I wonder how many trusting customers are paying double the reasonable dealership service prices for repairs at City Toyota of Daly City? This is my experience navigating the hybrid battery replacement the reasonable dealership service prices for repairs at City Toyota of Daly City? This is my experience navigating the hybrid battery replacement process with City Toyota of Daly City, the Toyota dealer from which I originally purchased the vehicle when it was new. In summary, City Toyota of Daly City tried to extort me by overcharging for parts and labor, lying to me when I questioned the charges, and then failing to allow me to speak with the service manager about their attempts to overcharge. In the end, I had to argue my way from the original quote of nearly $5700 (including $235 diagnostic fee) to the final total I paid of $2817.18. A loyal customer should not need to argue their way out of paying double the reasonable amount for a repair. In the end, I paid a reasonable (not inexpensive) amount for the repair. In the process the City Toyota dealership destroyed my trust in them. More
This dealership is the absolute worst. Their service center misdiagnosed two of my vehicles and would not provide a refund even when they admitted they were wrong. In April of this year, we bought a used Toyota Sienna from City Toyota in Daly City. During the purchase, both the salesperson and the dealership's website displayed the car as having a clear title with from City Toyota in Daly City. During the purchase, both the salesperson and the dealership's website displayed the car as having a clear title with a mileage of over 60,000 miles. After a test drive, we paid for the vehicle in full. Little did we know that this marked the beginning of a nightmare. Following the purchase, we faced a prolonged delay in receiving the official transfer documents. When we communicated with the dealership, they claimed they needed more time to process the paperwork. Eventually, we received a temporary operating permit from the DMV, allowing us to use the vehicle temporarily. However, this permit was set to expire in August 2023. Upon inquiring further, the dealership revealed that the delay was due to an error in the recorded mileage. Instead of accurately reflecting 60,000 miles, it erroneously displayed 600,000 miles, preventing the completion of the paperwork. Upon understanding the reason, we made earnest attempts to communicate with City Toyota and their sales team. We hoped they would promptly correct the documents and resolve the issue. Regrettably, they repeatedly evaded responsibility and shifted blame to the DMV, instructing us to deal with the issue directly. Left with no other option, we visited the DMV ourselves. DMV staff explained that since individuals are not authorized to do this, dealers need to submit an application to correct the situation. Additionally, they required the dealer to provide specific documentation to resolve the issue. After receiving this information, we contacted the dealership again. However, they persisted in refusing to resolve the issue, offering various excuses and failing to take any specific steps. We returned to the DMV to seek a solution, as our temporary driver's license was soon to expire, which could have prevented us from using the vehicle legally. Despite numerous attempts to communicate with City Toyota, we have not been able to get a resolution. As there has been no progress on this matter, we do not know what to do or who to approach to resolve this issue? As the Temporary Operating Permit is about to expire, we are desperately pleading with Daly City Toyota to give a reasonable explanation and resolve this issue as soon as possible. We are perplexed as to why they are not taking responsibility for their mistake and leaving the vehicle we paid in full for about to become unusable ????Putting the vehicle we paid full price for at risk? Is this their level of service? Is this their standard of sales behavior? More
Disappointing Service and Lack of Battery Repair Solutions at City Toyota I recently had an unfortunate experience with City Toyota in Daly City when I took my out-of-warranty Toyota RAV4 EV for Solutions at City Toyota I recently had an unfortunate experience with City Toyota in Daly City when I took my out-of-warranty Toyota RAV4 EV for diagnostics. My RAV4 EV is a fully electric vehicle developed by Toyota in collaboration with Tesla, featuring a Tesla motor and traction battery. About a month ago, I received a warning message prompting me to take my vehicle to a Toyota dealership. I chose City Toyota due to its proximity. Upon arrival, I left my car in their care. However, some strange things began to happen. Firstly, the diagnostic cost increased from $220 to $675. More concerning, my previously drivable car became undrivable. Two weeks later, I was informed that the battery was dead and required replacement at a staggering cost of $18,000. There were no alternative solutions offered, and I was left wondering if things were really that dire. I decided to do some research and found a garage that identified the issue, which could be fixed with a $175 part and labor costs. After paying $675 to Toyota for diagnostics, I couldn't help but wonder why they would take my car in if they couldn't offer a real repair solution. Were they only providing diagnostics without repair services? Though I don't blame the staff, I do believe that Toyota should have done more to provide clients with feasible solutions for battery repair. I would have expected them to collaborate with Tesla or direct customers to third-party repair shops specializing in electric vehicles. Seeing brand new electric vehicles in City Toyota's showroom makes me question their commitment to customers. Can I trust Toyota to repair my car when it's out of warranty? Are they selling ticking time bombs with batteries that become unusable after the warranty expires? Battery repair should be part of their service offering, just like transmission or motor repair. This experience has left me disappointed and questioning Toyota's dedication to its electric vehicle customers. More

I went inside to the service advisor Winston Lam and said it won’t be fixed till Monday 4-17 and and he said it’s due to potholes and whatever. I told him my 2023 Toyota Camry w just 4500 miles on it just got its first service last Friday 4/7/23 as we are due for a long trip today. No one checked the tires it has a big bubble on the rear right tire it sat in the driveway after we drove out from their service dept till we washed it this morning and noticed the big bubble. The service advisor says we have to pay at least $350 and won’t be serviced till monday. We have a planned trip today to Lake Tahoe and cancelled our trip and reservations as it’s my wife’s bday celebration and practically ruined our weekend. We bought 2 Toyota vehicles from Dominic in Sales in this dealership the last 10 months and he provided us elite and awesome skills to get us back to him but they cannot have a service department w ineffective and unprofessional service people. I instead went by to Wheelworks bought a tire replacement for just $199.95 different Bridgestone tire as they said they no longer carry the Toyota Camry’s particular Bridgestone Utopia tire meaning it’s discontinued or are defective. Why is Toyota providing tires that are of inferior quality? And this dealership won’t have the time to replace or recall these tires. Very very disappointed on this. Thinking about moving to another dealership in the South Bay for better services and warranty. More
I have been waiting today 3/23/23 for 4 hours to get an oil change. This is not ok. I’m curious why it takes 4 hours for an oil change. City Toyota is either doing this intentionally bc of my past exper oil change. This is not ok. I’m curious why it takes 4 hours for an oil change. City Toyota is either doing this intentionally bc of my past experiences with them or they need to make changes to their policies. This none-sense should never happen. The fact that City Toyota doesn’t care making me wait 4 hrs should concern all customers. What a terrible experience. More

This dealership’s rating is far below ZERO. I inquired about buying a 2021 RAV4 through True Car. I was immediately emailed by WIL CHO, who told me they had the exact vehicle I was looking for allocated t about buying a 2021 RAV4 through True Car. I was immediately emailed by WIL CHO, who told me they had the exact vehicle I was looking for allocated to the dealership and it would be delivered in several weeks. WIL said he would reserve it for me with no deposit required and because we were going through True Car there would not be any mark up on the price. In a time where vehicles, especially Toyota’s, are short in supply and in high demand this sounded great. Fast forward a little bit. I contacted WIL and asked him about pricing and told him that this was my daughters first “adult purchase” and he had the opportunity to be a hero, because we had gotten the run around at other dealerships. I won’t go into those details. Obviously WIL didn’t care about making the customer happy, because from that point on he turned into a different person. He talked down to me, condescending, HE MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS STUPID, he was borderline RUDE in the tone he spoke to me! He had no idea I had done my homework. A week or two later sent me an email and said the vehicle we had been waiting a month for was not going to be delivered anymore that I should go find the vehicle somewhere else. What he didn’t know was that I was at the dealership and saw the exact vehicle my daughter had been waiting for. I called and talked to another Toyota representative and told them we would be in to buy the vehicle that had been delivered. They had the exact vehicle my daughter was looking for and they refused to sell it to me at MSRP. They used me to get the vehicle allocated to their dealership and then turned around and told me it was no longer going to be delivered. Once they got it on the lot they told me I could not buy it for MSRP, like originally agreed upon because they would be able to sell it for $4000 more later that day. My daughter was crushed, after having a deposit on a vehicle in Southern California (LONGO TOYOTA) she had gotten her deposit back because Daly City was closer to our home. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone unless you want to be talked down to, treated like dirt and over pay. They have the worst customer service and I would never consider them again, even if they were the only dealership that had the vehicle I was looking for. We contacted LONGO TOYOTA and we are a week away from purchasing a vehicle from them with no mark up. They’ve been great and never mark ip any of their vehicles. Please don’t give them your money.
