Champaign Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram responded

Thank you for your feedback. The vehicle in question was 12 years old and had over 170,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. Unfortunately vehicles of this age, with this type of mileage on them are prone to problems. The parts that comprise a vehicle are only made to last so long. We did not and do not misrepresent our vehicles. No one at our dealership made any guarantees on this vehicle. In fact several documents were signed by the customer stating that she understood that this particular vehicle was being purchased AS-IS. There was no warranty implied or inferred. As soon as we learned of the issue at hand we requested that the customer bring the vehicle back into our dealership in order to have it inspected by our service department so that we could work to remedy the issue. We were told by the customer that her schedule wouldn't allow it. Upon further inspection we found that the check engine light had come on due to a faulty gas cap (the seal on the gas cap was allowing air to be sucked into the gas tank causing the engine light to appear). The customer also stated that she was concerned that the starter might be failing. Upon hearing about this we sent the customer a check to offset the cost of having the starter replaced. This vehicle was sold AS-IS and was represented as such. We have gone above and beyond in an attempt to remedy the concerns of our customer because we care about our customers and never want one of our customers feeling upset about a purchase they made here. We strive for excellent service and customer satisfaction and feel like we have done everything in our power to make the best of this difficult situation.
