The car buying process at Carmax is relatively straight forward and easy, no pressure, no haggling, and straight forward pricing. Unfortunately once you signed the paperwork you find out the process is so forward and easy, no pressure, no haggling, and straight forward pricing. Unfortunately once you signed the paperwork you find out the process is so easy because of the poor quality of the cars they sell. As soon as we pulled off the lot there was a multitude of problems that should have easily been caught during their supposed 150 point inspection, but were somehow missed. We purchased a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, but were not afforded a test drive due to the car shipping from Texas. Upon driving it home, the first thing noticeable was how filthy the van was. Dirt all over the carpet, grease everywhere, my wife took a wet wipe to the steering wheel and it turned black! This was after we had to wait two days after the van was delivered so Carmax could "clean" it. The blind stop monitoring system was out of service per the message flashing on the dash, the front brakes were shot, the air conditioning barely worked, there was an issue with the front suspension, and a moldy smell blew through the vents when the air conditioning was turned on. In order to fix these issues I have had to bring the van in for service 5 times and they still haven't managed to fix it. I bought the van May 1, so in less than two months the van has been in the shop more often than it has been in my driveway. The latest service is what caused me to write this review as I've reached my wits end. The front suspension issue has not been resolved during the previous 4 visits, so after dropping the van off for the 5th time I was called a liar because Carmax claimed they could not replicate the issue. I called to escalate my issues to some sort of management but was instead passed around from person to person without a resolution. Their so-called Sales Manager Kat is extremely rude and condescending, calling my wife a liar over the phone and ignoring our issue. I would recommend they keep her away from customers. The suspension issue is a serious safety concern for my wife and I due to the van being our family hauler, unfortunately Carmax puts profit above the safety of a family. Id you are in the market for a used car, I cannot stress how important it is that you pass Carmax by. A vehicle purchase is a huge financial commitment, with the hope being that it lasts you 5+ years. Instead I'm stuck with a car that hasn't lasted me 5 days. More
Just want to inform potential buyers of automobiles at Carmax to insist on receiving a CarFax report. My wife purchased a Used 2015 Lexus RX350 at the Kennesaw GA location and when she asked for the CarFa Carmax to insist on receiving a CarFax report. My wife purchased a Used 2015 Lexus RX350 at the Kennesaw GA location and when she asked for the CarFax report she was given the run around. We were told it didn’t exist, there was no need to worry. In the end, shame on us for not insisting on getting it before signing. Since we have found that the car was stolen, in a serious accident and was suspected of rolling back the odometer. Until this experience we had very good luck with CarMax, but after this experience, we will not use them again. BTW, we traded in the car and bought a new one. Remember the old saying “Buyer Beware”, I hope this helps some considering using CarMax. More

Great service I did not end up buying a car here but it was at no fault of Carmax (simply found something elsewhere and fell in love with it). It was my first time I did not end up buying a car here but it was at no fault of Carmax (simply found something elsewhere and fell in love with it). It was my first time going in looking to purchase a car for myself and the salesman I worked with was very accommodating. There was even a car I wanted to drive that they were having trouble locating in the back lot and he spent a lot of time searching for it for me. He was not pushy when I said I wanted to wait and see what else I could find and I really appreciated that. Prices seemed fair considering the work they put in to make sure the cars are in good condition before purchase. Will definitely consider this dealership for future purchases and recommend to people I know looking to buy. More

I haven't been one to write reviews online, but I feel that I was saved from some shady car business by other people's reviews, so I thought I should come and share my experience with CarMax. Truly, CarMax was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I ended up purchasing a 2012 Honda Odyssey from the CarMax in Kennesaw, Georgia, but we spoke on the phone to the Mobile Sales team in North Carolina, as well as corresponded with sales consultants in other dealerships. All in all, *every single person* was professional and helpful. We also bought the top-of-the-line MaxCare (extended warranty) plan, and while I hope we never have to use it, I have confidence that CarMax will do its part if we ever do need to use it. I could go on and on, but I want this review to help someone. Give CarMax a shot if you haven't. Our experience was totally wonderful from start to finish, even though buying a used car isn't my favorite activity. Thank you, CarMax. More

Gave them all the information for my car, handed over the keys and went out with the salesman to look at a Lexus GX460. Get to the Lexus and while the salesman was getting the key out of the box, I noticed the front tire had a nail in it. Funny, thought there was an inspection process? Then the salesman goes to unlock the door and nothing happens. Oh, the key battery must be dead.....Funny, thought there was an inspection process? I get into the car, put the key into the ignition and nothing happens.... battery is DEAD.....Funny, thought there was an inspection process? Ok, guess I won't be buying this Lexus. I moved onto a Range Rover. Now, I currently have an Rover and know how they drive. I get into this one and as we're driving off the lot, the salesman can't get the gate to open to let us out. Sigh. Off to another exit..... that one doesn't work either.....off to yet another exit, nope, that's not working either, back to the last exit to try again. We've now been trying to get out of the lot for over 15 minutes with no luck. I ask the salesman to just take the car back, we aren't interested but he continues. We finally make it out of the lot and I get behind the wheel. This car drove rough. Way rougher than my current Rover, which is older. I ended up turning around and taking the car back before it broke down on us. Get back to the dealership (knowing we weren't buying a car) and wait for the appraisal. Appraisal comes in and the salesman starts paging though the document (MY GOD, JUST GET TO THE NUMBER ALREADY) and finally gets to their offer. Well, more insulted, I could not have been. I do my homework and I'm a well informed consumer. Offering me $5k LESS than KBB or NADA is insulting. I had better offers at other dealerships. Please make sure you know the value of your car BEFORE you go because CarMax is a rip off. Also, do not buy a car between February and say May as dealerships know people get their tax returns and will offer you less for your car and more for a new car. Needless to say, we did not buy a car or sell my car to CarMax and we will never do business with them again. I guess they thought I was a stupid consumer who didn't know any better. Oh well, they didn't get this sucker.....hope they don't get you either. More
