What a refreshing car buying experience. I was in need of a new car, but based on my previous experiences, I dreaded the thought of actually having to go through the whole car dealership pro I was in need of a new car, but based on my previous experiences, I dreaded the thought of actually having to go through the whole car dealership process. Sales people who try to hold you hostage, use "hard sell" tactics and play number games in hopes of squeezing as much profit out of a sale. Finally after facing that onslaught, comes the dreaded finance person, here is where we usually get the real confusing hard sell. Numerous options, some of which are totally useless or over-priced. I found the experience at Chevrolet of Smithtown totally different. They had a car I was interested in that I was finding hard to find elsewhere. I decided I would drop by on a Thursday night after work to just get a feel for the dealership and their pricing. I figured I could not get too beat up in the few hours left before the dealership was scheduled to close. Went in cold without an appointment and met their salesperson James Lyons as I entered, within half hour or so I had bought a car. James was extremely helpful, listened to my needs and worked with me to get a great deal done. He was friendly, down to earth with a no pressure attitude. I would highly recommend James to anyone looking to purchase a Chevrolet. But of course there was the day I was to pick up the car and meet the dreaded finance manager. This is where I was going to be bombarded with all sorts of complicated and costly "extras" that were "ONLY going to add a few more dollars a month" to my loan. But once again I was in for a surprise. John Bracken, their Finance Director, was a breath of fresh air. No hard sell of anything. He limited his discussion to only a couple of possible additional options that he felt would be best for my particular circumstances. He was more than willing to discuss the "real" costs of these options and not just the usual "for only a few more dollars a month" tactic. Best of all, he was able to take no for an answer. The entire 2-day process was completed with less than two or three hours actually spent inside the dealership, leaving me with only great things to say about this dealership and the entire experience. Oh, not to mention the great price I got on a "candy apple" red Equinox RS. Thank You James & John. More

Went to buy a new traverse. Long story short, price was high and they low balled me in my trade. He goes “ well it’s a 50k car and gm is on strike” then proceeds to say “ I gave you employee pricing” ( they did nothing but take off 1k cash as per the website LOL) Than I said my trade was too low and that I got a better offer and king orouke, and explained how these payments he offered and 100 more a month, he said “ well it’s a numbers game”!!!! Then I said I agree and I hate buying cars these days and he said “ I hate to sell them”. If you wanted to see the sleaziest of salesman, come see this guy. He is the definition of what people hate about salesman. He has been the most unprofessional manage I have ever seen. I would NEVER buy a car from them. They have a bunch of sharks just staring at you as soon as you walk in and are all jack&$$:!! Stay away! More

Have an issue with finance that has been ongoing for weeks. The issue is still not resolved and Smithtown is currently non-responsive to any forms of communication. John Braken the head of finance reached out to us on a Tuesday. We were told that he will need to go talk to his boss about refunding this fee and was promised a call Thursday. Thursday came around and no call. We called to follow up Friday and was connected to finance, however we were put on speakerphone and no one introduced themselves and just told us John will be in at 9am Saturday and just hung up on us. Very unprofessional. Today is Monday and the issue is still not resolved. More
Undisclosed fees were tact on between the contract that was initially drawn versus the finance papers that were processed. When asked about the discrepancy, vague responses were given and kept on reiterating that it was just a $995 dealer fee even though we pointed out that no where on the paperwork shows this $995 fee. Dealer fees are set at a state max of $175. All fees/charges were itemized EXCEPT for this elusive $995 fee (price of car, sales tax, NY state inspection, NYS tire recycling fee and dealer processing fee of $175 were all clearly labeled on the paperwork). More
