Using the Ford employee discount program, I appreciated the dealer’s honesty by following Fords recommended reduction in document fees. I found out that not all Ford dealers follow this recommendation so all future business will be with Candy Ford. More

I’ll start by explaining why we thought this dealership was the right dealership to handle our needs. We recently had a family member who relocated and needed to find a Ford dealer to handle a lease buyout was the right dealership to handle our needs. We recently had a family member who relocated and needed to find a Ford dealer to handle a lease buyout. We ended up talking with a few different salespeople at different dealerships, and finally decided we should go to Candy Ford for this. This particular transaction went smoothly and we enjoyed our sales person. Since we had a good interaction with one of their sales people, we considered them for our service needs. We received a coupon in the mail from Ford advertising brake service for $209, which included machining rotors, and installing new pads - priced per axle. Of course, at the bottom it said there were some exclusions. I called and spoke to Dennis (the manager?)in the service department, I inquired about the expiration date which he said generally doesn’t matter as they can honor those prices for months after the stated expiration. Also, I told him EXACTLY what vehicles we had, he replied that they were NOT excluded, and the coupon WOULD work for these vehicles. I even explained that we had more than one vehicle that we may need brake work done on in the future. The next phone call was to get the work scheduled, again we spoke to Dennis - the vehicle was confirmed, again. So, we made arrangements to drive the roughly 40 minutes each way from our home to drop the vehicle off for service, which they said would take a few hours. Approximately three hours after we dropped the vehicle off, we received a phone call from the service department indicating that repairs would cost $1640!… A long ways from the $209 per axle brake service that we set up. We were told the vehicle needs new rotors, but we know that rotors don’t cost $1200… In fact you can get front and rear rotors for only a couple hundred dollars from many sources. They had excuse after excuse why they were not going to perform this work, at the agreed price. For those of you reading this review, there was no prior damage, rotors not warped, not grooved, not metal to metal. Vehicle only had 80,000 miles. This would’ve been the first time getting brake service done on it. I was surprised to hear they said it NEEDED rotors, as I have owned several of these vehicles, and never once needed a set of rotors with the first pad change. We drove back, picked up the vehicle and had a very unprofessional exchange with Dennis in the service department. Basically tried to make us feel silly for thinking that they would do this brake service for this price… Even though it was spoke about at length during 2 prior phone calls with the same person. I was floored. What was the real issue? We don’t know. Maybe an under equipped shop? Mechanics not familiar with this vehicle? Didn’t have the appropriate equipment to machine these rotors? I guess we will never know. We will also never return. What a terrible experience. Even spoke with an upper management member before leaving… It was interesting, he seemed concerned at how we were treated, but ultimately did nothing. This person also indicated that a transit 150 should’ve qualified, but our transit 250 should not (even though we were explicitly told it did qualify)… Anyone that knows anything about these vans knows that the process to service the brakes is basically identical on the 150, 250, and 350. Even many of the parts are identical. Also, we measured the rotors on this vehicle with a micrometer the following day, they were well inside of tolerances to be used again - they did not need to be replaced. Experiences like this are why some businesses lose customers forever. Dishonest. Zero integrity. To the person responding to this on behalf of Candy Ford, if you publicly own this horrible experience like you should, I will change my review to two stars - just for your honesty. Do not deflect or attempt to make it sound like we misinterpreted the situation, or any facts - your business was 100% at fault here. More
