We are very loyal repeat customers of Capitol City Honda in Olympia…, however with the exceptional customer service we experienced today we may venture to Ballard with our next car purchase. The financial rep, Yang, was so fast and super down to earth. They both deserve a raise! Go to Carter Subaru in Ballard, you won’t be disappointed!! More

"In fact, women buy 62 percent of all new cars sold in the U.S. and influence more than 85 percent of all car purchases." Carter Subaru Ballard needs to keep this in mind! I've bought the last 7 cars the U.S. and influence more than 85 percent of all car purchases." Carter Subaru Ballard needs to keep this in mind! I've bought the last 7 cars in our family and I truly hate being jerked around by any dealership that refuses to deal with a woman, (just CAN'T accept the fair price offered) but will make the EXACT same deal to the penny that I try to make if it comes from my husband. They also inflated title and registration numbers by over $250 to make the deal on the sale - even when questioned if they were accurate figures. Then once we agreed on the 'out the door price', they took the excess money they'd quoted and moved it from the fees and added it to the purchase price of the car on the paperwork! We scheduled an appointment to pick up the car a day in advance. When we got there, we were the ONLY customers, and none came in while we waited. We still waited over 1.5 hours to get our purchase finalized. It was such a waste of our time. More
Carter in Ballard was not my first choice when requesting price bids on the model I wanted due to its poor rating on DealerRater, but sales person Bill Koch responded to my pricing request with the most comp price bids on the model I wanted due to its poor rating on DealerRater, but sales person Bill Koch responded to my pricing request with the most competitive bid, so I proceeded carefully. Thankfully the purchasing experience ended up being pretty flawless--I found Bill to be very straight-forward and conscientious. Delivery took longer than expected due to pandemic-disrupted production and transportation, but I expected that so was okay with waiting. In the end I got exactly the car I wanted at what I perceive to be a fair price, and had a truly painless purchasing experience. I would highly recommend Bill Koch as a salesperson--I feel like I got great service and exactly what I needed. More
Genuinely Great Experience My wife and I recently leased our very first Subaru from Carter Subaru - a 2019 Subaru Forester. We were fortunate enough to have Steven Mackie as our salesperson and he was seriously fantastic. Incredibly kind, thoughtful, and a sincere listener as we chatted through what we were looking for in a new vehicle. He gets us :) Mark Arbar, our finance rep, was also a joy to work with and kind as well. Overall, we highly recommend the experience of looking for a new or used car at Carter and couldn't speak more highly of Steven and Mark. More
No Thank You Now I understand why Carter Subaru of Ballard receives such poor ratings. From the moment of arrival at this local dealership I did not have the sense Now I understand why Carter Subaru of Ballard receives such poor ratings. From the moment of arrival at this local dealership I did not have the sense that the salesman was genuinely motivated to provide the excellent customer service touted on their website. The salesman left me sitting alone in their main lobby for lengthy periods of time periodically arriving to ask me various intrusive and irrelevant questions all the while telling me "it would just be a few more minutes". His lack of respect and juvenile defensive attitude towards me while conducting our business was offensive and unprofessional. Salesman yelling at the customer is not conducive to making the sale. If this experience is indicative of how Carter Subaru operates I am surprised they are still in business. No thank you to Carter Subaru in Ballard - I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. More
Favorable Experience in Buying New CrossTrek I was very happy with my buying experience from Carter Subaru of Ballard. The no-pressure sales staff was very easy to get along with. I worked closel I was very happy with my buying experience from Carter Subaru of Ballard. The no-pressure sales staff was very easy to get along with. I worked closely with Sarah and Bill. We looked at a few different models and options and settled on the perfect car for me. They were very honest and up-front which I appreciated. I had previously visited a handful of other dealerships in my search for a new or pre-owned Subaru Cross Trek. Those experiences were not as pleasant. I encountered sales staffs that seemed more focused on pressuring me into a quick sale then actually working with me to find the right car match. In one situation, I had trouble getting my keys back from a sales staff from another dealership after they quoted my trade-in car. The staff at Carter Subaru didn’t employ any of those old fashioned sales tactics. I was also pleased with the finance options and price of the car I purchased as well as the value I received on my trade in. After I purchased the car, Bill walked me through all the features and checked in on me a few days after I left the dealership. Based off my experience, I would highly recommend Carter Subaru to others looking to buy a new car. More

Without going into too many of the disastrous details the one I found the most unprofessional was the General manager demanded my credit card information to put a “deposit on the car since he was transferring it.” Let’s just say this is not my first car, nor my most expensive. I was disgusted at his pressure tactic. If this happens to you, please don’t buy into it it is illegal for him to even charge you for something like that. It doesn’t exist. Not to mention it’s so unprofessional and I was so disgusted at that along with the rest of my dealings with him. I would never go back, nor will I ever recommend that dealer. Normally I’m the one that leaves reviews praising service. In this case I was disgusted. Again that’s just a couple highlights. the whole process with a nightmare. A few months later I bought my pleasure car which was a Porsche and had and absolutely outstanding experience. I would avoid dealing with this general manager. More

We drove to Ballard, and the sales person that My husband Todd and I saw an Outback on the Carter Subaru Ballard website that we were interested in. We drove to Ballard, and the sales person that helped us, Lauren, looked at the inventory and told us "yes the car is available." We walked a short distance to the lot to look at and test drive the car. As we got to the lot, "the keys weren't where they normally were kept" So the sales person called the office and she then went to retrieve the keys. We chose to stay at the lot as the office was only a short distance away. Soon it began to rain, thankfully there was a little cover from a tree on the lot. After some time, Lauren called to suggest we walk back to the showroom and wait at her desk for her as she continued to try and locate the keys. She then met us back at her desk to inform us that the keys were not available because the car had not yet been inspected and therefore, not available to test drive or purchase. When asked how long it will be until the car is inspected, she replied "I don't know, could be a day, or a week" After some questioning to some of her other coworkers, it was suggested we call back the next day, she also said she would contact us as soon as the car was inspected and available. We feel that the salesperson should have known that the car was not yet inspected and not yet available for a test drive. We saw a similar car at another Subaru location (same year, similar miles , same options) A quick phone call to the other dealer the next morning, and we agreed on a price. When we spoke with Lauren that morning , now the original car was inspected and available, I made an offer equal to what the other dealer offered, she said she was only able to lower their price a "few hundred dollars" ($200.00). We went to the other dealer to buy the car from them as Ballard was not willing to negotiate any further. Also parking at the Ballard location was very difficult. I have purchased a previous car at Carter Volkswagen and was happy with that experience. However we were a bit disappointed with our experience at Ballard Subaru, More
