I didn’t think I could afford to get a new car at this time but thought I would “window” shop for curiosity. They looked at my4 year old Camry and gave me a good trade in value. My wife recently took her 2015 Toyota Sienna van for service. She explained that the seatbelt was not recoiling as it should. She agreed to the $90 diagnostic fee. She later received a call that the rep service. She explained that the seatbelt was not recoiling as it should. She agreed to the $90 diagnostic fee. She later received a call that the repair would be $700-$800. She told them to hold off. When we picked the van up we were charged $115. $15 was for shop supplies??? When we got home I crawled in the back of the van to look at the seatbelt myself. I am by no means a mechanic but do consider myself mechanically inclined. Within 15 minutes I was able to identify the simple problem and fix it. I understand that a seatbelt is a safety product but I am also smart enough to know there is no way a technician looked at the problem. I’m assuming they heard seatbelt and automatically recommended replacement. As to the “shop supplies” I have no idea what it could be. More
