I visited Coggin Honda to have the 60K mile preventative maintenance performed on my Accord and because the "check engine light" came on. The prices were very high compared to other shops, but I agreed to maintenance performed on my Accord and because the "check engine light" came on. The prices were very high compared to other shops, but I agreed to pay since I thought the dealer would be the most reputable place to have my vehicle serviced. They recommended having the Oxygen sensor replaced, which I did - quite expensive. The CEL came back on within a week. I came back to the dealer to have it fixed, they wanted another several hundred dollars "as a start". (My one positive comment would be that the customer service personnel were generally friendly while the were swindling me.) They said that one of my spark plugs were crossthreaded and that I needed a throttle body cleaning. I was not willing to give them anymore money. I took it to another shop where they showed me within 10 minutes that none of the spark plugs were crossthreaded and recommended replacing the plugs to have the light go off. I bought new plugs online and had my friend help me install them - it took less than 20 minutes and cost $36. The CEL has not come back on since. Coggin Honda is out to swindle you. I wrote a number of complaint letters and all I have to show for my experience is junk mail that comes from Coggin Honda asking me to come in and have preventative maintenance done on my vehicle . . . yea right. Coggin Honda located on Atlantic blvd in Jacksonville undoubtedly has one of the worst after sales services among all dealerships in N.Florida. They either have the wrong working hours posted or close do undoubtedly has one of the worst after sales services among all dealerships in N.Florida. They either have the wrong working hours posted or close down their service center before they are supposed to. The employees are RUDE, UNFRIENDLY, UNPROFESSIONAL and seem to LOATHE attending to customers. To add to that they are mostly short of technicians or so they will tell you in my understanding to get off the job sooner. This is the treatment i have received after buying a new car with a service contract with them. I recommend that even if you have purchased a new vehicle from this dealership which automatically makes you eligible for express service, please still set up an appointment because the term "express service" is badly misunderstood by the dealer. DONOT SIGN THAT SERVICE CONTRACT. Even though the dealer will tell you that it can be terminated at any point of time, he will MISINFORM you about the fact that it can be terminated if you refinance which people rarely do as it damages their credit and is a lengthy process. I infact had a better experience at another Honda dealership. I will not mention the name as I don't want to sound as if I am a competitor of Coggin Honda. The other dealership was courteous and provided the service that a customer would expect after purchasing a vehicle that he will end up paying for around $36,000. Even though the service contract wasn't signed with the other dealer, they completely honored the contract and dealt with me as if I mattered more than anything else. In conclusion, I suggest that any one in Jacksonville who is looking to buy, get their Honda serviced or repaired, please for your own convenience AVOID STEPPING INTO COGGIN HONDA. More
I recently purchased a used Honda S2000, and wanted to bring it in for an oil change and some other minor things. Coggin Honda is only about 3 miles from my house so it seemed like a no-brainer to go there. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of their staff. Everyone from my service advisor right down to the shuttle driver was courteous and friendly. I have had three Acuras previously and as such have ddealt with at least three different Acura dealerships. This Honda dealership blew all of them out of the water which I find funny because although Acura is essentially "Honda" it is supposed to be the luxury division. With the higher costs of Acuras you would think the treatment of the customers would be higher than those with Civics and Accords, but that is clearly not the case with Coggin Honda. More
