They did not pressure me and took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly. This is the first new car that I have purchased in 18 years and things have certainly changed! This was the smoothest new car sale that we have ever experienced. Mr. Gunter was very knowledgeable of the automobile that we selected, and was very pleasant throughout the sale activity. The deal was exactly as was said on the phone. Chris helped us through the paperwork process without rushing, and answered every question we asked. Everyone else was very helpful and polite and not pushy. The extras that were offered were presented in a professional manner and I did not feel pressured to buy them, which would have been a turn-off for me. I plan to have my service done at Checkered Flag and I hope they are as good as the internet sales department. More

Checkerd Flag Toyota in Virginia Beach is the worst dealership I have ever experienced. The customer service from William "Bill" Peterson left a lot to be desired, but the 'service' from Ed Belisle was hands down the worst ever, absolutely poor and unacceptable. I have walked away from this dealership feeling lied to and discriminated against. I advise anyone looking to purchase a car to look elsewhere; this dealership is not worth your time or your money. When I entered the dealership to discuss the purchase of a new Toyota Tundra, I was assisted immediately by a salesperson. He took the time to understand my use for the vehicle, and my specific preferences a new Toyota Tundra, I was assisted immediately by a salesperson. He took the time to understand my use for the vehicle, and my specific preferences, and immediately narrowed down several vehicles on the lot that met my needs. There was no attempt to "sell me" on some other model that did not fit my needs just because it was on the lot. I was given the opportunity to look at several vehicles. When I selected the vehicle I wanted to test drive, we took it on an extensive run covering a variety of driving conditions from high-speed interstate driving to stop & go traffic. I felt that the salesman did a good job selecting a route that would give me opportunities to test the vehicle under numerous common driving conditions. When the time came to negotiate the price of the new vehicle, as well as the value of my trade, there was some back & forth with the salesman. In the end, while I did not get a "steal," I felt that I got a very fair deal on the vehicle. I am very pleased with the value of the purchase. When the time came to "sign on the dotted line," I was given the usual listing of after-purchased services: fabric protection, underbody coating, etc... I never purchase these extras, and have been to some dealerships where refusal is simply not accepted and high-pressure salesmanship for these extras is the norm. I found that this was not at all the case at Checkered Flag. When I politely refused the extras, there was no additional pressure - just numerous "thank you's" for having given them my business. I felt that I got a good value, and it was a pleasant buying experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Checkered Flag to a friend. More
I was looking for a new car for my parents--and we were just starting to look. Upon our arrival at the Toyota dealership, Mr. Herbie Liverpool came out and greeted us at our car. His warm personality and friendliness was immediately noticed. I told him that I was looking and comparing prices. Needless to say, my parents wanted to go no further after spending time with. We bought the Toyota Corollo that day and picked it up on Monday morning. The car is beautiful--they love it, and they love Mr. Liverpool. My parents are 92 and 87 and he treated them with such respect and took so much time explaining every detail and engaging them in their mutual favorite pasttime--fishing. I would recommend him highly as well as Checkered Flag Toyota. More

I have purchased 4 Toyotas, 2 of them from Checkered Flag. The first one went to get the undercoating and all new stuff put on came back with a scratch. They even claimed we matched up the red paint and scratched it. Now I traded that car in 1 year later for a Yaris. I bought the Yaris in March 2008. The internet price was for 11,000 they told me I couldn't get it for that low. Bait and Real! I still buy the car what a mistake. I get a letter in September saying I owe them $500.00 because they accidently sent me a check. Then they told me I don't owe it. Now in June they told me I owe and they are wrong. I tried for 2 months to get in contact with them. Now the General Manager Rayfield is basically calling me a liar because his employees supposedly contacted me. I also traded in the Corolla when I got the Yaris and was suppose to get a $500.00 rebate, they never gave it to me. Its my problem now according to Rayfield. They are a horrible dealership. I am going back to Charles Barker Toyota where they actually care about customers. Their salesmen are also very judgmental towards women. More
