Slow and they play typical dealership games I stepped into this dealership to look at a Chevy Impala, and the sales person who "helped" me, Kathy McFarland, couldn't have known less about the hi I stepped into this dealership to look at a Chevy Impala, and the sales person who "helped" me, Kathy McFarland, couldn't have known less about the higher trims of the vehicle. I asked her what the difference between the 2LTZ and the 1LTZ was, and she had no idea... I had to look it up on my phone while I was out on the lot talking to her. Then I asked her if there was any interior color palate on the 2LTZ that came without the wood paneling, and she categorically said "no." I later looked it up online, and it turns out that there definitely is an option without wood paneling (which Kathy wasn't aware of). And the worst part of it all was that she acted uninterested and unfriendly through most of the time. But I liked the car enough, so I stayed to the point of asking her for a price. I specifically told her that I had to leave very soon because I had an appointment, so she said she'd "ask the manager" (typical dealership game -- I've been in a bunch of dealerships lately and the sales people can always give you a pretty good idea of the price)... she was then GONE for 15 full minutes, until I got fed up and decided to leave because I needed to be on time for my appointment. She and the manager saw me walk out, so the manager ran out and intercepted me in the parking lot. Very rudely, he asked if I wanted to know the price or not -- I said "sure, what's the price?" and then he told me that he was going to need 5 minutes of my time (which I did not have). 5 minutes for what? Just tell me the darn number and I'll be on my way. Again, typical dealership games. So I told him that I did not have 5 minutes and left. Later on, Kathy contacted me via e-mail with a price -- which of course was much higher than the price quoted by a different Chevy dealership in the area. I told her this, and she was not at all willing to work with me to get a sale. Overall, a very disappointing experience with this dealership. More
Great Experience After 15 years of owning a vehicle I was ready for a new car. I began my shopping for a new 2014 Impala. I started with a Chevrolet dealer in Clinton Township, where the Sales person I contacted prior to visiting him made me wait for an hour before I can talk to him. I had given him colors, model of the Impala I was looking for, so that when I arrived he would have done some research for what I was looking for. When I finally got to talk to him he didn't even look into any of my request. He then proceeds to try to sell me a vehicle that I did not want color and everything, and he did not even try to give me a good price. So I left and decided to shop around, and came across Matthews-Hargreaves Chevrolet which were open on a Saturday, where I was greeted immediately by a Sales Associate by the name of Andre. He sat me down, took my information to what vehicle I was looking for. He took the time to search and take me out to where the Impala's were. He took the time to show me what they had, when I chose the one I liked, we went in to discuss pricing. We went back and forth on the price and he took the time to go talk to the Sales Manager to get me the best price possible. He had the vehicle all prepped, cleaned and he took the time to go over all the features of vehicle. He proceed to help me with getting all my stuff from my car and move it into my new car. He made me feel like I was the only person leasing a vehicle. From negotiating to when he hand me the keys to the vehicle, my experience was top notch. Days later having the vehicle he followed up with a letter to thank me for leasing a vehicle with Matthews-Hargreaves. He also sent me another letter a few days later to wish me a Happy Birthday. I have to say my Sales Associate (Andre) went above and beyond what I expected, especially with how I was treated with the other dealership I went to. I recommend to anyone if you are looking to purchase or lease a vehicle to give Matthews-Hargreaves a chance to put you in a new vehicle. After my lease is up I will be going back for another vehicle at Matthews-Hargreaves. More
used car manager I would not recommend this dealership to anyone, i purchased a 2005 equinox in oct 2013 the car had 119 000 miles on it i had the car for almost six I would not recommend this dealership to anyone, i purchased a 2005 equinox in oct 2013 the car had 119 000 miles on it i had the car for almost six months the miles only 123,000 and now they call and tells me it needs a new engine and they refuse to fix it they want me to pay 2600 hundred for repairs, terrible way to do business, i thought this was a reputable bussiness but its anyyhing but, PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. At 10:15 am on a Saturday morning I decided I wanted to lease a new vehicle. I was tired of putting time and money into repairs on my used car. I went to a dealership that said they were open and the doors lease a new vehicle. I was tired of putting time and money into repairs on my used car. I went to a dealership that said they were open and the doors were locked no lights on. Next I called a dealership I had used in the past they were not open. I am so glad this happened. I called Matthews Hargreaves and Mike Damico answered the phone immediately. He did not have the car I needed to pull a small trailer so he found an Equinox in the color and price range I requested, ordered it and I picked it up Monday after work. This is my now my preferred dealership. More
I had transmission issues with Traverse while visiting the Detroit area. This was the only dealership in the vicinity that was open on a Saturday. Kevin and Kay worked closely to make everything possible the Detroit area. This was the only dealership in the vicinity that was open on a Saturday. Kevin and Kay worked closely to make everything possible to get me back on the road as soon as possible. The dealership provided for loaner car and helped with rental. In addition GM stood by their product and assisted with the repairs although the car was out of warranty. This is my second Chevrolet and I will continue to support GM given the integrity and their support of their product!! More

There are good dealers and then there are bad dealers. Matthews Hargreaves is either so incompetent or extremely dishonest or both. Either way the customer will suffer. It's bad enough when they don't k Matthews Hargreaves is either so incompetent or extremely dishonest or both. Either way the customer will suffer. It's bad enough when they don't know what they are talking about - but even worse when they try to take the customer for money under warranty issues. The Equinox eco-tech engine has two known high warranty issues - high oil consumption and balance chain stretch and breakage. Matthews Hargreaves wants to convince you that it's your fault that the oil is disappearing from your engine and it's your fault that the balance chain is making all this noise. They try smokescreens like; you don't have enough oil change receipts and you didn't add enough oil. You can change the oil all you want and add all the oil you want it doesn't change the fact the engine is consuming oil or the fact that the balance chain has stretched and now sounds like a diesel. My son's car sat at Matthews Hargreaves for over a week while they argued with him about whose fault it was. They wanted $1200 upfront to look at the engine and $4000 to replace the engine. I called district and then corporate and got no help from them. Finally I told my son to get his car out of there. I had it towed to another dealer and less than 24 hrs later my son was back on the road with the balance chain replaced under warranty at no cost. I'm currently tracking oil consumption because if it's more than a quart in 1000 miles I will have my son bring it back to the dealer for more warranty investigation. But it won't be to Matthews Hargreaves. Take your Equinox to Matthew Hargreaves at your own risk because they have taken the customer and have taken GM. More
