Six weeks ago I bought my wife a new car at Mid-Island Hyundai to replace the one destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Why did I buy a Hyundai, because I owned two of them and they are great cars. I wanted a 2012 left over with a 6 cylinder engine, I called, sales said they had them, got there and they had none. 2. Special discounts offered in the showroom to induce me to buy disappeared in finance. $700. 3. I got home and checked the MID-Island inventory on line, there on the screen my car appeared, it had red tag on it offering special discounts. The special discount offered $500 cash back if I financed through Hyundai. I did finance and got nothing back. It wasn’t even mentioned. I called my salesman who said he would look into it, but I got no reply. 4. The General Sales Manager sent a letter of thanks for buying the car and requested feedback. I sent him a detailed three page letter of complaint. He never replied. 5. Someone representing Hyundai called to do a survey. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your experience at Mid-Island? I gave them a 1 (the lowest score). No reply again. We share a common problem, we are not professional buyers, but they are professional sellers, putting us at a great disadvantage especially when it comes to something like buying a car where smoke and mirrors, bait and switch can cloud judgment. I guess the boss could read this and say “That’s good salesmanship, well done boys”. Maybe I should just call it “Business as usual”. Be careful. More

Stefan was very helpful in guiding me through the process of purchasing my new Hyundai Sonata. I have a Hyundai dealer 2 minutes away from my home and actually tried to buy a care from them. They were not he of purchasing my new Hyundai Sonata. I have a Hyundai dealer 2 minutes away from my home and actually tried to buy a care from them. Our salesman - Sandy - was extremely friendly and laid back. Very easy to work with. We took a test drive and found we really liked the car. Sandy made the registration process easy (we transfered plates from our other car) and he made sure the car had the items we wanted included and that it was in great (like new) condition when we picked it up. Sandy deferred to Rob on setting the final price and Rob too was a pleasure to work with. I've never been a fan of the closing process, and the man we talked with to deliver the payments to wouldn't exactly be what I would call 'warm and fuzzy' but the process was painless in the end. I would definitely recommend Mid-Island Hyundai if you are on Long Island and looking for a new or used car! More
