A year later the engine blew up. the particular car I'm driving is a performance model however it does have a known issue for the oil pump seizing. So I took it to the manufacture dealer and everything was going smoothly under warranty. Then I get a phone call the day before I'm supposed to get my car back and I'm told that the manufacturer has put a warranty block on my vehicle because my computer was not OEM. At that time I fought with both the dealer and the manufacturer. Unfortunately I ran into multiple brick walls with trying to filter this issue and not come out of pocket 10 grand for a new engine. At that time I decided thought it was going to be such a burden and I was desperate and no one just has $10,000 to come out of pocket for a car they bought a year ago that only had five thousand miles on it so I went ahead and called CarMax and spoke to a service advisor named Alex. He took the time to hear me out and let me explain my situation. About a week into multiple phone calls going back and forth and sorting out information he tells me that they're paying for my car to get fixed at the dealer that my car is at. What Alex did at the Parker CarMax speaks volumes on CarMax's philosophy on how they treat customers. I bought my car over a year ago and put close to 40,000 miles on the engine without getting a CarMax warranty and given the situation CarMax bit the bullet and took care of the customer. I bought my last three cars from CarMax over the past 10 years and I will not be buying my next car anywhere else but CarMax unless it's a brand new one off the showroom floor which they only sell used LOL.
