They are genuinely caring and truly honorable people. Our vehicle broke down in Virginia and we had to purchase another one. We wasted 3 days with a chain car dealership without any results. We found Jim Snead Ford on the internet near our location and decided to see if they had something to fill our needs. Mickey Painter, our salesperson understood our situation and reassured us that we would be able to get the camper and ourselves (along with our two grandkids and the dog) home without any worries from the vehicle. They were generous with a trade in value for our old car, even with the mechanical problems it had, because of the break down. They made us feel like family and assisted us in any way possible, even after we left the dealership with our purchase. Mickey contacted us several times to make sure all was well before we headed home and that the rest of our trip was going smoothly. They made every effort to meet our needs and our monthly budget, which they did. We were pleasantly surprised to see the pricing and financial information on our purchase. We were expecting to be raked over the coals but it turned out to be such a pleasant experience for a horrible situation, that we may buy our next vehicle from them as well, it would be worth the trip. Thank you again to Mr. Jim Snead, AJ Burns and of course to Mickey Painter, you are all extremely admirable and a great asset to the Ford Company. More
First Time Buying Experience This was my first time buying a car (new or used), so I don't have a lot of perspective, but my experience at Jim Snead Ford was better than I had tho This was my first time buying a car (new or used), so I don't have a lot of perspective, but my experience at Jim Snead Ford was better than I had thought I would find when buying a car. I walked in one afternoon knowing exactly what car I wanted to look at (2014 Ford Focus), and Jason, one of their salesman, was immediately available to help me. He gave me ample time to inspect the vehicle at my leisure, all the while being ready to answer all my questions. Then we took the car for a test drive in which I was free to determine the direction and duration so as to test my interests in the car. Jason went on some explanations that were unnecessary to me because I had already researched extensively, but they showed that he knew his product extremely well. I had really only expected to look, as I didn't think I would consider buying a new car. However, I had a few minutes, so I went inside to let Jason tell me about the pricing, and when he came back he showed me a price that was shockingly low. That really got my attention because I think this dealership lists all their vehicles at MSRP online so that you end up with a much lower price when you actually go into the dealership. Anyway, the deal he showed me was actually lower than the used car price that I had been expecting, so I went home and considered the car as a real possibility. The next day I brought my family to look at the car (mom, dad, and brother) and Jason let us take the car out for another test drive, without him even coming along! The next day I went in to hopefully purchase the car, and I was able to request a price drop of another 500 dollars! Everyone I worked with was pleasant and completely transparent throughout the entire process of actually purchasing the vehicle, so that I felt both comfortable and well-informed about what I was buying. Nothing was rushed along or high pressure in any way that I could notice. I have now had the car for about a month, and Jason has followed up with me on several occasions to make sure I had everything I needed, to which the answer is an emphatic yes. On that note, I will say that from what I have seen so far (1200 miles over a month in highway and town driving, including in traffic) the 2014 Focus is a great car. It has plenty of power, and the hatchback version has an incredible amount of storage space. I also think that the EPA fuel estimates are too low, because I have easily gotten 42 mpg over a 150-mile interstate trip. If you are thinking of getting a larger car, I would really urge you to consider the Focus for a minute. It's spacious (for passengers and cargo), powerful, efficient, and a lot of fun to drive, not to mention a good deal cheaper than SUVs or large sedans. I should warn that I have posted this same review elsewhere so that more people might see it. Corey requested that I post a review of my experience, which I was more than happy to do, so I submitted to the three sites that he linked for me. More

The Salesman and everyone that helped us was as eager to sell us a car at the rate we could afford as we were to buy one. We had totaled our vehicle in an accident just weeks prior and its like they felt our pain as much as we did having to start over again. Thanks to all who helped us get this beautiful Ford Edge. More

I wanted something that w I came to Jim Snead looking for a car which would allow me to have a safe and comfortable ride and would hold a wheelchair. I wanted something that would accommodate three passengers comfortably and give me good gas mileage. I was not sure what I would find or if I would be able to find a deal that I could afford. After looking at a new Ford Focus and running some numbers Joey said that the new Focus would not work with my amount but he had a used Focus and asked if I would be willing to look at it. I liked what I saw and so far, it has more than met my expectations. It is a sharp looking 2012 and had plenty of room for the wheelchair. The gas mileage doubled what I was getting and I am very pleased with it. I have not had it very long, about 2 weeks, but it was everything I was looking for. I can not remember everyone's name that I spoke with, but they were all very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to a long relationship and will steer others in the direction of Jim Snead Ford. If you are looking for a friendly car buying experience, I would recommend this dealership without hesitation. More

From the moment I indicated I needed a new car, the salesman showed me a couple and made recommendations based on the number of miles I drive. He showed me the Ford Escape and I fell in Love. We talked a bit and I had decided I would buy and need to talk to my husband. Two days later, I had a massive mechanical failure on my current vehicle. I called Mickey and told him it has just become critical that I have a new car. He had exactly what I wanted 3 days later. We made the deal by phone and I drove in to get the car. They spent enormous amount of time explain all the features and wanted to make sure I knew how to properly enjoy my new car. He gave me his card an told me to call if I had any problems. I called this morning. Told him my new car had quit talking to me. He laughed and told me to try a couple of different things and sure enough, my car started talking again. I apparently had shut off the entertainment system and although I tried pushing the power button (to radio and everything else with sound) it just did not appear to turn on. He had it fixed in seconds one I had him on the phone. This dealership makes you family and you always help family. If you are looking for a new Ford.....Go to Jim Snead Ford. They are honest hard working people, and them want to make your experience a delightful one, not a stressful one. More

Best Car Buying Experience in my 40 years of buying. Could not ask for a better experience. Everyone worked with was friendly, professional, and went the extra mile to provide customer service. I purch Could not ask for a better experience. Everyone worked with was friendly, professional, and went the extra mile to provide customer service. I purchased a used 2001 F250 pickup to pull a trailer back and forth between Richmond and my mountain cabin in Rockbridge County. After having the truck for a week, I noticed that the heater was not performing well and took it back to Snead's for them to check it out. They not only went way beyond what was expected to get to the heart of the problem, but also gave me a loaner car to drive while the truck was in their shop. All of the work was done at NOT ONE PENNY of cost to me. They could have easily said "It's 13 years old - no warranty service", but they went out of their way to ensure that things were right with the truck. They even brought me a bowl of water for my dog while we waited! That's why I'm going to go back to them for all my car/truck needs from now on. This is a company that you want to do business with. Might recommend for sale as a good four of five of the vehicles we've owned throughout the years came from Jim Snead and the sale was made fair, and with a very good price. The service on the other hand vehicles we've owned throughout the years came from Jim Snead and the sale was made fair, and with a very good price. The service on the other hand was seriously lacking but this never came to my attention until we had two somewhat major issues, never before had anything of this nature ever come up as we did in a very short time period and neither worked out very well with one being a major concern and expense that I had to pay for. The larger of the two problems was when a driver pulled out in front of me and clipped the front fender causing wheel and tire damage in addition to the fender. The fender was replaced and painted nicely to match existing paint, and a new wheel and tire replaced the damaged one. I have an automatic 4wheel drive and it came to be in a short span of time that the transmission was always slipping into 4wheel drive because you are NEVER supposed to replace a tire with that system, it always has to be all four tires that match identically with tread wear for the exact reason I stated and this should have been blatantly obvious to a dealer than sells so many vehicles with this type of transmission that it still pains me to write about the dismay I had when I discovered this painful lesson. I had never had an automatic 4wheel drive system and had no way of telling that it would do such permanent and expensive damage to my vehicle. I have never gotten it fixed (to the tune of a few thousand dollars) and Jim Snead and Co. were not responsive to my complaint, my frustration, or the fact that it happened in general. I suppose they were a little embarrassed. The other issue was near the same time and not as worthy of a write up but nonetheless and poor experience with the service department when it came to a significant repair. Final verdict: maybe worth a look on a sale but DO NOT get your vehicle serviced here. Sorry Jim Snead, it's the only thing I can do after such a terrible experience. More
