Do Not Purchase a Pre-Owned Car From Smithtown Chevrolet Let me preface this review by informing you that I've never left a review for any business. However, I just can't let a business treat customers in an unethical manner without warning others.... Purchase a pre-owned 2015 Tahoe for my daughter from this dealership. Upon bringing the car home, we started to noticed oil spots in our driveway and a rough ride. Made an appointment with dealer to address, but I was curious as to the location of the oil leak. I discovered that there was oil on the bottom of the shocks and splash pan under the car. The dealer indicated that the transmission and engine oil lines needed to be replaced, which they did. They indicated that the rough ride is because the vehicle has 22 inch wheels and that if I wanted a smoother ride, I can have the wheels changed. After taking the car on an extended 1000 mile road trip, we determined that the car was unsafe to drive. We brought it to our regular mechanic to investigate and he said the oil you were seeing was coming from the shocks. The shocks failed and locked in the extended position. He recommended bringing it back to the dealer complaining, which we did. Dealer confirms that the front struts need to be replaced, but it will cost $1969.39. I went ahead with the repair and was promised that the used car manager, Tom would call me to work something out. However, despite repeated calls to him, he refuses to call back. Bottom line is please do yourself a favor. If you are going to spend your hard earned money at a dealership, there are a lot of options out there. Don't buy a used vehicle from this dealer. Worst Dealership EVER These guys give the typical "sleazy dealerships" a bad name. I don't know enough negative superlatives to describe this place. Their sales managers are obnoxious, high-pressure types. Especially the "big" one. What an idiot. He reminds me of that stereotypical large stupid brute who bullied all the kids in school. Well... he found himself a job. He's still a brute. Still belligerent, but instead of your lunch money, he wants all your money now. He tried to "make me" lease a car for $10K more than I wound up getting it for at Chevrolet 112, which I HIGHLY recommend. I mistakenly put down a REFUNDABLE deposit on a truck with them and it was incredibly difficult to get back. Luckily, I put it on American Express and they helped recover my money. They promised it would be a REFUNDABLE deposit. It was just to hold the car. I wanted to see Ford before I bought a Chevy. I wound up buying a Chevy, but I will NEVER buy from Smithtown Chevrolet. I've told everyone I know to stay away and now I'm telling you. For your own good... save yourself the heartache... AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! More
