The next day, the check engine light went off before I dropped the car off. Even without the light, they were able to diagnose the problem and fix it instead of telling me that nothing could be done. power steering assist fault on 2011 Ford Explorer I was having problems with my power steering locking up preventing me from steering at all. it would usually do this at low speeds, pulling into a par I was having problems with my power steering locking up preventing me from steering at all. it would usually do this at low speeds, pulling into a parking spot or backing out. It would disable the steering with no warning. Pushing the "OK" button would not reset it. I had to turn the car off. Starting the car after a few seconds cleared it and I could go on my way. However, a week before I made the appointment to take my car in... I was making a right hand turn onto a 3 lane busy street. Upon making the turn into my lane, again the steering locked up. I was unable to turn the car into my lane on the right, ended up in the middle lane with on coming traffic in the other 2 lanes. Thank God, those other drivers were paying attention and stopped because I had to turn my car off and on again to move out of the way! Later that night I went on line to search other similar issues or causes. OH, MY GOSH!!! There were multiple websites with literally hundreds of people with the very same issue who own Explorers. After reading many of them I thought...Geez, looks like I am going to have a battle on my hands trying to get Ford to fix this. In my mind this is a very serious safety issue. Many of these responses from people were having to pay for the repairs themselves, costing up to $2000.00. I bought this car new, it has 96,000 miles on it, I have taken very good care of it and have had the 2 recalls done. the steering issue, I cannot remember exactly what it was for honestly, in 2014 and the cabin carbon monoxide issue. I parked my car until I was able to take it in. Well, when I took it to Don Chalmers Ford the service rep who helped me actually "listened" to my issues. His name is Trent Durham, he was awesome! He called me later that day to tell me the repairs were going to be covered under an extended warranty! Boy, was I relieved! It was to the tune of $1600.00. I really thought I was going to have to fight for this, reading all the bad responses to this very same problem. I have been a Ford owner for most of my driving life having my previous vehicles at least 10 years before buying another. Ford has restored my faith in their products. I will continue to be a Ford owner. More

I told him what I owed on my truck and he told me the price of his truck. It was a used 14 toyota tacoma. They were asking $29900(4 year old vehicle). So they took my truck out back to evaluate it . They told me my truck was only worth $9000 kbb and proceeded to minimize my truck to be worth nothing .I told him that I had kkb it my self and it was worth $10,500 . so after going back and forth with this nice gentleman I asked him to kbb to see what his truck was worth but he did not comply. He asked what I did for a living I told him I was an investor/ contractor he laughed and said you contractors are all the same." I couldn't believe that he referred to contractors in NM as some sort of way" I told him look we are just a few thousand dollars away from making this deal happen($3000 off) I said why dont you go back and ask the "man in the back" if he can make this work some how. He came back from asking the man in the back and said nope no way . I could believe they would not budge AT ALL on there 4yo truck. He told me what's $3000 dollars you have a lot of money I told him don Chalmers has way more than me . He then accused me of being a "robber" I said what do u mean. He said your a contractor your used to robbing people and now your tring to rob me, I said what do you mean. He said $3000 is not a lot of money . in the end we coukd not reach an agreement on the price. But I'm not upset so much with the salesman or his remarks about all contractors in NM considering I have ALOT of contractor friends that buy trucks from there and my friend/old boss from a major company here in Albuquerque buy$ MANY fleet vehicles from them. What really sad is that don Chalmers could not even go down 1 penny on a 4yo used truck smh. The salesman told me this is like Wal-Mart or any other store u can't come in here and try to negotiate on a price. Maybe hes right but I think not. I told him well then why are u a salesman, you should be a cashier.Anyway the guy was actually a nice guy but he did insult me a few times but I can look passed that... Again I'm just more disappointed in Don Chalmers I thought u were in the business to sell cars not insult people. More

We were passed around to three different sales people and each one didn’t seem very interested in our business. Also having similar vehicles at cheaper prices and lower prices found at other dealers they said they couldn’t help us. We were most disheartened by the treatment. More

I got a good deal Curtis McBeth, my sales rep, was very professional and an all around good guy. He helped me when I encountered an issue with my new truck after purch Curtis McBeth, my sales rep, was very professional and an all around good guy. He helped me when I encountered an issue with my new truck after purchasing and resolved it to my total satisfaction. Jackie Sidden, what can I say but that she's great at what she does. Always smiling and eager to help you understand the piles of paperwork that is part of buying a new vehicle. Mike McCracken took care of me when I added some additional accessories to my new truck. He kept to his promised completion time and even provided a loaner car while the work was being performed. Buying a new vehicle is a healthy investment for anyone and the people at Don Chalmers understand this. I was treated with dignity and respect. A good deal to me is not only the price you pay but also how one is treated in the buying process. So with that said, I got a good deal! More
