Terrible Experience We recently sold our car, and were looking for a used Subaru Impreza. My husband found one with mileage he liked and a reasonable price at Clay Subaru We recently sold our car, and were looking for a used Subaru Impreza. My husband found one with mileage he liked and a reasonable price at Clay Subaru. We live in NH, about an hour and 40 minutes away from Norwood MA, so we called and spoke to Daynna about the vehicle. Out of the blue, with no communication from Daynna, we started receiving emails, phone calls, and text messages from Will Smith about the car. He wanted us to fill out the credit application, send pictures of our licenses, and put down a deposit on the car right away. We liked the car, and wanted to hold it, so we had no problem doing this even though we had not seen the car yet. We communicated with Will about our budget for the monthly payment. Will said, in an email, that they would work to make it happen. We gave Will information that he would lose, and we'd have to give it to him again and again. Our first impression, before meeting him, was that he was extremely disorganized, and we were not looking forward to dealing with him at the dealership. There was no communication between coworkers at all. We allegedly set up a time with Will to be at the dealership at 9am. On our way down, we received an email saying they were expecting us at 12:45pm. This was a problem since we do not live close, at all. When we arrived, nobody helped us right away. We thought Daynna would be helping us, but we immediately got passed on to Will from Patrick. According to Patrick, Will Smith is his one of best sales managers-yeah right! Dave L. showed us the car briefly and we took a short test drive. We wished we had more time with the car. Dave seemed like a decent human being. Will, on the other hand, continued to unimpress us. After the test drive, we had to wait to meet with Will. Dave came out to get a down payment from us, and we had not even negotiated the price at all. When we finally met with Will, he refused to go down on the price and refused to look at the material that we had brought showing that the price was inflated. He was pushy, rude, disorganized, and a bully. He would give us paperwork to sign, then take it away before we could read it. I am convinced that half of the our copies of the paperwork were put in his folder. He refused to give us a copy of the warranty plan information sheet that he basically forced us to purchase with the car. He quoted us a monthly payment that kept changing. Who even knows what our payment will be?! We felt very uncomfortable and dirty in dealing with him. It was rushed with him slamming keys on his keyboard and pretending to listen to us. We could not even take the car when we left since we live in NH and they have to send a runner, which is a separate fee of $150. He supposedly called some manager to ask if we could take the car without plates and said "I wish they had brought the plates." I said "I wish someone had told us to bring the plates." We will never buy from here again or take our car for service. We don't trust them, at all. STEER CLEAR OF CLAY SUBARU-NORWOOD. Horrible service. More
Horrible experience I bought my car a couple weeks ago and have been traumatized ever since, I don't even want to Drive it. My salesperson was wonderful he was very knowl I bought my car a couple weeks ago and have been traumatized ever since, I don't even want to Drive it. My salesperson was wonderful he was very knowledgeable knew everything about the vehicle and took me on an excellent test drive which made me fall in love with my new Forester. The problem came when I went into the office and met with Will Smith. He talked down to me and forced me to sign up for over $4,000 in insurances that I refused to buy but every time I said no he told me my interest rate would be higher even though I have perfect credit. I started to cry which only seem to embolden him. I literally had no more fight left in me so I just signed the stupid paperwork so I could get my car. When I was leaving he refused to give me copies of my paperwork saying that I would get them in the mail which I never got. It's been weeks and the knot in my stomach still hasn't gone away and now I have this car in my driveway that makes me sick to my stomach each time I see it. I am going to be taking this yo attorney general but I am terrified that this thug has my personal information and what he could possibly do with it. More
Worked with Jeff, Jerry, and Will. All very friendly and they were not pressuring in any way. They were all very knowledgeable, and everything they had to say about the vehicles was very helpful. They all they were not pressuring in any way. They were all very knowledgeable, and everything they had to say about the vehicles was very helpful. They all made the experience relatively painless and understood that a car is a big purchase. Would definitely recommend going here and working with these guys. More
Upon arrival at the dealership I met the salesperson Bruce who greeted me promptly & professionally. He seemed to only care about making me happy in my purchase and little about anything else. I am a si Bruce who greeted me promptly & professionally. He seemed to only care about making me happy in my purchase and little about anything else. I am a single woman so it made me very comfortable when he drove me in three different vehicles and only seemed interested in satisfying all of my check marks which was a nice surprise as the other salespeople I met that day (at other dealerships) were pushy & played all the stereotypical games. The problem arose later when we were at the negotiating table. Bruce went to to present my offer to "his boss" Patrick, who seemed to denigrate & speak down upon Bruce every step of the way. It wasn't long before the sexual connotations were used to describe the negotiation process with me and I quote Patrick as saying "what the F*** do you want me to do?? Drop my F****** drawers for this B****??". Only my two children were not as lucky as anyone reading this as they were within earshot along with the rest of the showroom and did not get the edited version of what he said. I didn't make a big deal of it at the time as I was in such shock after hearing this & I truly enjoyed my salesman. It has been a few months now & am thinking of getting a smaller vehicle as I have a longer commute. I know I won't be visiting Clay Subaru & this certainly wasn't a freak occurrence after reading all the reviews with his name mentioned specifically. Looking back on this, I guess buying a vehicle there is a real mixed bag. More
I have to start out by saying I would give Clay a 5 star review for overall experience and customer care that was taken when my mom (83) went to buy her 2nd Subaru from Clay. We delt with Patrick and Will. review for overall experience and customer care that was taken when my mom (83) went to buy her 2nd Subaru from Clay. We delt with Patrick and Will. Got a great price for the New and Trade-In. I was so Impressed with the first experience my mom had and went to Patrick myself and also purchased a WRX.... Again, my mom insisted to go back and buy a new Subaru just this week because of the customer care that she experienced buying her first Subaru with Patrick. Now the Sales Manager, Will stepped right up to the plate and also took exceptional care with my mom.... He answered every question with knowlege and complete explanation and took his time with her making sure she understood all the bells and whistles and how to use all features. The finance guy, Joey was great, knowlegeable and also took time with complete explanation the options that were offered. I have nothing but good things to say about Clay and not sure why people have had such a negative experience dealing with Clay. It was simple with no bull for us. More

They allowed personal space while I spoke with my husband on phone and after asking me which car I wanted they made it work and now I'm in my brand new car!! Couldnt more pleased. The GM is an amazing person, can tell by his dedication and commitment to customer service. Plan to be bacn when I'm due for an upgrade. :) More
We stopped by the dealership in August and test drove a few vehicles (liked them) but weren't ready to make a decision. Jerry was so knowledgeable and our first visit so pleasant that we went back 3 month few vehicles (liked them) but weren't ready to make a decision. Jerry was so knowledgeable and our first visit so pleasant that we went back 3 months later and the new Crosstrek was out front. We loved the look and drive. The whole experience was great. We will be back for our next vehicle. JJ More
Went to have mud guard repaired and paid in advance for "special order parts." Was led to believe this was entire charge for repair. When I returned later, was given another bill for labor. When I question "special order parts." Was led to believe this was entire charge for repair. When I returned later, was given another bill for labor. When I questioned the new charge,I was screamed at by service manager, verbally bullied. He is definitely not customer friendly in my view as I saw him do the same thing to another customer. More
I went into Clay to consider trading in my 2012 Subaru Impreza on Dec. 30th. I had previously had a Forester for 7.5 years and thought I'd switch to the sedan, made a mistake in May--2012 because I really Impreza on Dec. 30th. I had previously had a Forester for 7.5 years and thought I'd switch to the sedan, made a mistake in May--2012 because I really missed the features and size of the Forester. From the point I entered Clay Subaru, I received straightforward information on the options and pricing. Joe Mancuso was knowledgeable and did not get defensive through "friendly negotiating". He was focused on getting me what I wanted. He worked hard to find the exact car I was looking for and the all-important, right color and tracked one down the next day (new year's eve/day)from another dealership. He went the extra mile and I didn't have to endure some of the condescending, patronizing, slick talk that I had experienced at other dealerships in May when I was shopping for the last one!It is rare that you can enjoy buying a car because so many (3 other experiences)exposed to me that car sales people at other places are selling the way they sold in 1975. I am a sales trainer so I may be particularly sensitive to and intolerant of horrible sales tactics. I was impressed twice in this past year with Clay Subaru. Call Joe Mancuso if you want to avoid the stereotypical experience. He's really the best! Now, financing--worked twice with Joey Allain at Clay. He's smart, personable and works doggedly hard to get you the best financing. He got me an even better rate than I had in May! He was working well into New Year's Eve to get the paperwork done so I could get my new car on the road. When you think about buying a car--financing is part of it for most of us. Again, Joey is not like the the robots I have dealt with in previous experiences. Great guy--you'll want to work with him also. I highly recommend visiting Clay and ask for the combo of Joe and Joey.
