June 21, 2018 - drove all the way from Fontana to Hyundai Claremont because of its good reviews. Me and my wife knew the car that we wanted - made an appointment a week prior, arrived there at 9am on the day of the appointment, but still took us 6 hours to get the new car. Process was way to slow, but we tried to ignore that fact since we always want to see the good in every situation. Eloi and Reza helped us. Eloi's new and obviously lacks the experience and knowledge about Hyundai cars and its features. We brushed that off, because we liked his drive, his energy, his passion.. so we gave him a chance. We already know all the car's features anyway from reading reviews and watching videos online. Reza is the sales manager who talked to us to get the deal through. We met half way and got a good deal. Although some of the stuff he put in there, like Easycare, wasn't really discussed in full transparency. I had to find out about the coverage online and by calling Easycare. That tactic is, i think, present in most dealers - to sell you things you don't really need or at least agreed to. But what the heck, i said okay since it should give me peace of mind in the long run. BUT.... 2 days later, before getting on the car to go to my office, i noticed that paint on the rear side of the passenger side door was chipping or coming off. I was trying to recall if i did anything to make the paint come off like that. But there was no scratch nor dent whatsoever. I guess the paint quality on that car wasn't as good as advertised - especially for it to chip or come off like that. I called the dealer and they arranged to fix it on the 30th with a rental car service. That should be okay for me not minding the fact that i was still kind of disappointed because of what happened. I just thought to myself that nothing good will happen from being mad or angry at someone or something. 2 days later after my initial call.. i noticed more paint was coming off the edge of the rear side door.. and to me, that was it. That's the last draw. I was trying to call Reza for days now and left him a message, but I never got any call back. And he's always "not in" the dealership. So i went to Eloi, the salesman.. texted and called him about the problem. He was kind enough to reply. I asked about the paint coming off. He said that the paint coming off was due to the people in the body shop department rushing the job, but he'll take care of it. And he pointed out that how could i think that the car wasn't new since the mileage was only 11 miles. I mean, seriously? That is obvious. I told him that i get that the car is new. I get that it only has 11 miles in it. But the quality this dealership is giving its customers is way below the industry standard. I mean, no customer should ever experience something like this on a brand new car. 2 days and paint comes off? You got to be kidding me. AND... doing a half xxx job because worker is on a rush is a lousy excuse for doing it wrong. These guys are professionals. They should do quality check every time before they release cars to customers. That being said, I really like the car. I like the mpg and the savings i'd get from it. But man, these guys in Hyundai seem to not care after they make a sale. Less than a week from the purchase, I get chipped paint??? That's really lousy quality and service. Hyundai Claremont, please have Reza return my call. I believe that customers deserve an explanation and not an excuse. I salute Eloi for taking my calls and text messages... But what is management doing? Man up, guys. More
False ads/ misleading sales team + rude mangers Claremont Hyundai dupes hard working people pd their hard earned money with false advertising & misguided deals that are non-existent. The mangers are Claremont Hyundai dupes hard working people pd their hard earned money with false advertising & misguided deals that are non-existent. The mangers are rude & disrespectful to clients and the sales people while nice, will still mislead you and finance people with prepare paperwork with incorrect information (different seeling price than was agreed) and rush you into signing. Then when you realize it’s false, they will refuse to change it and say the contract is binding. The martinautomotive.com email address that they send (asking you to reach them at) in response to all reviews online is false too, it doesn’t work. Everybody don’t even bother to take your service here, and if this dealership has done you wrong, write reviews as well to help others avoid this place. Best to not promote a business that has zero interest in customer welfare. More
Finally got the help I needed Update: After months of trying to get my refund, I finally got the help I needed. After posting reviews on every social platform I could find, I got Update: After months of trying to get my refund, I finally got the help I needed. After posting reviews on every social platform I could find, I got the attention of the dealership. Come to find out there were some major transitions and my stuff got stuck in a backlog. After they got a better understanding of what happened, the staff were very helpful and worked hard to resolve my issues and even followed up until everything was settled. I am still cautious but have more hope in the success of the dealership because of the changes that have been made. Thanks for finally getting my issue resolved. Original Review: We came to Claremont Hyundai for a great deal. Though we got one, it cost us in time. Our vehicle purchase took 7 hours. Not because we were negotiating, but rather because they were very slow in processing other customers. Lots of sitting around. It is what it is, but unfortunately that isn’t the end. When it came to getting help with other issues, it took me coming down to the dealership to have a manager get involved. Those problems were eventually resolved, but took way too much work. I wish that was it. When we purchased our car we bought the GAP coverage. We got separate coverage after, so we decided to cancel in May 2018. It was supposed to be refunded in 30 days. I have called and talked to two finance managers as well as one sales manager and we still haven’t gotten a refund as of September 2018. One gave me updated info about it taking 8 weeks. Problem is that it was already 12 weeks after at that point, so that wasn’t true. I have left emails, countless voicemails, most of which are never returned. When I do actually catch a finance manager they claim they are looking into it, but I know by now they aren’t going to help me. They just pass it off to someone else to be forgotten. It wouldn’t be that bad if they gave me answers, like the check got lost, but I am getting nothing. This dealership has the worst customer service I have ever seen. No one follows through. The only helpful people are the phone operators. Anyone who ignores customers doesn’t deserve to be in a customer service business. Because of what I have experienced I will never purchase another car from you, or have my car serviced by your service department. You have left such a sour taste in my mouth. I am not bashing your dealership, just telling my experience. I wanted things to get better, but they have not. I hope that my going public with my experience will light a fire that I am displeased and I want my money that you owe to me. If nothing else, it serves as a caution to potential customers that you too may be in the same situation as me if you purchase at Claremont Hyundai. More
Be Prepared and Follow Up 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Value + Premium packages The Reason for the Drive: I live in South Orange County, which is about 1.5 hours away from 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Value + Premium packages The Reason for the Drive: I live in South Orange County, which is about 1.5 hours away from Claremont. I went clear across two counties to Claremont, as they provided me the lowest quote at $24,240. When I showed up and asked about the quote, they did not honor the price that they emailed me. I went in with that quote and the first thing they said was, “you were misquoted the offer, as the original offer included an additional discount that you don’t qualify for. Here’s what we can offer you”, typical bait-&-switch move. We then went through the negotiation process from scratch and landed on another offer I had. Extended Warranty: While I was in talking to the Finance person, they finally discussed warranty. The Finance person purposely did not present or discuss the Hyundai Protection Plan or any other extended warranty options. I spoke with another Dealer sales person and they said that all dealerships have to offer the manufacturer’s extended warranty, as that is the most inclusive warranty, and that is what the manufacturer wants the Dealer to offer. The Finance person labored on about the third-party warranty in detail and it kept dragging on. The only one they discussed with me was the third-party warranty for 10 years 100,000 miles with a per-incident deductible of $100, which is what they said to me in person, but reading the terms it is $250 for the first claim and $100 for the next claim on the same issue. This warranty cost $2,995. I found the equivalent manufacturer warranty for 10 years 100,000 miles zero deductible for $1,385 from a local Dealer. Needless to say, I switched, and Claremont Hyundai lost the business. The Down Payment: Once we were done discussing numbers and financing it came to the down payment. I decided to pay part of the down payment with my debit and credit cards to get the points. The Dealership told me that that would incur a service fee for the debit portion. The clearinghouse option also incurred a fee. The thing is, their service department likely accepts debit or credit cards all day long, and it’s pretty doubtful that they charge an extra fee. Next, they offered to split the transaction charge with me, which made no sense. Originally, they were offering to charge me an additional $225. I said no. They came back with adjusting the amount on the debit card which made the split $167 each. Lack of Courtesy or Customer Service: The following day I decided to call back the finance department and cancel the third-party warranty that I had purchased through them (prior to learning about & purchasing the less expensive and better factory warranty.) I called the Finance person that I had worked with and left two voicemails for them asking to be called back the same day. I heard nothing. I called back the next day and left voicemails for two different finance people to call me back, and neither one of them called me back. I moved forward and purchased the Hyundai extended warranty from another Dealership and canceled the third-party warranty from Claremont Hyundai. I even sent a fax to Claremont Hyundai to cancel my warranty and NO ONE RESPONDED. If they were trying to have a return customer or a positive customer interaction that did not happen. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone as they were not forthright about anything. They didn’t even have the courtesy to call me back and try to save the business. The Bottom Line: A dealership that succeeds in strongly reinforcing every bad stereotype there is about car salespeople. I would recommend avoiding them at all cost. It's been a full month now and I still don't have any clarity on my reimbursement. More
