NEVER HAVE I EVER had such a miserable experience with a repair shop, dealership or individually owned, until my recent dealings with Clay Cooley Mesquite. I dropped off my 2024 Hyundai Kona (with less than repair shop, dealership or individually owned, until my recent dealings with Clay Cooley Mesquite. I dropped off my 2024 Hyundai Kona (with less than 15,000 miles) early Wednesday evening before leaving town for a four-day trip, assuming this would give them plenty of time to complete the routine oil change, diagnose my suspension issue, order parts if needed, and complete the repairs. I picked my car up the following Wednesday under the pretense that it was fixed, but the creaking noise was very much still present and they also failed to reset my oil life (meaning I’m still getting the nagging reminder ding and message stating I’m overdue for an oil change). I took the car back to Clay Cooley a couple days later, hoping the suspension noise was a simple fix, possibly something was over or under tightened. I was told additional parts needed to be ordered and that they would call me back once the parts came in. I got a call a couple days later stating the parts were in and that I could wait in the lobby while they completed the repair. I’d waited for about an hour when someone came out to inform me that actually only one of the two parts had come in (inventory error), they were unable to complete the repair but would call me in the next 24-48 hours once the remaining part was delivered. In all my 30 years of driving, a car has never felt as unsafe as mine did on the way home. I had a mechanic friend come take a look at it, who discovered they had removed my sway bar links and let me drive home without putting the old ones back on. To put this in layman’s terms, my small SUV could have very easily flipped on the highway on my 30 minute drive home, should I have needed to make any sudden or jerky maneuver. The sway bar is what grounds your car to prevent it from flipping easily and without the sway bar links, it was rendered useless. I called the next day and spoke with the service manager, Jonathan, extremely upset by their negligence. He explained there was an unfortunate communication breakdown between the mechanic and service advisor, that I should not have been allowed to drive my car home, and apologized. He had a staff member drive their foreman to my house to pick up the car, drive it back to the shop and install the new parts, and they also returned it to my house. I was happy with this accommodation and believed this would be finally the end of this hellacious experience… However, my car is still making the same highly audible creaking noises (think old, rickety pickup truck) in the front end and needless to say, the suspension issue remains unresolved. Worth noting, I was too hyper focused on the persistent creaking noises to notice the oil message on my infotainment screen, but one would think as many times as my car returned to Clay Cooley, someone there would have noticed the oversight. After their multiple suspension repair fails, I’m also seriously questioning whether the oil change was even completed or if they just slapped a new sticker on my windshield and neglected this point of service as well. Clay Cooley has lost me (AND the endless number of friends and acquaintances I’ve shared this nightmare with) as a customer for life. Despicable and unacceptable service. More
