When I placed my initial call to this dealership, the woman who answered the phone was very friendly. I think she could tell I was a bit nervous about finding a new place to service my car, so she was ex woman who answered the phone was very friendly. I think she could tell I was a bit nervous about finding a new place to service my car, so she was extremely polite and explained that she would be sending me to the service department. I was then routed to Ricardo/Ricky. He listened patiently to my “fumbling old lady explanation” as I told him that I was single and newly retired, had just moved to San Antonio, and was nervous about finding someone to help me take care of my car. Ricky immediately put my fears to rest as he spoke like a professional who knew exactly what my 2022 Buick Encore would require. I was so grateful that he was friendly and answered all my questions. He helped me find a convenient time to come in to have my car evaluated and even said that he would be there to facilitate the appointment. Then he made sure I knew the address of the dealership and could figure out how to get there. Today at Cavender’s North, I found the Service department to be clean (especially the restrooms) and comfortable with a well stocked waiting room. I was happily surprised to get a text update and a video about the condition of my car from the technician. Never saw that before! Ricky was careful in explaining the charges incurred today, and made recommendations for when I should return to maintain my warranty. Then when he walked me out to my car, I was delighted to see they gave me a complimentary wash. This evening as I look back over my whole new experience at this dealership, I can honestly say I have never been treated so well anywhere else. I’m looking forward to being a customer at Cavender North. More
We’ve purchased two vehicles from Cavender before and one of them being from the other Buick GMC location. I can’t say it was quite as easy or pleasant this time. I’ve heard all the rumors about dealing with of them being from the other Buick GMC location. I can’t say it was quite as easy or pleasant this time. I’ve heard all the rumors about dealing with car salesmen and being that I used to be one myself in past, I thought I knew what to look for and how not to get wrapped up in one of the bad deals people always talk about. That’s not what happened this time around, our salesman was great I don’t think he was at fault for any of this but the truth is that we discussed one certain price that we agreed to and they had it in writing too. To my understanding that it was to be submitted and we were to wait for approval from the lenders. We waited one week until we received the news that there was approval for our deal, so we go in and it happens that we went in at the time when our salesman was getting off. I thought that was ok because we simply had to visit with the finance manager and that was it. After waiting almost 2 hours to be seen by the finance manager, the process in there took exactly 5 minutes. It was rushed and too obvious that something wasn’t right. We were told to sign on an iPad and even at that you don’t really sign anything, you just touch the screen and somehow our signature was recorded there, not giving us the chance to read anything. Turns out the price we were signing for was not at all the price that we originally discussed with the salesman. We signed to a much higher price where they included a package that is supposed to be the protection against the paint and interior upholstery. We were told that it was something we would not have to pay so that the price could be lower and we wouldn’t finance as much. I truly believe that it was all part of the plan as to why they make you wait 2 hours so that your tired, hungry and just want to get out of there. Then they bring you in to the office and tell you that they’re sorry for the wait but that they will get you out in no time. So they ask you to start signing away without fully explaining what is on there and unless you read the paperwork before you drive off, you’re now locked into a contract with figures you may not have really discussed. Since then I have spoken up to my salesman and he said that he was going to run it up the chain of command but the deal has already been funded and now there’s really no way of getting out of it. Here’s the worst part, it was a pre-owned vehicle so I expected a few blemishes but never did I expect damages especially ones that are marked on the Carfax, which they never went over with us, I had to get the Carfax on my own. Cavender is a reputable name in the car industry here in these parts, and I don’t blame the entire company, this time around it disappointed some customers and feel taken advantage of. Sure we did not have the best credit and we’re thankful that they could work with us considering where we were on our credits. Still I don’t feel it’s right to be told one thing and not make it happen at the end especially without proper explanation. More
The folks at Cavender Buick North treat you like a human being and not just as a dollar value in a ledger. I bought a 2016 Ford Fiesta from them in August. Right after I finished the paperwork, I got into t being and not just as a dollar value in a ledger. I bought a 2016 Ford Fiesta from them in August. Right after I finished the paperwork, I got into the car to leave the lot but I noticed that there was an issue with the power port. It took some persistence on my part, but I eventually spoke to the general manager about it. Even though Cavender could have refused to fix it on a legal technicality, the management eventually did the morally right thing and agreed to have it fixed. This is why I go to reputable car dealerships like Cavender and not some random guy on the street -- because Cavender doesn't treat you like a one-off customer. Cavender treats you like a valued, long-term customer. More
My 2021 Yukon has been in service more than 3x. Still having SD issues. Was told originally needs a reprogram, then it was a faulty SD module, finally replaced the SD card, problem has come back. We hav having SD issues. Was told originally needs a reprogram, then it was a faulty SD module, finally replaced the SD card, problem has come back. We have had two previous Yukon’s and have never had these problems. To top it off on one of my visits, the service tech wrecked my car. I understand mistakes, but to have them take over two weeks to schedule me only to wait even longer due to an improper delivery time is worse. Cherry on top, was being put in an encore after being told I would get a enclave rental. Luckily they were able to switch us. The whole time there was miscommunication between service and the collision center. Which made me the one doing the follow up. Finally had to call to speak to Service manager. This was to get an understanding, as to why my unit was not being serviced three days after my schedule appointment. I wrote this post 4 months ago on Google reviews. Cavender’s response is to contact them. I have reached out to the service team, service manager Jason and the service director. For the last two months have called 3-4x for follow up and haven’t gotten a response. My Yukon is still not fixed. More

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst dealership I’ve ever been a part of. I have never even give a negative review in my life but they are so horrible I felt the need. Bought my sons first car from here ever been a part of. I have never even give a negative review in my life but they are so horrible I felt the need. Bought my sons first car from here a couple of months ago. Got talked into the expensive warranty. Immediately had an issue. Took it in. Said it was related to the battery so wasn’t covered. $500. A month later all the paint starts peeling off the top. Never seen this in my life. Take it in. They say “oh it’s a defect from manufacturer”. Won’t do anything to help. Rude when we call. Horrible customer service. My poor son stuck with a $15,000 piece of crap for first car. I can’t stress this enough, DO NOT go to this dealership. Absolute worst. Save yourself the Heartache and go elsewhere More
They can't fix the tough stuff I bought a new 2007 Avalanche from Cavender Chevy, and all major service was performed by Cavender GMC North for last 10 years. This summer, the compu I bought a new 2007 Avalanche from Cavender Chevy, and all major service was performed by Cavender GMC North for last 10 years. This summer, the computer aboard began sending false signals resulting in loss of engine power and traction control while driving. Online blogs show this problem is not uncommon and I furnished them to Cavender when I asked for repairs to be made. Cavender made other (unneeded) repairs for $467 and next day, same problem. Now Cavender won't return my calls, won't refund me. Repeated calls were made including to William Donohue, Joe Stallings, Todd Cavender. None returned. I haven't reached out to Bobby Cavender yet -hoping I don't have to. Maybe Cavender can fix the easy stuff, but they can't tackle the tough stuff. Avoid service dept. More
Incommunicative, Unprofessional, Misinformed! True definition of unprofessionalism and lack of customer service is how I would describe my experience at Cavender GMC/Buick. I was incredibly disapp True definition of unprofessionalism and lack of customer service is how I would describe my experience at Cavender GMC/Buick. I was incredibly disappointed with their service. I inquired about a used car and originally worked with Adam Ochoa and Roger Rivera (sales manager?). After a few days of planning, I was able to make a trip from Austin to San Antonio on 02/18/19 to test drive the car I wanted. I was looking to make a decision fairly quickly. Upon arrival, Daniel Ramirez was assigned to us. Adam came by to introduce himself, and both salesmen made sure to emphasize they took turns being the “Salesman of the Month”. After being presented with hypothetical numbers, I decided to move forward with my credit application. I requested to be run with my credit union first (preferred lender). While I waited, Daniel spent his time offering a $960 “insurance” for tires, paint, and leather conditioning. Despite asking about the price and terms of the bumper-to-bumper warranty Cavender offered, I did not receive an answer better than “It covers anything the light touches”, but no price or terms. I was declined for financing with the Credit Union, which I was prepared for (I am rebuilding credit). I spoke to Ron (finance) and agreed to run my credit with two more lenders. After an hour wait, Daniel came back to the sales floor to inform me I was approved with one of the lenders, with a higher down-payment. I requested the full terms and conditions of the loan to discuss them with my husband, and his response was “I don’t have them” (first attempt). Daniel said he would find out, and call me. At this point, I had spent SEVERAL hours at Cavender and decided to drive back to Austin. I did not hear back from Daniel that day. My husband and I decided we could offer a 50% down-payment if we could get a low note, OR purchase the vehicle cash if it was the best option for our family. I reached out to Daniel the next morning (02/19/2018) at 11AM to request the terms (second attempt). He responded finance had the paperwork, but I would get a response as soon as possible. I called again at 2:30PM and was told they were swamped and he needed to call me back. At 5:45PM I reached out to him, yet again, and he responded “Still Swamped” (third attempt). I decided to reach out to Roger in hopes of obtaining the terms of the loan and I was told he would “look in to it” (fourth, and last attempt). By the end of the day, I still did not have the terms of the loan I got approved for. After wasting our time with this dealership, we decided to apply for a loan through the same Credit Union directly, and went to CARMAX in Austin (famous for no haggle pricing). We drove our new car home yesterday! In the end, we walked out with a much better deal. We paid a relatively comparable amount for a newer car, with less miles, luxury package.. and the price included bumper-to-bumper warranty! The car I wanted had been at Cavender for over 180 days when I went to see it, and last I checked, it’s still sitting in their lot. Save yourself the headache, this dealer is not doing YOU a favor. Spend your money wisely, and go elsewhere. You won’t regret it! More
