Perfect car, I thought, many leaks but great service. I found the perfect car on carfax. Good price and all the bells and whistles I wanted. I sent an email through carfax asking if the car was still avai I found the perfect car on carfax. Good price and all the bells and whistles I wanted. I sent an email through carfax asking if the car was still available. Tony Martinson answered my email saying that the car was still available. We talked price and came to an agreement. Went to look at the car, it was exactly as advertised. Tony was easy to work with and took care of everything for us. We found a couple of little things we asked to have corrected and he took care of it with a smile. I picked the car up on the 19th of September. On the 22nd of September I noticed a very large puddle of transmission fluid and oil on my garage floor. I got a 30 day/1000 mile power train warranty on the car from Car City when I bought it. I sent Tony an email first thing Monday morning. He said it was covered and to bring it up when I could. He could give me a loaner car if they couldn't fix it right away. Tony met me in the parking area and got my car in a bay right away. They figured out what the problem was and fixed it while I waited. Warranty was honored with a smile. 1 October. Transmission acting funny and fluid was low.. I went to my local dealer to get the car winterized, ie all fluids checked and topped off as well as a general inspection to catch any problems early. The dealer found several engine and transmission leaks and brought me out to the bay to show me. They also found some other problems. The dealer called Tony to see if they could do the work but were told it had to be done by Car City under the warranty terms. I drove to Car City in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon. I gave Tony a copy of the inspection results. He gave me a loaner car and said it would take them a few days to make things right. He said his goal was a happy customer. Thursday afternoon I called Tony to get a progress report. He said it would be done Friday as they had some part they had been waiting for. Tony called me Friday morning (I found out later that Friday is his day off) to let me know that the car would be ready in a couple of hours. I drove up that afternoon and picked my car up. Within a couple of blocks I realized something wasn't right with the transmission so turned around a brought it back. The mechanic took it for a test drive, added a quart of transmission fluid and it was fine. Back at home I put some cardboard under the car to see if there were still any leaks. This is the following Tuesday and there is not a single drip on the cardboard. In addition to the power train fixes they went above and beyond and fixed things I didn't expect them to, namely the brakes and the front left wheel hub. Tony and his guys went above and beyond to make sure I got a good car and was happy. With customer service like this I will definitely look for another car at Car City. As a side note, I looked around their lot and peeked under the cars. There aren't a lot of oil spots on the lot so I suspect the car I got was the exception, not the rule, as far as problems. More
