PRIVATE Response From: Gary Lang Auto Group Added: 7/17/2014 12:31:56 PM Tim, Sorry to hear about your experience regarding recent service. In reviewing the repair order dated May 09, 2014 you will see that utilizing the factory scan tool it provided a single code that indicated that the catalytic converter was failing and needed to be replaced. It did not display at that time an O2 sensor issue. There is a chance that when you utilized your scan tool it erased the code once it was read. I'm not deflecting blame or anything just stating that the O2 sensor was cleared. Our technician utilized the information from the factory scan tool and ordered the converter. Upon return on June 16, 2014 the technician following factory protocol rechecked the onboard computer which had stored two additional codes indicating an upstream failure of the O2 Sensor and intermittent operation failure. The system still showed that the converter was affected but its failure was directly related to the upstream failure. Once the three store codes appeared together the technician proceeded with the repairs based on fixing problems in order and now determined it un-necessary to replace the converter. I'm actually proud of my technicians action. Some repair shops would have continued with an unneeded repair billing the manufacturer or the customer. Given that a converter costs thousands I'm happy it ended this way. Jody Schutte General Manager
