I had the car towed to the Porsche Carlsbad dealership late on Thursday afternoon and late on Friday afternoon we were told that the repairs, which were described as replacing the coolant bottle, hose and cap, would cost $3,500.00. When asked for additional details we were told it was a 7-man hour job and given vague responses. We were also told that the "Shutter System" needed to be repaired for $1,700.00, even though there was not any indication it was not working . We did not authorize any work to be done until we received a detailed quote which we never received before the end of the day. On Monday morning I had the car towed to an independent foreign car mechanic who specializes in Porsches and has many 5-star reviews across all review sites. After doing a thorough inspection of the car, all they found that was needed was to replace a cracked coolant bottle, period. The total cost of the inspection, parts and labor was $385.00. I can't begin to fathom the amount of people who are taken advantage of and don't know to question what appears to be an unreasonable quote. I don't know if this is because I am a woman and acknowledge that I don't know anything about cars. Always get a detailed quote and shop your repairs. There are amazing service specialists out there who can provide reasonable rates. More

Misdiagnosed. Aren’t you the dealer? Had a scheduled appointment for my 80,000 mile service. On my way there had an issue with the cooling system so I asked them to diagnose this as well. Had a scheduled appointment for my 80,000 mile service. On my way there had an issue with the cooling system so I asked them to diagnose this as well. My car was checked in as the wrong model just as others have reported. I called them to have them fix it but they said it was a default and it didn’t matter. Well now my service records look strange... The service was performed as expected, I hope, because they said my cooling tank had a crack which cause my cooling issue. We have our own mechanic so when the car was serviced I was having it towed to my mechanic. When I picked up the car the sales guy drove the car to the front even though I told him there was a cooling issue and the car was being towed. As you could guess, fluid went all over the engine compartment and the driveway. Once at our mechanic he found that not only was the cooling tank cracked but the water pump needed to be replaced as well. Quite a different diagnosis. After this ordeal the service manager called and emailed me requesting that I return the documents that were given to me because it was their copy for their records. I came down the next day to return the documents only to find out that what I had was correct. So apparently they lost their records of my service. I also let them know about the misdiagnosis. He just said he’d talk to the guys. Didn’t sound too convincing to me. Find another Porsche dealer! More

Living Up To A Bad Reputation On the 14th of December after a service at Hoehn I received an unsolicited email asking me to review the dealership. The email said, if I was unhappy On the 14th of December after a service at Hoehn I received an unsolicited email asking me to review the dealership. The email said, if I was unhappy in any way, to contact them first. It gave me the email of both the General Manager and the Service Manager. This is the email I sent. The Service Manager email bounced back. I assume the GM received this. I included my name and cell number in the email. Since no one followed up with me, I am now accepting their invitation to post a review. The body of my email is included for your viewing pleasure. “Gentlemen You may or not be aware, but Porsche Dealership Service gets a very bad rap on PCA, Rennlist and other forums. Unfortunately my experience with your service department didn’t do anything to improve that perception. I had a flat recently, luckily less than a mile from your dealership. I was towed to your service and was checked in for a flat fix. 1. The tech checked my 2007 911 Turbo in as a GT3; thanks for the upgrade, but doesn’t the VIN tell you what I’m driving? 2. The next day he explained how I needed to pay $25 per wheel extra to have my “center lock” wheels removed ... sorry wrong model. 5 lugs per wheel ... take them off enough to know that by heart. 3. I also asked that they check an intermittent start problem. I told the tech this had been diagnosed by my mechanic as a problem with the key recognition module and that only a Dealer could address the issue. Your department responded that it was simply a loose battery cable and low charge on the battery. Tightened and charged. Funny, car still starts intermittently. 4. Car was returned “washed,” but not really. More like hosed off. In the end, I paid $1200 for two new rear tires, an alignment and a repair that didn’t fix the ignition problem even though I was very clear what had been previously diagnosed. They did a thorough inspection of a variety of other items like brakes and the clutch slave cylinder that need attention ... but at this point I’m afraid NOT BY Hoehn. Side note; i was told by your tech the car has a lowering kit on it and and the alignment could not be brought into spec. Since I am not the original owner, this doesn’t come as a surprise, except .... I brought the car into Hoehn before I bought it and had paid for a Pre Purchase Inspection and that was never mentioned. Only that I should replace the aftermarket wheels with Porsche OEM. So is it a surprise that yours and other dealerships get such bad press on the Forums? Ultimately, regarding your email about my service experience ... I doubt you want me giving reviews on any public forums What’s a Porsche owner to do? I’m sorry for the obvious sarcasm and attitude of my email but guys ... YOU’RE SUPPOSED to be the ultimate authority on these automobiles and yet I feel like no one took the time to properly diagnose and repair what actually was going on. The “lowering” issue was icing on the cake - what did I pay for when I got the Pre Purchase Inspection? Recommendations on buying more parts from Hoehn? This is why the number 1 search on the forums is “reputable service,” because despite selling the creme dela creme of performance, we’re made to feel like free bags of cash when we walk into the service department. Now I’m ranting. My apologies.” More
