A breath of fresh air After more than a week of getting sindled and screwed around by other dealers in the area, I went to Gary Lang and worked with Carlos. In less than h After more than a week of getting sindled and screwed around by other dealers in the area, I went to Gary Lang and worked with Carlos. In less than half an hour he got me the EXACT car I wanted at the price I needed. No haggling or lying. Even though he didn't have the exact car I wanted on the lot, he is me my new Sonic in a hard to find color in less than 24 hours when other dealers in the area quoted me a week or to get it, and wanted to charge me Thousands More. He is also getting the car equipped with all the features I wanted, some of which other dealers told me weren't even available on the car. Carlos' honest and friendly demenor have gained a customer for life. Gary Lang and Carlos literally saved me thousands of dollars and hours of time and stress. I wish I had known to come here sooner. I spent a week of being stressed out and missing dinners for nothing. Everyone at the dealer has been friendly and considerate of my time and budget. I hope to enjoy my car for years to come, but when the time does come to buy again, I will be back! More
New Car Purchase I came across this dealership through a initial car search for auto lots in Chicago. I knew that I wanted to purchase a 2014 Kia Cadenza. I initially I came across this dealership through a initial car search for auto lots in Chicago. I knew that I wanted to purchase a 2014 Kia Cadenza. I initially received an approval within minutes. From there I began to have correspondence with the receptionist who informed me of my salesman.. Nelson . Nelson sent emails and phone calls back and forth for a few days and then had me speak with Ed. I decided to go for it and drive to Illinois on Sat. From the moment I drove on the lot, I was greeted smiles by salesmen and women with respect. There facility was very inviting, upscale technology, well maintained and provided free beverages. I am very much thankful for the customer service that they all provided whether I was their customer or not. I was there for more hours that I intended but some of it was due to me looking at other cars. But once I decided on the Kia, things began to run rather quickly. They also served us lunch while we waited for the paperwork and detailing to take place. Ed the finance dept. helped to work out a deal I was comfortable with and Ozzie helped to finalize all paperwork and offer background information on the warranty. I want to Thank them for such a great experience with purchasing a new car. I got the car I wanted, with a decent price and I just love it!! I will most definitely purchase from them again. The comfort of buying a new car at Gary Lang Smiles & a friendly welcome at the door made us feel good. Our sales person, Brian Palenshus went beyond what we expected for service. He answered all our questions and was very pleasant and efficient to work with. A big thank you to Jake Lee for his help on the technology of the car. Horrible experience. I called this dealership from St. Louis asking about price. They told me a price and INSISTED the manager was very willing to come down on the price I called this dealership from St. Louis asking about price. They told me a price and INSISTED the manager was very willing to come down on the price if I came in. I was coming this way for Easter and so I drove the extra hour and checked it out. I spoke with Leo, or something like that, and he was very nonchalant and in no way personable. Long story short, they did not come down a dollar from what they told me on the phone a few days prior. The Manager refused to come speak with me as well. I ended up taking the car anyways, as I had limited time and I could not find this car anywhere near me. Leo insisted the price was fair because the Carfax was just fantastic. However, the transmission went out 6 month later. Thank god I paid for the warranty. Just an FYI, this was a year ago, so I'm much more reserved then before. A few months after I bought the car, I called about getting an oil change. They told me there was a special so again I drove the hour to get a good price only to be told that it was a GM deal, not a subaru deal, when I got there. They're absolutely classless and will harass you on the phone like they did with my friend, if you show any interest in buying a new car. All dealerships are shady, but this was just pathetic, from the phone associates to the managers and the service center. More
Like the new car not the time it took to get it My husband and I wish the whole car buying process could have taken less time considering we were the only people purchasing a vehicle. We arrived on My husband and I wish the whole car buying process could have taken less time considering we were the only people purchasing a vehicle. We arrived on a Friday evening and were the only people in there purchasing a new car. I typically buy a new car every 3 years so I am not new to the game. Understandably Marcus needed to deal with his sales manager but Marcus and the sales manager knew what we wanted and what we wanted to pay (which they met after 3 hours of going back and forth). The facility is massive, the staff is very friendly, and Derek who had our financing paperwork was more than speedy in getting us out the door. More

Salesman Marcus Jones and Sales Manager Dion Fain did a good job making the transaction happen. I do recommend this dealership to others. More
Best car buying experience I have ever had. I will be returning when it's time for a new car. Everything from the purchase to the final signature went very smooth. I will be returning when it's time for a new car. Everything from the purchase to the final signature went very smooth. More
This review is really all towards David Barndt. My husband, father and I went in on Saturday 3/15 and did not have the best experience with a different sales man. Went back today, Monday 3/17 and left husband, father and I went in on Saturday 3/15 and did not have the best experience with a different sales man. Went back today, Monday 3/17 and left because it became even worse! David called the manager because he over heard raised voices. Thus now David got the sale tonight. So all the "marked greats" are because of David Barndt. P.S. the bad experience came from Chris More
I went to GL for service on my 2011 Cadillac and to get information on entering a new lease. I had my Cadillac in for routine service in February, and one week later I started having problems with the fan information on entering a new lease. I had my Cadillac in for routine service in February, and one week later I started having problems with the fan for the interior heat and cooling. I was told my Cadillac needed new tires (cost of $1200) and that a rodent had made a nest in my engine department, requiring out of pocket repair costs because the warranty and the Cadillac service coverage did not cover rodent damage. I was told that while they could "fix" the rodent problem, there was no guarantee that there wouldn't be more repairs down the line that I would then need to pay, because there is never a guarantee that rodents don't cause more uncovered damage until the problems show up. The tires had 34,000 miles on them, and I find out now that I should not have needed new tires until I had 60,000 miles on the vehicle. I was never shown proof of the "rodent damage" and believe that the service department created the problem. I also believe that the service department created a lot of fake issues and planted unfounded doubt in my mind about retaining the Cadillac in order to entice me to get into a new lease. I was told, by a phone call from Julie Rush in advance of my appointment, that Cadillac had a program to get me out of my lease early. I was led to believe that the remaining payments on my lease would be forgiven. I wanted my new lease payments to remain the same, the new vehicle to be a luxury vehicle, and for the new vehicle to have more interior space. I was only shown one type of vehicle: a GMC terrain. I was told that this was a luxury vehicle comparable to the Cadillac. My appointment was a 12:30 and I had picked out a new lease vehicle by 2 pm, but was kept at the dealership until well after 6:30 pm. Beginning at 3pm, I made repeated statements that I needed to wrap up the process and needed to get home because I had a 6 month old baby who was nursing. By the time I was finally shown the financial documents - 6 hours after my appointment - I was rushed through the signing process because it was at that point so late. As a result, I missed that not only were the remaining payments of my old lease rolled into my new lease, but three optional costs were included, at a cost of just under $800 for one, and just under $600 for the other two combined, that I had not knowingly approved. I was told through the signing process that that the wheel coverage (for flat tires) and the protection if the car was stolen, -- etc. "were part of the deal" and led to believe these were at no cost to me. I was told that these great coverages were part of the deal, as in GL was throwing in a lot of extras because I was a repeat customer. It was NEVER explained to me that these costs were included in my monthly payment, and that I did not have to have these costs, that I could decline the costs. Because the old lease payments and these fraudulent extras were included in my total costs, I am paying several thousands more than needed and my monthly payments are $100 to $150 higher than they should be. I was focused on the monthly payment and needing to get home, and the dealership knew this. I feel that the dealership used the knowledge that I was very concerned about getting home to its advantage and my detriment. I feel I was intentionally kept at the dealership through unnecessary but intentional and deceptive delays so that I would feel rushed, pressured, and not focused on the details. I feel pertinent information, including the roll over of the lease payments and the three optional warranty costs, were intentionally kept quiet and not explained. I feel the dealership took the information of where I wanted my monthly payments to be, and then showed me a cheaper vehicle and padded the difference with unnecessary extras -- taking what should have been a savings to me through a lower payment and adding in extras I did not approve to get the price to where I said I wanted it at the sole benefit to GL and detriment to me, without explaining how my monthly payment was composed and giving me the opportunity to knowingly turn down the extra payments. I feel ripped off and that GL took advantage of me and my situation. Were the people there friendly? Yes -- but it is all part of the act to lull you into a false sense of trust. More
