Don't get me wrong, Carl Black mechanics are really good but the customer service advisors could use some skills training. Zack has a problem with providing customer service since he won't return phone call but the customer service advisors could use some skills training. Zack has a problem with providing customer service since he won't return phone calls or communicate with the customer. Then he had the nerve to say it was bad information from the customer. No, the customer gave him the information, he is the one that did not call the customer back with the new updates; like, no we don't have your car. Zach could not spend two minutes to return a call to the customer and say the car was not received from the tow truck driver. In a two hour timeframe he could not call the customer and advise the car was missing. That is not customer service, that is incompetence. More
They put me in a no win situation. I took my very old Yukon to them to see if it was worth repairing. I had been told by an independent mechanic that the engine needed replacing. I I took my very old Yukon to them to see if it was worth repairing. I had been told by an independent mechanic that the engine needed replacing. I wanted a second opinion from a dealer. A few days later they told me that they could make the repairs needed for 2k. I approved the repairs even though the vehicle is only worth maybe 6k. After making those repairs I was informed that while on a test drive they realized that the oil pressure was very low and they needed to perform an engine diagnostic for another $400.00. I approved this even though I did not understand why this was not done first. The result was that the engine needed to be replaced and that would cost 10k. They offered to reduce the initial cost of repairs if I replaced the engine. So 12k or so to repair a vehicle worth 6k. My other option was to pick up the car with what amounts to a blown engine for 2k. A phone call to the service manger resulted in a reduction to 1.2k for the repairs to a blown engine. So I picked up the car which is basically scrap metal for 1.2k today. It could be worse I suppose…….I do have a fresh tune up on a blown engine. More

I have been taking my Chevy Silverado to Carl Black for serving for over a year. Each encounter is fantastic. The staff here is consistently friendly, up front about pricing, and happy to answer questions. serving for over a year. Each encounter is fantastic. The staff here is consistently friendly, up front about pricing, and happy to answer questions. Leonard recently went above and beyond for me on my last visit, helping to re-engage my tailgate after another truck backed into my fender. As silly as it might seem, the fact that my tailgate wasn't properly connecting and I wasn't able to fix it on my own was a huge stressor to me. Leonard's thoughtful precision saved the day and I feel much safer driving my vehicle. If you are looking for fast, reliable, friendly service - Carl Black is top notch! More
Horrible experience. This is my mother’s car and she has cancer and is completely stressed out now and scared to drive her own car. First repair — unskilled mechanic supposedly left a connection loose. Serv cancer and is completely stressed out now and scared to drive her own car. First repair — unskilled mechanic supposedly left a connection loose. Service rep was so cavalier about everything. Mechanic mishap could have put my mother’s life in danger on the highway. Had to demand to have it towed back to dealer and demand a loaner car. Never offered refund. After second repair, car now making a cracking noise. Should have checked out awful reviews of this dealership first. And in the midst of a global pandemic not ONE staff person in dealership worn a mask and I was there at least three different times during all the mishaps. And how can this dealership demand customers wear masks and not one staff person wears a mask. How can cam service rep and that mechanic live with themselves with how they put my mother’s life in danger? I just don’t know what to do now. Overall, they are crooks and a dangerous dealership. Our Chevy Cruze was on a 2020 roadtrip from Mississippi to Michigan. The clutch started smoking during the trip. Hearing that parts supply chain is interrupted with COVID had the vehicle towed from Mich to Michigan. The clutch started smoking during the trip. Hearing that parts supply chain is interrupted with COVID had the vehicle towed from Michigan to Carl Black in Nashville where I knew I could let sit for a few days if needed due to any parts delay. Service center called and quoted the price to replace the clutch. Gave them him the ‘go ahead’ to proceed with the clutch replacement. Received a second phone call from service department with an update, he stated that when the radiator lines were being removed the mechanic discovered the radiator reservoir was filled with engine oil. He stated that the vehicle has a blown head gasket and it will be over $7,000 to replace the clutch and the blown head gasket (along with the complete cooling system due to oil contamination). I was abit taken back by this as the vehicle has never been overtemped. The service department stated that it is odd but still can occur. He texted me a video of the black oil in the reservoir. I advised not to proceed with any further repairs as over $7,000 in repairs is greater than the value of the car and I need to make a decision to scrap the vehicle. The service department stated scrapping the vehicle may be my decision and the mechanic that discovered the oil stated he would purchase the vehicle from me. I was perplexed with how a clutch repair had turned into a head gasket repair. I did some research and made a number of phone calls. I advised the service department I would not be selling to the mechanic and coming to pick it up with a truck and trailer and bring back to Mississippi. When I arrived at Carl Black to load up the vehicle I was given the vehicle to load on trailer disassembled and a zip lock bag of bolts and screws in the back seat along with parts. The service department stated that in order to put it back together I would be charged double labor. The vehicle was towed back to Mississippi where I began to look at. I was surprised to see when I removed the radiator line that there was no oil in the line only black oil in the reservoir. I drained the bottom of the radiator and only orange radiator fluid came out. I flushed the coolant system 3 times and ran the engine at temp. I was unable to duplicate any oil infiltration into the cooling system. It was starting to appear that the Carl Black service department is not shooting straight. I towed to a local mechanic who pressure checked the system with no findings. After the pressure check I advised to replace the clutch. Since that time I have driven the vehicle without any problem. I decided the best thing to do is call the Carl Black General Manger and detail this matter, there may be a mechanic at his dealership that is not above bar. The General Manager stated he was grateful that I called. He stated it is not the call he wants to get but an important call. He stated to send him the videos from his shop with oil in the reservoir and he would investigate. A few days passed and I received a call from a Service Manager. The Service Manager explained that he investigated the matter and they had never quoted me any blown head gasket repairs. I asked if he saw the video that his shop sent and asked why would I spend time and money to have it towed back to Mississippi after advising to proceed with the clutch repairs. He stated that he is “only a third party” on this matter. I asked to have the General Manager call me as obviously I was quoted head gasket repair costs. I also texted the GM to call me to further discuss the matter. To date I have received no call-backs from the General Manager to close the matter. I find myself now writing these reviews to provide caution to others that may consider Carl Black services. More
