A handshake or verbal agreement is not to be trusted. I purchased a 2009 Lexus SUV "as is". I was OK with the car except for a cargo cover that was missing. Mark Jaffe, general manager, agreed to provide one and gave me a due bill for same. Check back in a week, he said. I did. Oh, the pick and pull didn't have one. They would order one from E-Bay, have it next week. No luck again, but now they were able to get one from the pick and pull and they were taking it to UPS for shipment. Nothing received. Oh, the guy taking it to UPS lost it, couldn't explain how, so they fired him. Finally, a call from Mark saying they were shipping one via the US Post office with a tracking number. The USPO confirmed they were told to expect a package with that number, but that no package ever arrived. Could you go to small claims court and get a judgement to enforce the due bill? Yes, but you still would need to actually collect on the due bill. If they weren't so pathetic, their excuses would be funny. Bottom line: don't trust these guys farther than you can throw them. If a part, repair, or action is needed for the car you want to buy, be willing to walk away from the deal unless it's completed before you sign anything. Oh, by the way there may also be a level of incompetence here. Turned out paperwork with the state DMV was also messed up. More
