Made arrangement to pick up the car the next morning. The car was ready the next morning as promised. While Tony and I were filling out all the final paperwork Jerrod had the new vehicle ready to go with the tag tranfered from my old vehicle. Jerrod was very helpful with explaining the vehicle functions and setting up the On-Star system. I would recommend Conklin Cars Newton to anyone looking for a friendly, knowledgeable, hassle-free shopping experience. PS I requested email information from a couple other area dealers but after 3 days I have not heard back from them. Conklin Cars prompt response to my email request was instrumental in my purchasing the vehicle from them. More

I purchased a 2009 Chevy Impala and am very satisfied with it. I thought that John was very friendly and I felt very much as ease with him. I appreciate that as it makes me feel like they still care even after they made the sale. I had intended to go on to Wichita that day to look but after considering the fact that this dealer was right here in Newton I went ahead and made my purchase.
